  1. Right now, 12:48pm, there are 28 members on line and 68 guests... do I need to spell it out for you? HH
  2. Not a car guy, but appreciate the beauty! Music is my other source of joy and to that I have gathered some toys of my own. Yamaha SVB, re-issue of a bass originally released in the late 60's. Moon Jazz bass, made in Japan by the best luthiers they have to offer. Picked up on CL for a steal! Marshall VBA400 and Bergantino 6x10 cabinet. All picked up on CL for pennies on the dollar. This rig will eliminate constipation quicker than Metamucil. Rickenbacker 4003 - now gone! Beautiful instrument, just not for me! Just like a reel or rod is either what you want or not, this one just wasn't for me. The guy that bought it from me, well he's a happy dude! This pic was taken at an outdoor gig and few years ago. I know, nice shirt eh!!! Roscoe LG3000, boutique American made. I will be buried with this guitar!!!! Yamaha BB1100S - Main bass when I toured in the 80's. Sentimental value here! Pedulla Rapture - found this at a pawn shop. They wanted a ton for the bass, so I waited them out. After a year of hanging in the shop, with not takers, I picked it up for less than half of what they were asking for, after they "got sick of looking at it"! Thought I'd throw a fish pic in here, just to keep the masses happy! LOL HH
  3. Like I said, I have been here a long time. I have seen the board being full of reports and I to, took part in the fun. As this board has become the go to site for people looking for free information, mostly "guests", many have stopped putting up reports. Giving away free information to those unwilling to put the work in to develop their own hows and whys, has scared many off posting reports in areas that are within easy driving of populated areas. We have some members who little to no worries about this, as they live in out of the way places and have virtually no fishing pressure, in comparison to those who live in the more populated areas. Add to the fact that many of us, who have been here a long time, have been there and done that. Rolling around in four footers was something some of us were doing, when others were still in public school. I have already worn out the tee shirt and sweatpants I got for doing that for years. Back to the point of the OP... this board is a community, who's binding force is fishing. A long time ago, it was decided that in order to keep the board alive and viable, and given the propensity of board members to utilize the depth of knowledge and experience of it's members, we would evolve into a community and have discussions, like a community. Many of us have kids, jobs, you name it, that take from us the one thing we can't buy or manufacture, time. When I first joined here, well before the invention of dirt, I had virtually zero obligations to my time. Well, time has changed that and I am lucky, for now, to be able to get out when I can. As far as I can tell, that doesn't diminish my membership here, nor should it put me or any other member, in a position to be scolded by the community or just some members who are in different places in their life. MB2, I was not calling you out for whining, not my intention. My intention was to point out that you may have expectations that simply can't be met in a public forum such as this. That's what facebook is for. HH
  4. Having been around this place for a bit, I'll add my 2 cents. If you are expecting folks to chime in on your report, regardless of what it contains, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. No one here owes you anything. No one has forced anyone to submit a post and no one should expect anything back, that's the way of message boards. If you need social reassurance for your social networking presence, go to face book. That's what it's for. I am not saying don't post here or don't do a report, but complaining about not getting warm and fuzzies back from the community for your efforts in posting seems a little juvenile. You put it up on your own free will and people will either read it and comment or they won't. Expect nothing and at worst, that's what you will get. HH
  5. I see you have decided to run up the middle and take over the smiling duties, left absent by Lew's departure. Nice work. HH
  6. What's going on in Syria is simply a replay of what happened there around 50 years ago, ethnic cleansing. Do some reading. As far as the election coming up, I don't envy anyone making a decision. It's becoming more and more obvious that there is so much more to what's happening, then is being spoon fed to the masses. As a measure of good will between our countries, I will volunteer Wynn for the job. We might even pay you!!!! HH
  7. Sen's season opener was not sold out. I have to wonder if Ottawa's team might be in trouble. HH
  8. My biggest concern was taken care of yesterday. I was concerned that the Jays would be sitting until Friday and might have to face a team that has had no break between games. The Indians took care of that by beating the Red Sox, so at this point, both the Jays and the Indians will have to fight to get their hitting/timing back in place. The other concern, would be playing in Cleveland at night. Our players are quite used to playing on controlled conditions. It gets pretty nasty by the lake in October, let's hope the Jays can handle it. HH
  9. lol Brian!!!!!! HH
  10. Probably put corn juice in it instead of premium. HH
  11. They will close the Cabela's locations, then build new BPS store's within a mile of current Sail stores. Once they have crushed Sail, they will close stores that aren't returning enough on investment. Profit HH
  12. That sounds like a great plan Dan! HH
  13. Maybe it's time the NFN to consider not netting the lake and taking advantage of their location and resources to open a resort/casino on Nip. To my mind, everyone wins, except those addicted to gambling! Shortsightedness has left the pickereye population devastated, which will trickle down to the wallets of everyone in the area. Resorts/casino's seem to be thriving elsewhere in the province, so why not the Nip region. HH PS - here we go again! I've got the popcorn maker out and await the usual results of threads like this!
  14. Were you able to try minnows? HH
  15. The plot thickens on the cod. It's apparently smoked. I am to steam it for no more than 8 to 10 minutes, so I'll give that a go when I try the first fillet. HH
  16. Thanks guys! Appreciate you input! I was told that Pacific Black Cod is very rare and the best that the Pacific has to offer. It was suggested that I steam the fish in order to fully enjoy what it has to offer. Shag, I am hesitant to just batter it up, like any other fish. Brian, I know it aint smelt and that's why it's still in my freezer, but I think your suggestion will likely be the recipe I follow for my first crack at the cod. HH
  17. I think I'd rather be lucky than handy! Becoming handy is usually the result of hard work and effort. Being lucky is just that, luck. HH
  18. If you can't be handsome Chris, being lucky is a close second! HH
  19. My niece lives in Prince Rupert and made a stop at my place a couple of weeks ago on her way to a three week trip across Europe. She over-nighted here at my place in Toronto and when she opened her luggage here at the house, half he bag was filled with frozen, vac packed fish. She has been in "the Rupe" for a number of years and has be-befriended a number of First Nations folks. Many are fisherman and have invited her to go out and fish with them. They eat fresh seafood as often as they like. So, her little care package contains; -15 pounds of Pacific Halibut -a number of Chum Salmon fillets -half a dozen Pacific Black cod The Halibut was simply delicious, prepared with my own coating. I have yet to cook any of the Cod, could use some advice on a good recipe if anyone has one! HH
  20. Bautista seems to be suffering from some form of brain damage! He has always been an aggressive fielder, but historically, he made good decisions. Of late, he has made some baffling running and throwing decisions, that have cost this team dearly. I can't imagine how much money this season has cost him on the free agent market. HH
  21. My Mom would grow bell peppers, stuff them with sauerkraut and then pickle them. They would come out crunchy and delicious. That's the German way of dealing with large amounts of peppers. My Dad, of Hungarian descent, would string his peppers, through the stems and hang them in his garage for weeks. Once dried, he would remove the stems, seeds etc, then grind them into a powder and we would have Paprika for the year! HH
  22. Lawyer jokes are the best!!! Here's one for yah! Fishing related! What's the difference between a lawyer and a carp? One's a scum sucking bottom feeder and the other is a fish! There you go! I'm here all day! Roast beef is in the lobby! HH
  23. Take it across the street to the guys at Ravine. Colin and Rob are good guys and are fair. They won't do anything without your approval and always guarantee their work. I have used them for years and they are my go to guys. HH
  24. Might be time to call a lawyer... sorry you have to endure this. HH
  25. Lew, I fully understand! It's not easy doing all that smiling, holding big ass ski's! My guess, your mouth is just too sore from smilin all those years, so take the break, give the jaw some much deserved time off and save those smiles for your loved ones. HH
