  1. Google says Trent University has a dental school.... HH
  2. After reading some of the responses in this thread, it's pretty obvious who watched the entire video posted and who quit early on. You do know that the speaker was a former big wig at Cisco Systems right? HH
  3. For discussion purposes only, yes and no Dave. Much of what has traditionally held us back from innovation, has been a lack of desire to do so, by those who have held an interest in keeping things the way they are, specifically corporations. As we are now a global economy, those corporations don't have the monopolies that they historically had. That's why companies such as those in the automotive industry, have only recently, begun to invest in new technologies... to say nothing of the oil industry and they're influence around the world. GM has recently announced a centre for innovation to be built in Markham and I would be that they are not doing anything related to the internal combustion engine! HH
  4. Or run that quad on a couple of flash light batteries! LOL HH
  5. I'm beginning to think that the Jays front office is looking to change the team, more than keep what they have had. Objectively looking at the last two seasons, the Jays were essentially the same team. That team has proven twice, that they are just not good enough to win it all, close, but not quite there. So, management have decided that they have had their shot, their collective soft underbelly exposed and the realization has been made that this group just aren't able to move to the next level. I don't except them to sign either Jose or Edwing. I expect them to address the issues that have presented themselves, namely, more consistent hitting and left handed hitters. I am willing to let them do their thing, before I pass judgement on their decisions. HH
  6. Those are good questions Dan, some that I thought of as well. What my take on the talk is, is that we are in such a fast moving/paced time, with technology these days, that there are potentially limitless options available to us today and obviously in the future. Sure, most of what he talks about is conjecture but based on scientific fact. It's a good time to be alive! HH
  7. I don't know enough at this point as to whether this is a good thing or bad thing, but I do know that it will completely change our lives and the ways we go about them. HH
  8. A friend recently sent me this link. I found it fascinating and pretty eye opening. It's a little long, but there's a lot of information here and perhaps even some crystal ball moments. We are in for a massive amount of change in our lives if this is really true. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kxryv2XrnqM HH
  9. This! HH
  10. That a beauty! Nice job and thanks for showing us! HH
  11. Just a heads up re St. Lucia. The freshwater systems on the island have a parasite that finds certain parts of the human male anatomy to be a great host. It will "swim" up and make itself at home. Extremely painful and difficult to "remove". Best advice is to stay away from fresh water and stick to the salt water. HH
  12. Steve, is there a belt in there that is turning the gears inside the unit? i had that problem with my old unit. Was able to pick up a new belt at Princess Auto for three or four bucks. HH
  13. What Dan and Lew said is the likely culprit, given the unit is not that old. HH
  14. At the rate things are going, "star players" will be given a different coloured helmet differentiating them from others, indicating that thou shall not hit. HH
  15. That's a beauty pic Simon! Thanks for sharing! HH
  16. You sir, have just acquired what we old guys call "experience". Anyone who can laugh at themselves is a welcome member. HH
  17. I have always thought that the NHL was a man's game, played by men, or boys. The "wusification" of the NHL is starting to get annoying. Sedin got hit with his head down, I bet he'll be more careful next time out. That's something they teach kids early on in their hockey career. I also find it objectionable that there is retaliation after every hit, legal or not. I wish they would just get up, shake it off and play on, but that doesn't seem to be the rule anymore either. The way it's going, we are going to be watching a league full of Hammerstoms. Poor guy probably never had a scrambled egg in his life! HH
  18. As they are a course fish and not a game fish, you can catch them any way you wish... net, snag etc... the bigger question might be WHY, unless you are going to use them as cut bait. HH
  19. Like many others here, I have a pup here at home and from time to time, he gets a sour belly. We can't be sure what it is that causes it and it is only occasionally at best, but he does have times where he is either throwing up or pooping like crazy. A friend, who is a certified dog trainer, suggested that I give my Lab pumpkin. I know it sounds weird, well it did to me anyway, but canned or fresh, just give the dog a table spoon or so. I was quite surprised that he immediately ate it up and coincidence or not, he stopped throwing up. I hadn't heard of this before, so i thought I would pass this tid bit along as I know we have a number of dog owners here and maybe they could use this info. If it saves a trip to the vet, it's worth the $2.99 for a can. HH
  20. LOL... thanks for the chuckle. Now we await that person who will say that the joke is in bad taste blah blah blah... HH
  21. Agreed. My thought was that if a relative newbie to the site read through this thread, they might not get the idea that posting pics can be detrimental to your fishing experience. I am not saying to not post pics, I am suggesting that one be prudent in doing so. HH
  22. I remember that report Drew and I can't blame you one bit for being put off. HH
  23. Your experience is not what others have found. You are painting everyone with the same brush. I guess you are going to need to experience it first hand, before you will change you opinion. HH Edit - and this by no means the first or last time we have had this conversation over the years. Perhaps a search of past threads would shed some light on the subject.
  24. I guess it was ten years ago! I used to fish Quinte from October, until the ice wouldn't let us on the water. Here's a pic of what we found one morning after the 2 hour drive from the GTA. Took us two hours to clear the launch of enough ice to launch. Honestly, having started fishing Quinte so long ago, well before the zebra mussels cleared the water and the number of boats out could be counted on one hand, I caught a lot of Pickereyes. The one in the pic is just another of many that were caught. Back in the good ole days, 20-30 fish per day for two guys was pretty normal. We got to the point where we wouldn't even take a pic of a fish, unless it was a teen. I got my PB there, it was 14.75lbs. This was well before the advent of digital cameras. So, the story of this fish isn't positive, but if memory serves me well, it was caught in a snow storm, just east of the Glenora ferry on our way out for the day. Probably in the 10lb range. The dude in the background is my long time friend and former PWT (professional Walleye Tour)tour pro. I learned a ton from him! HH
