  1. Thanks! Just spewed coffee all over my monitor and keyboard with the thought of that one LOL.
  2. I would only hope someone would do the same if Andy ever went missing!!!! We have been here 5 years and succesfully returned 3 strays (one of them about 4 times but she was a sweetheart and old so we didn't mind).
  3. Yesterday morning about this time the same long range forcast showed way below normal temps for most of March. Yesterday afternoon, 680 news was saying temperatures for March should be about normal. This morning, the long range forcast looks like someone just flipped it upside down! Why am I so confused?
  4. I have to say that I think this thread has generated some fantastic replies and some excellent points of view! Some real eye openers!
  5. I do all my buying on line through Royal Bank but if I buy in today before 3:00 pm, I get the price based on the CLOSE of todays market. Rick's advice was right on the money. Yesterday was an excellent day to buy in as overnignt asian markets recovered significantly which means that NA markets will likely follow suit today. I'm not sure that we have seen the bottom of the barrel yet but even if the market just recovers you stand to make some nice returns on investment. Remember, buy when it is going down, sell when it is going up (so many people do it the other way around!)
  6. Automatics for hunting??????????? I don't see any point in them and you sure wouldn't need one for target shooting. But semi automatics, well I can work the action on my pump almost as fast as you can pull the trigger on a semi..... so what is it going to be next, ban all guns that hold more than one bullet? We'll be back to muzzle loaders before long.
  7. yah, I'm getting tired of all this cold and snow. A few years ago we had ice out on the lake by April 1. last year it was April 11. At the rate we are going this year I'll be ice fishing here when the season opens in May. Grrrrrrrrrrr!
  8. Way to go Dan! That looks like it should be on a calander or something!
  9. Don't ever let anyone tell you that OFC isn't a family!
  10. Could this be what you saw? Worms in perch They are not always stretched out and can apear as a small dot in the flesh.
  11. Well, as usual; I'm a day late and a dollar short! Just remember; getting older is good! Happy birthday!
  12. Tears are Ok Blake, just try to mix a few smiles in there too; remember some of the good times! She will be in your heart forever!
  13. We're OK up here in Lindsay, light rain, -3 C right now but the wind seems to have died down.
  14. Glad to hear you are OK Glen. I have friends in Montgomery, I'll have to try to give them a call today.
  15. Well, when the fish fryer gets posted I'll start bidding!!!!!!
  16. Dan, I trust your and Sis's judgement and I could be way off base here but in my experience: Border Collies are an extremely intelligent breed with an instinctive desire to work. They are also extremely energetic and require a lot of attention, but are very responsive to training. Many Border Collies end up in shelters or rescue groups because families, attracted by their appearance and intelligence, discover that they cannot provide the considerable attention and effort required for this driven, active, easily bored breed. Sue and I have tried on two occasions to rescue border collies, perhaps we just ended up with dogs that weren't suited to us or were beyond our experience. Perhaps they were both dogs with more problems than we were trained to handle. regardless, we tried very hard for both their sake and ours. In many cases, having another dog can help, providing mental and physical stimulation for both dogs. They are better off in a household that can provide them with plenty of exercise and a job to do. Like most herding breeds, they will attempt to herd family members, cats, squirrels, bicycles, cars, or anything else that moves in the absence of other charges. This might even include birds in mid-air. I am not sure that a family with four young children is a good place for this breed. I would be so happy to be proved wrong in this case and I truly hope I am for both the family and the pup! Please let us know what happens and I pray it all works out for the best!
  17. Sam, can I have that one? Team 5 needs it for bait! Nice fish Sam!!!!!!
  18. I don't konw all the numbers but here is what i would suggest: Fridge, lights, and heating if you aren't using wood: propane TV and other electronic things a small generator. Solar power requires big batteries; heavy expensive, prone to failure. I would love to hear more about this though as I am always ready to learn about that which I don't know much about!!!!!!!
  19. I want the fish fryer when it gets posted and if anyone out bids me I am going to come and get you!!!!!!!!
  20. Chill out and relax. Unless you just bought into the market in the last few weeks you are loosing what you had yesterday but you were gaining at an incredable rate anyway so you have only lost part of what you gained. Anyone who invests should be prepaired to see things like this happen, it will recover! it always does, it's a fact! The biggest mistake you can make is to sell when it is going down and buy when it is going up. Two years ago the TSX was at about 11,400 It closed yesterday at somewhere around 13,400. If you have been in the market for a while (and if you are going to invest in the market it should be long term) you are still in good shape. If you invest in the market short term you need help or one heck of a lot of luck!
  21. Ya Irishfield, and she'd donate that to someone that need it if they would let her! I've met a lot of very giving people but Maureen has to top the list! As far as meeting someone quite interesting; Oh, I have met a lot of very interesting people but one that sort of stands out: last October I was invited to spend a night at one of Ray Scott's private lodges in Montgomery AL. It is located on about 11,000 acres of land with it's own private lake (if you don't know who Ray Scott is, just type his name into Google) It wasn't "posh" but it was very comfortable and there weren't servents although I had the pleasure of meeting with a number of people that work for him. This is a lodge that several famous people have stayed at in the past including a number of the Bush Family. (I don't think my name will ever be in the Whos who book, LOL). Anyway, the following day I had the pleasure of meeting Ray in person. he is in his 70's but it sure doesn't show. His eyes are clear, his mind aleart, his hand firm and strong and he has a wonderful sense of humor. Just talking with him you knew he was someone special but not because he tried to make you believe it, you could just feel it! I only got to spend a little while with him but it was something I will always remember!
  22. Those cats must be well fed because that squirrel on the roof doesn't look too worried and I can't tell for sure but it looks like there is another one at the food bowl bottom left. Glad you had a good time, thanks for the pictures!
  23. Good on you! Now, you have to move that boat 160 miles and that can be a bit of a challange depending on where it is and where you want it. If you nee some experienced help, let me know. I have a very good friend who has a 36' trawler and has navigated everything from FL to Northern Ontario. I just know he would be happy to help out if I asked him. By the way..... Good things happen to good people!
  24. Heck, we have beer here that is 0.5% alcohol. Now, that's what I call watered down!
