  1. i'd be using the sealines if they made a lefty.. the convector is one of but a very few options for southpaws in this space. sealines are a much better built reel.
  2. sez cut 102 jobs yet hire 250. what am i missing??
  3. look under the body, you'll find something ie. bumper supports i've loaded canoes on the roof of everything from an old lumina to a mitsubishi eclipse with those foam pads, rope and ratcheting straps. there's always a way using a rope on the front and rear (a piece to the driver's side and a piece to the passenger side both front and rear) and one across the car/canoe through the window with a ratcheting strap. twist the strap so you don't get flapping at hwy speeds. learn the trucker's hitch knot for the rope tie off points and wrap, place rags where you think the rope may rub on the bumper. a properly secured canoe will move the entire vehicle if you rock it. (the canoe).
  4. in case any of you are into this sorta thing, here's a video of the arthur to grand valley tornado last week as captured by a storm chaser i follow on twitter
  5. It only takes one!!
  6. definately dinosaur fossils
  7. that's tornado #2 seen for me this year in the arthur/mt forest/grand valley area and we just moved closer 3 weeks ago (grand valley area). it lifted before hitting town.
  8. if your only complaint was the lack of power in the diesel, test drive one with the 5.7L hemi. it'll push you back in your seat, that's for sure. there's a big premium for the diesel which means you can get a newer model / lower mileage 5.7L for the same price. also remember that the diesel is a turbo and there is a bit of lag, if you're not used to turbo charged vehicles, it can seem like there is a lack of power but once that turbo spools she moves. if there were other issues with it that you didnt like, then carry-on!
  9. Funny you say that, it was 3 years ago when we watched a bear go from campsite to campsite in Captain Allan on either a sunday or monday eve (if it was a long wknd) after campers had left the park presumably searching for anything he could get his paws on.. Got a pic of it swimming somewhere but I didn't notice him carrying any of your belongings. Further out, the bears wont get ya, but the rattlers will.
  10. do any of them even have a 4LO or at the very least a part time 4WD setting? from what I can tell they are all full time AWD systems. that right there limits where they can go not too mention the ground clearance which the GC has plenty of as well as entry and departure angles.
  11. jeep has been around since WWII [ie. the oldest SUV in the world, they invented the word] bill, that's the beauty of the gc.. it has most if not all the creature comforts of the 'premium' brands and can go where none of those mall crawlers can.
  12. those aren't bad choices, if you're looking for something less utilitarian and better interior mirrors to apply your lipstick as you pick up colt and ashley from school.
  13. that don't look like no capt allen strait. you guys were out there -- love the water clarity there. nice fish
  14. i sold my regular/nongrand cherokee with the straight 6 4.0L at 400,000kms motor/trans/xfer case were all still strong (and original). a kid bought it and wheeled it hard for a year after that - it's likely still running if he didn't roll it lol. it's shame they don't make that motor anymore but the newer engines are lighter and more efficient.
  15. can't comment on the diesel motor i wouldn't worry too much about getting stuck at a crappy ramp though. it's a jeep. the overland is the top of the line with a pretty nifty 4wd system that's not quite a true locker but waaaay better than an lsd or an open differential. it will automatically lock left/right side if it detects slip at either side. even if you have one wheel in the air, it will get you out of trouble whereas an open diff will just spin the wheel in the air. 4lo locks front to back and the full time mode transfers power to the front if the rears slip. you are not getting stuck in it unless you do something foolish. it'll handle offroad much better than your yukon if you have a half decent set of tires on it. i own an older GC limited with a v8. i believe the tow rating is 5000lbs. the diesel should be similar. i've towed ~2500lb package with no issues with mine, and towing my boat which is under 1000 -- you don't even notice it's there.
  16. Q: What's the difference between a pike from 8-10 fow and one from 30 FOW in the middle of summer A: About 20 pounds.
  17. carp at the mouth and chubs upstream
  18. no need to whack, just be aware they're there. they're pretty timid snakes.
  19. that new daiwa 400 series in left sounds like just the ticket i am/will be using an avet this year when i get a chance to get out.
  20. I have a question, how did you get your wife to agree to camp with a 10mos old?
  21. thanks Roy, the EverStarts are 27 series. I was hoping to go with a 31 again, just try a different brand. I don't have the specs in front of me but, the 31 series nautilus I have provides significantly more run time than a 27 series. mind you I could almost get two 27 series everstarts and hook them up in parallel for the cost of a 31 trojan.
  22. BPS carries Costa del Mar.. try them on there and shop on ebay to save $$$
  23. i'm looking for a 31 series. nautilus makes one but i'd like to look at a different brand this time. who carries trojan batteries? i'm in the orangeville area but work in mississauga so either area. my costco membership lapsed so kirkland (i dont think they make a 31 series anyway) = no go.
  24. definately needs a bearing upgrade
  25. yes i've read on other sites people having issues with them, not necessarily the ones from luremaking.com just the new style in general. i tried one on a prototype and i did not like it, prefer how the two single clevis work.
