i think the lcd would freeze under normal ice fishing conditions.. you know, when it's cold. pretty gimmicky.

Thanks for your input bare foot wader. We are casting 3-4oz+ baits so I am not too concerned with difficulting casting, the reel is mag braked so that should help with professional overruns. The lever drag is something I am going have to get used to but by all accounts I hear it's a fairly simple transition. Hopefully it gets here before ice-up. Dan, I'll post my thoughts. Would it be better than a Calcutta 401? Propably not in every way with one exception, the effort req'd to bring those blades in quickly. I think this is a very niche application.

It's on its way. Tranx is Right Hand only and $500. I am getting an AVET (only lefty in this class) for under 200.

Anyone use a non-level wind reel for casting muskie lures? ie. Trinidad's, AVETs How big a deal is the lack of one? Does the line pile-up in one corner? Truly a one trick pony, I will be using it strictly for big blades (10s and 13s). Any tips when it comes to spooling / retrieving / casting for least amount of headaches thanks

fairly certain its a channel cat, that's how they look like up there seen a bit bigger sized one caught on a musky reef in the same area. hit a suick

Until 'real' high-speed with 'comparable to urban area' bandwidth limits comes to rural areas, TV is not going anywhere. Those of you with Cable/DSL available in your area are spoiled!! There is a big divide between urban/rural when it comes to internet service. Will it happen in 10 years? Who knows. But right now, web-based video content is only accessible with someone else's internet.

over rated and over priced IMO. i had them before and prefer the firestone destination a/ts i have on now (which were cheaper to boot) have a look at tirerack.com for comparisons/reviews of all tires.

<looks at rescue vehicle> Shoulda bought a Jeep. JK, that sure looks stuck. Been there, not fun, even in a Jeep. Does the mazda have locking diff(s)?

Areas with current don't turnover because they are constantly turning over. A system like the french has no shortage of slack water areas where the water will stratify in the spring and thus, turnover in the fall. THanks for the info, I am planning on fishing the river in the next couple of weeks when a window of decent weather opens.
-
The french is no different than a lake in many areas and does in fact "stratify" and "turn-over". In my experience the latter usually happens around thanksgiving up there. 2.5 days is sometimes just not enough time, esp when you're stuck with tough environmental conditions. What was the water temp?

stoned polar bear rocks. come to think of it, a lot of them look like they're using something or other.

Both bell and rogers will give you a grace period to try before you buy their hub. Sad part of all this; the state of high speed internet outside major metropolitan areas is really sad in Canada. I'm only 45 mins outside the GTA, smack dab between Orangeville and Guelph. I think we're really far behind in that respect.

this link will tell you the location of all cell phone towers in your area http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html

It works on the same concept as the stick but it's a Hub (has router built in) Bell and Rogers both offer them. The slowish speeds you are seeing are due to i) distance from bell tower and/or ii) amount of traffic at said tower (bottleneck) . Sadly there's not much you can do about either if you use a stick. If you have a hub, there are external antennas available that may help if issue i) is your problem. Issue ii) is all Bell. Having multiple Hubs/Sticks wont address anything other than not sharing the signal. ie. if all three pcs are on the interwebs at the same time, you're sharing that 1.5 down. btw, xplornet is a satellite based technology so no matter how 'fast' they claim their service to be, the latency (ping) will always be slow.. till they figure out a way to put their birds closer to earth. It's just physics, man.
-
'nother country liver and I feel your pain. Not familiar with Storm but find out if Rogers has a closer / more towers in your area. You should be seeing better speeds. They use the same technology as Bell. Come to think of it, Rogers is the only one that offers LTE wireless if you're somewhat close to a major metropolitan area and it'll be quicker still. I have Rogers and I see 5-6 down and 1.5 up consistently.. with a one time peak I saw of 10 down . It slows down in peak periods as you're sharing the tower with whoever. My work phone is Bell and I see consistently higher speeds but there are more bell towers in my area. Rogers had a promotion recently $50 for 10 GB so I went with them.

I think Wayne nailed it, read that post. Someone I know also has this issue with their 90 when coming off plane.. particularly when it's cold out. He had the bushing lubed when he had it in for service but eventually the noise came back. Dealer told him it's nothing to worry about.

check costco or the paper for any current deals i know firestone had a decent deal on their tires recently, maybe it is still going on. i am real happy with my destination A/T tires. the destinations are well rated and come in a H/T tire as well.

I use the 8'6" telescopic Okuma for a lot of the real heavy stuff. No complaints, had it for two years.
-
Yea, definately don't stop. Speed it up, a quick change of direction, do something to make it appear that your bait is attempting to flee. Figure eight till your back can't take it no more. We had a fish do the 8 for a good 2 minutes before it ate once.

i could count on two hands the tips the boys at JBs replaced for me on the spot. it's not terribly difficult to do yourself either.. now if you need a guide replaced, that's a different story.
-
5 bucks at JBs or angling specialties and you have a new tip on the spot or a day later. Why bother with $20, waiting weeks and/or driving to the hammer?
-
if you're in the gta take it to jbs or angling specialties

I don't think I've ever spent more than 5500 my current stable consists of a grand cherokee and a toyota tercel. the tercel I bought for 1250 and gets me 38mpg on a 100km round trip daily commute. I can buy a lotta tercels for the cost of a volt or even tdi jetta. let's see you workout the payback on that one not to mention the cheap cost of (liability only) insurance for an older vehicle vs newer one where you'd want (must if you finance/lease) to have full coverage. buying new is for suckas.

the nautilus I have is propably 4 years old, and the walmart brand (forget the name) is 2. Both going strong, can't complain about either of them.

Yep, SAMs is missed truly an icon. I'd always check them out in my teens but always ended up at the Record Peddler for my music needs.
