The key to success at Quinte in the spring is a couple of things to keep an eye out for... Water temp- look for warmer water in the bays that have access to deep water nearby. Find the edge and run small cranks, at or just above the bottom, stirring up the bottom will get you fish. As you will be in the Picton area, jigging at Thompson's Point could help and i would be more specifically looking in the Hay Bay area for warmer water and where it meets the main basin. Another place to try would be Forresters Island. Fish the shelf that runs along the north side of the island. Worm harnesses if you have them. HH

OI, I don't have table salt in the house. I use Kosher salt for everything, can't figure out why anyone would use iodine in their food. HH

Hold on! You went through ten pounds in a few days???? Colour me jealous! HH

Dan, try cutting the fillets in to strips and dropping them in salted boiling water. Boil until they are no longer translucent. Cool off in the fridge, serve cold. Have some shrimp cocktail sauce handy for for dipping. Neighbour may ask to marry you!!! HH

My father in law took a trip to Jamaica. He was sitting on the bus on the way from the airport to his resort. As he was looking out the window, a complete stranger looked at him and made the neck cutting motion to him. Not a good start to an expensive trip. Like most places, there are places to avoid and there are places to go. The tough part is being in the know. Friends just got back form an "all inclusive". They got zero service there, unless they were willing to tip every single "transaction" they requested. There are much better places to spend your vacation dollars, Barbados as an example. HH

For those who get sea sick, try taking two gravol pills half an hour before you get on the boat. cold lbeer and hot tuna sandwiches don't stand a chance! HH

Why does it seem that the majority of outfitters seem to be in the "Richard" camp? Such short shortsightedness can't be good for business, short or long term. HH

Great pics!!!!! HH

Anyone else notice in the pics that three guys are smiling and one isn't? (well, he might be under all the duck dynasty stuff!) HH

Let's just say that it was advantageous that the hut was frozen into the ice! HH

Our winter trip up to Bernie's place on Nip took place this past weekend. Bernie had hooked us up with his outfitter friend that put us in one of their ice condo's for the weekend. These folks were fantastic at keeping us well outfitted and fully baited. Fishing was pretty slow, with only four Pickereyes caught in total for the four of us. Nothing in the slot, so they went back. What did LI learn from the weekend? Well, four guys in an ice condo, confined spaces, one should probably consider the meals and the "results"! A word of advice to those willing to listen; -don't serve Brussel sprouts -don't serve steamed purple cabbage -don't serve heavily garliced noodles -don't serve beef barley soup for lunch the next day (Will it was delicious!!!) -don't serve corn on the cob after all of the above! We left early Sunday as there was a concern with the weather and what could have resulted in a "three hour tour". The fishing was slow, so we didn't feel like we were going to be missing out. The other guys have some pics, hoping they will chime in with them for yah! Thanks again Bernie! I'm still hunting down a copy of "Ray"! HH

The Perfect Man A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank." Passenger: "Who?" Cabbie: "Frank Feldman. He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time." Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was really something special." Cabbie: "There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow, what a guy!" Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman." Passenger: "How did you meet him?" Cabbie: "I never actually met Frank. He died and I married his wife." HH

Looking for advice. Ice fishing with family
Headhunter replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
Be aware that Nip has a slot that would make it difficult to be bringing any fish home. (Pickereye) HH -
Now that's a fatty... HH

All good choices above. To me, water temperature is most important for spring pike. Look for temp differences between bays and main lake/channel areas. Run smallish cranks right along the edge of the temp gradients and if the bottom allows, dredge it up with your bait. If trolling these areas, keep your speed at just enough to get your lure to dive and stay near or at the bottom. Lure suggestion; small hot n tots in Jimi Hendrix HH

"What are you"?! Awesome! HH

I've been "prettier" longer than the other guy... HH
-
Which is why I was questioning your comparison to more experienced players.... he has potential, no doubt about that. All I was doing was pointing out what I think he needs to do to reach his real potential. HH
-
Most of the players you mention have been through the grind and have playoff experience. They have learned what it takes to be successful individually as well as part of team. I'm not suggesting that the Leafs trade him, I am however suggesting that he needs to be tougher in order to continue to progress as a player. I don't think I said trade him anywhere?! Comparing Nylander to Kane is a huge stretch... and take a breathe man, no one wants you to hurt yourself! LOL HH
-
I won't rise to your bait as it seems pretty obvious how easy that would be.... Comparing Nylander to either of those players is a bit of a stretch! LOL To be clearer, my concern with Nylander is that when things start getting tighter, as the season progresses, he's going to find less room and time and he is going to slowly disappear. He needs to get stronger/bigger and he needs to develop are tougher approach to playing or he is going to get crushed, should the Leafs ever make the playoffs. HH
-
My only gripe re Nylander is that he is soft and I don't see him getting "harder" with time. Think Hammerstrom, but with better hands and shot. HH

It was only manufactured for a few years in the mid 90's, it was Marshall's answer to the Ampeg CL/VR and their last foray into the big power tube market for bass amps. They are rarer then hen's teeth as they did not sell well when introduced. The asking price at the time could have had something to do with it... $3k+ US! I picked it up from Craig's List a few years ago, for a much better price than it originally sold for... as for being highly sought after, i know I could sell it quickly, should I decide I am too old to move it around anymore. Metal band bass players would likely jump all over it. 250 watts at 4 ohms 400 watts at 2 ohms- to get to 2ohms, one would likely have to run two, four ohm cabs... that is likely to produce 125-135 db... equal to the volume of a 747 taking off! I've seen a few bar owners go white when they see me dragging that thing into their bars! I just tell them it has a volume knob. HH
