  1. So I popped into my local grocery store today and asked about the UPC code issue and was told the following; You will notice at the cash they will have documented legislation to which the retailer, by law has to follow. Any discrepancy between the price advertised and what shows up at the cash register must be given to the customer, even without the customer asking! It's the law and you shouldn't have to ask for it. Items priced higher than $10 will automatically qualify for a ten dollar deduction right at the cash. The only things not under this law are fresh produce and fresh baked goods. So Cliff, technically you shouldn't even have had to ask for the item, as soon as you noticed the price differential, you should have been given the item for free. It's the law. HH
  2. I think I got my OF(N) toque in 04/05 when TJ had a booth at the Fishing Show. Good to see you back Verno! HH
  3. The store would have been stealing one cent from Cliff, had he not spoke up. I watch that screen at the register like a hawk. The other day, I noticed that they had charged me $3.99 for an item on sale for $2.99. Yah a buck is more than a penny, but is the principal any different? Your mileage may vary... HH
  4. I only buy on sale and tend to frequent the store near to me. My kids look forward to seeing the weekly flyer, it lets them know what we will be having for dinner for the next week or so! HH
  5. Don't forget that if you are just doing a runner and not the whole stairs, you will need to get the carpet bound. HH
  6. I find myself sitting up every time the Marner line is on. It's so much fun to watch the skill that kid has and when you combine that with his hockey smarts and will to work hard, it's a pleasure to watch. On the same note, I am beginning to become impressed with the way Nylander has grown up in the last few months. He's playing bigger and seems much more willing to go to the hard places to get what he wants. For the first time in a long time, it's fun to watch the Leafs again! HH
  7. My brother was on the Moon River musky fishing. He tends to stand up while casting and when changing baits, he just tosses them on his boat seat. They were out most of that day, when they noticed that a front was rolling in over the the Bay, heading towards them. He got everyone packed up and was heading for his camp when he passed another boat at speed, sending his boat rocking from the wake. Now I should explain that he likes to sit on the top of the back of the seat, to get a clear view while driving. The wake from the other boat knocked him off the back of the seat, down onto the actual seat itself. He ended up sitting on his musky lures. So, in his bathing suit, he has a twelve inch musky bait lodged in his butt, with two hooks buried to the shaft in his butt. My sister in law had to drive the boat back to camp, then to their truck and off to Mactier to the clinic. He rode in the back of the truck, on his belly the whole way. They got the hooks out after a few laughs with the doctor. HH
  8. Make it a wooden spoon or there might be trouble... Some perdy ice there! HH
  9. OT - my neighbour has a Mastiff and it has huge separation anxiety. So bad, that they had to change every door handle in the house to lock and key, because the dog could open doors with it mouth. Once a door is open, the room is fair game. So far, as far as I know it has chewed the following; -every spindle on the cured stair case. -every door handle in the house, locking or not. -every step to the up stairs -all the legs off a brand new billiard, to the point it fell over -every base board in the house -the fence between neighbours houses -the kitchen counter The couple are separated because of the dog, she won't let it go and he refuses to live with the dog and repair the damage. (He is the one who completely re-modeled the house before the dog arrived! HH
  10. Small and slow and look for warmer water at the edge of drop offs. HH
  11. But hydro rates are dropping Raf, so it may be affordable after all! HH
  12. Thanks Rick, much appreciated. HH
  13. As I don't know and am curious, how are these types of crimes handled Rick? Does it fall under the jurisdiction of the RCMP or First Nations enforcement? Believe me when i say that I a NOT trying to start anything, just curious and always interested in learning new things. HH
  14. I said that four pages ago Shane! HH
  15. Anything that could be kept? HH
  16. They used to hang horse thieves. How many countless dollars has this on-going enterprise cost the average person in insurance premiums, lawyers, repairs etc? and how much do we need to spend, before anything actually gets done? Never mind, there are no votes in pursuing this problem. HH
  17. I think Roloff needs his own rod!!!! HH
  18. We are the Knights who say Nee! As this is a fishing board, do we have to use a Herring to trim? HH
  19. It means that you learned something today. HH
  20. Towns like Port Hope would see a lot more money coming into their coffers if they closed the ditches to both spring and fall runs. That would mean that folks wanting to catch these fish would have to fish the big lake, launch boats and potentially stay in motels for a weekend fish. Launch fees alone would net the local economy more that the cup of coffee they sell to the odd fisherman. The fish win as they are able to re-produce without interruption and the local businesses win as they are not paying for clean up in their area and could net $$ from fisherman. So again, why are these fish being hunted during spawn? Imagine the fury if they opened Pickereye fishing during spawn? Pike, bass.... HH
  21. Probably catch flack for this, but once again the question that comes to mind is, why are trout and salmon the only game fish that are eligible to catch during their spawn? Close the ditches during spawn and problem solved. HH
  22. Yup, the shoot out sucks in any sport! I agree with most here, get back to the old method, It worked. Recall the TFC final a few months back. First time I watched a soccer game, (except for the woman"s Olympic team!) in my life. It was a really good opportunity for MLS to sell their game to city that isn't a soccer town. 120 minutes of no scoring, TFC's opponent DIDN"T GET A SHOT ON GOAL in regulation or extra time. TFC lost in a shoot out. Last game I'll watch! HH
  23. One thing to remember about Quinte is that it is big water and winds and waves can get stupid, real fast. Use caution and common sense when heading out. Hay bay is a relatively short boat ride from Picton. Head north out of the harbour, past the cement plant, Hay Bay is on your right. HH
