  1. Some of you may recall that when this carbon tax was first discussed, I called my MPP's office for details. i was told that the tax would be pass through and that I, as a consumer, wouldn't or "shouldn't notice a thing. When I specifically ask about fuel charges, I was told there would no change for the consumer, industry will absorb the cost. How's that working so far? HH
  2. You haven't been here long enough to have experienced what these types of boards can do to locations and people. Check back in, in a few years and let us know what you have found out. HH
  3. Thanks for posting the pics Lew, I enjoyed seeing them. Unfortunately, all I see are a few hundred pounds of Pepperettes under some antlers. I may need my eyes checked... HH
  4. Perhaps he's ordained... HH
  5. So sorry to have read this John, my condolences to you and your family. HH
  6. But it's a dry cold! HH
  7. Lox and bagel are awesome! I'm just not a fan of Montreal style bagels, too sweet. HH
  8. We usually eat pretty good on our winter "Weekend at Bernie's trip". Of late, we have been bringing pulled pork and beef brisket in vacuum sealed packages. Coleman stove, drop them in the boiling water and in a few minutes and a few difference BBQ sauces, we are back at it fishing. HH PS... there you go eatin that pike bait again Brian! LOL
  9. Man, the girls are growing up fast Drew! Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the whole thing! HH
  10. Pillar is fine defensively, but he is clueless when it comes to hitting. Dude would strike out in the on-deck circle if it was within the rules. HH
  11. Ok... a little math here. They signed Smoak to a two year 4 mill per season in the summer. Had they not done that, it would have freed up 4 mill per year to put towards EE. By not signing Jose, that's another $15 mill in budget space. So, there's roughly $20 mill unaccounted for in the budget. That's enough to get Edwin back. They also have the roughly $12 to $15 mill that EE got last year, still in the budget. I'm not far from calling shenanigans! HH
  12. No Brian, just the regular lenses. Back when I bought my original pair, I didn't need glasses! LOL Probably should have though.... HH
  13. Resurrecting this thread because I just had a similar experience. I busted the pair of Jim's I bought in the 90's a couple of years ago. Fast forward to last week and while picking up new reading glasses, I noticed that they carried Maui Jim's and told them of my busted glasses. They asked me to bring them in and see what they can do for me. $85 later, I have a brand new pair of Jims (they currently retail for over $300!). That's how customers should be treated. They could give lessons to a number of companies! HH
  14. A buddy of mine built a Smitty, not nearly as nice as your Brian, but what he did do, is put steel grate on sections along the lid, so he could put his portable heater in it and sit on it, in the cold. The Smitty was always warm and as everyone knows, a warm tush leads to a warm body. He never uses a hut. HH
  15. I am guessing that EE and Jose are scratching their heads wondering where all the offers are. They have waited years to get access to free agency and the windfall of cash and are finding out that baseball is turning into a young man's game. At their ages, teams are are extremely cautious and given their salary demands and teams being so close to their financial caps, both may end up being a bargain when it is all said and done. HH
  16. Sometimes I kinda wish that this board had an "ignore" feature. OP - chunk up those pike, soak'em overnight in some hot sauce, wrap them in bacon and grill them. Thanks for the report! HH
  17. Could be the mask! HH
  18. Or an environment that doesn't make the customer feel like they are being hounded, to ensure that they don't steal anything! HH
  19. Be glad you are not living in New York as they have/had a soft drink tax with an eye to getting people to make "better" decisions. At the end of the day, these decisions can almost always be related to taxation... they just tell us it's for our own good. HH
  20. Dan, Quinte has a lot of current and that's why the folks have been telling you to wait. There are a number of places that have huge current and therefore, difficulty freezing solid. The boys will take care of you! HH
  21. That's probably the biggest Pickereye I have seen caught there in years! She sure brings back some memories! Congrats and thanks for sharing! HH
  22. Well, when they fire up the gas generators to meet peak power needs, like a cold snap or a heat wave, I'm pretty sure that we will see that added to our bill. Raf, there isn't much opposition to the carbon tax because I believe that most folks don't even know it is coming! They're gonna find out quick when industry starts to leave the province more often then they already have... and let's not forget that the feds are doing the same thing!
  23. I can always tell it's cold outside when I go outside and it's cold. HH
  24. No Xmas lights here! Can't justify the cost of running them against my already exorbitant bill! HH
  25. I hope you folks haven't forgotten about the carbon tax that takes effect on Jan 1! Expect your hydro rates to climb just based on that... not to mention the rise in costs at the pumps. I recall a phone call I made to my MPP when the carbon tax was announced. I was told that we the consumers would not even notice the tax, it would be absorbed by the corporations... surprise surprise! HH
