  1. closed eye the baits are stronger because of, the chincy r bends ones get bent all out of shape with one decent fish i really htink the mfgs just went to r bend to reduce costs
  2. I get about 20mpg hwy in my v8 grand cherokee, it drops to about 16-17 towing my boat package which is just under 1000lbs combined More than just weight is a factor tho, how aerodynamic the trailer is will also impact how much work your vehicle has to do. V6/I6 vehicles tend to have to work harder than v8s when towing so they will burn more 'extra' fuel when towing as well.
  3. depending on the lake and where they hang, a dipsey diver setup may be all you need or get one of those clamp-on portable rigger dealios. they work well.
  4. Still prefer mono on the ice.
  5. Bring in a white man and point to North America. Did I just say that?
  6. I got a boat to fit my rods
  7. It's a great plan till you have to explain a tan
  8. try to put on some muscle, lift some weights -- it'll make keeping it off afterwards easier; speeds up your metabolism, and gets your body consuming more energy even while you're sitting on the couch munching on celery sticks. while it may be a little difficult on 900 cals / day tho, most people who are overweight can still gain muscle on a calorie deficit before plateauing. good luck!
  9. ahh so it was you that picked it up LOL. i was 'told' to jump on it but noticed the ad was gone be quick or be dead as they say. looks great.
  10. Consider this; an annual repair bill of (let's just pick) $1200 is still less than financing/leasing a car for 300-500 / month. [assuming your older vehicle is paid off] I've never bought new and likely never will. Always used and always in cash.
  11. if he's our of reach of cable or dsl (and I suspect he is in Dundalk) his only option is satellite or a wireless provider (bell, rogers, telus, or a local guy who beams does a similar thing) welcome to the reality of rural high speed internet in canada (3rd world style). it's expensive and limited. we're with rogers and their rocket hub 10gb/month for $52 is their current promotion. 10gb/month is peanuts, don't expect to watch any youtube/netflix
  12. black russian is my wintering drink
  13. The dude abides.
  14. not sure there'll be much in the way of safe ice south of the french river, the exception being maybe some lakes in haliburton. you'll have a drive ahead of you for sure with the forecasted temps.
  15. '01 grand cherokee with 4.7. I see 10-12 on the hwy at a steady 105-110 depending on headwind and season. sounds like anything capable of towing is right around the same range.. 10-13. was thinking these newer models were considerably better. I guess not.. even if they are 1-2 l/100 better, that's a lot of liters/long return on investment to justify a new car payment.

    Head up

oooh might warrant a trip into the big town of orangeville
  17. They are ideal for the smoker (fatty). Smoked eel is delicious and a delicacy in many places. We used to fish for them in the Bay of Quinte (back when they were numerous - propably mid-late 80s). Hope they make a rebound.
  18. the swivels look gimmicky and cheap the tieable wire seems expensive. tieable wire has been around for a while and i think it has its place, how does it compare to tygerleader or cortland products ?
  19. graph works fine, personally, i wouldn't specifically buy a flasher for ice fishing use. my eagle 320 picks up my jig and any lakers coming up just fine. if he has an lcd graph, i'd just tell him to retrofit it to work on the ice, if he doesn't, i'd tell him to buy a graph first. my 0.02.
  20. I'd be more concerned with the ghost behind you.
  21. hawg, congrats JD.
  22. go for it, very good quality. have had mine for several years.
  23. I think we all realize we need the dirt for infrastructure, housing, etc however, I am not sure the highest point in southern ontario, where several headwaters start, on top of some of the best farming land in the region and then digging beneath the aquafir to boot is the best idea/place for it.
  24. as this may have had a direct impact on my drinking water, i too am celebrating this victory. next up, nestle taking the water and bottling it.
  25. Modern high compression engines (whether high compression due natural aspiration or forced induction [turbo/supercharger]) come equipped with a knock sensor that will idiot ignition timing when they detect knock (pre-ignition) for whatever reason (such as running low octane fuel). This is a safeguard to prevent detonation in the engine. The result? Poorer performance (and thus fuel economy) if you run regular in an engine designed to run on premium. Running higher octance fuel in a non-modified engine than what is recommended is absolutely useless -- unless the engine is old and carbed up pretty badly.
