  1. Cliff, I will bring my auger up too. Just ask for Big Cliff I'll be working the BBQs with my trusty co-cooks. Register, and head out fishing, it isn't a contest really, everyone is there to have fun, help each other and have a good time. There are a few prizes for biggest fish etc. but then there is a draw for prizes also so keep your ticket stubs when you register. There are some really nice prizes to be had. Food is free (donations appreciated) there will be chicken burgers, hot dogs, saussages, hamburgers, hot chocolat, coffee. Right now I believe they are calling for a high of about -4 but sunny, should be a perfect day! Hope to see you and the kids there, it's a fun day and a worthy cause. Big Cliff
  2. Will the town have portapotties there then Moe? Seems if they are having their winterfeast thing they should make some provision for people that have to go.
  3. I didn't forget LOL just figured all the hardware side of things were taken care of, I believe we have a few other BBQs coming too and I will also bring a spare tank. Anyone that has offered to loan us BBQ's Tables, A Coleman stove would sure be handy hint hint...... please bring them, I'd rather we have too many than not enough. Did anyone find out if the washrooms are going to be open or not and if not, can we get the portapotty again this year?
  4. I have both the garmin 76 & the 76 Map. Love them! excellent quality, good battery life, and they do float! (and I'm really glad they do or I wouldn't have two LOL).
  5. Oh Lew, when I read your post all I could think about is "thank god Sheri is OK", That's the second close call she has had in about as many years! She has to have an angel watching over her! Yesterday Sue and I were coming home from a funeral in Toronto on the 401, road conditions were variable from dry to wet to a bit of slush in places. I tend to drive at about 10 km over the limit when road conditions warrent it. At one point Sue asked me if our speedometer was working right because we had people passing us like we were parked. (it's working right cause I've checked it with our GPS). Not a cop in sight and some of these people had to be doing 150+ easily. Weaving in and out of traffic, passing on the shoulder.... and yah, it is the innocent ones that end up in the hospital because they avoide the accident. Really glad to hear that Sheri will be OK Lew!
  6. That is just beautiful Pam. I am always amazed at how people like you and Roy (and many others on here) can take a piece of canvas, wood, paper, some paints, inks, tools, and create something of such beauty! Thank you so much for sharing! Cliff
  7. Thats a piss off! More and more devices are coming out with lock codes built into them (my new garmin Streetpilot has that feature) so that even if someone does steal it, it is useless to them. Kind of makes taking the chance to steal it a bigger risk than what it's worth. Won't be long before that feature is available on cameras too I'll bet. Anyway, doesn't change the fact that you are out a camera and some other schmuck has one. I would report it to the manager of Tim's and the cops anyway though, they may have had other reports and it might help in catching the dink!
  8. Morning to you Steve! I'd be checking that one out with MNR but like Lew said, wouldn't make any sense to change it. I tried to look it up in the regs but there is no way to tell for sure.
  9. Here is what we have confirmed so far: Tonyb is supplying; Chicken breasts approx. 100> BBQ Sauce ketchup desserts ________________________________ Maureen: 100 hotdog buns (and god knows what else she will come up with, last year her car was packed to the roof) ________________________________ BigCliff & Justherb Mild & Medium Saussages 100 ea. We'll pick those up here Moe. _________________________________ Loonietoon 200 sausage buns 200 packets hot chocolat and styro cups ______________________________________ Tinbanger Coffee & Hot Chocolat, cream sugar, stirstiks, cups, and some extra coffee _______________________________________________________________ We still need a lot of extra stuff and it sure would be nice if we could get some help. We could use: Hotdogs (to go with the 100 hotdog buns) Hamburgers Hamburger Buns Kiser or some other large buns for the chicken breasts Mustard relish chopped onions (or onions and we will chop them there) Sauerkraut Mayo Styrofoam or paper plates Napkins Potable water in case we have to make extra coffee or hot chocolat. some plastic utensils (am I missing anything?) I need to know very soon if any of you can help out here or we are going to have to buy the stuff this week. Please post here if you can help so everyone knows what is still needed. Thanks to all those that have offered to bring equipment, extra BBQS, the trailer, generator, looks like we are going to need all we can get.
  10. When Sue and I started looking for our retirement home one of the things we looked at was a small community that had potential to grow. A lot of our investment portfolio is in realestate. We looked at Parry Sound and it is a beautiful community but we didn't feel that there would be any significant growth there for a long time. It is just too remote. We looked at a lot of other places as well and finally settled on Lindsay for many reasons. Property values are still reasonable, new industries are frequently coming into the area, GO transit will soon be expanded to Pontypool (a short drive from here), the 407 ETR is soon going to be extended all the way to the 115/35, and Hwy. 35 is going to be expanded to 4 lanes. All these things are going to help the area grow but you can still have the small town atmosphere in a rural setting. (there are many other factors but I'll save that until I know if you are interested.) If you think you might be interested in learning more about the area, let me know and I'll be happy to get some information together for you. Heck if you'd like to come up for a weekend and spend a bit of time looking around, we have a nice guest room you'd be welcome to use
  11. Guess you are glad I'm not your boss! I hope you enjoy your trip and realize how lucky you are!
  12. You know what, I was having a bit of a rough day today (probably feeling a little sorry for myself) but that news just changed all of that..... It's a wonderful day!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for the update but I think I'll just keep on saying a little prayer just for good measure!
  13. I don't know how many times I have heard "my family comes first"! Well, without a job what are you going to do to take care of your family, go on welfare? I've never had to do it but I have seen families that did and it wasn't a pretty sight! Over the years of running my own business I don't know how many times I had an employee call in " I have a headache so I won't be in today", I was out until 3:00 am so I'm not feeling well I'll see you tomorrow", "My girlfriends want to go to Niagara Falls and I want to go with them so I won't be in tomorrow........." They didn't care if customers orders weren't being shipped or bills weren't getting sent out. Those were the same employees that were all ticked off when it came time for a promotion or a raise and they didn't get one. The people that got ahead were the ones that took their job seriously, believed that they had a responsibility to the company and to our customers and they earned the promotions and raises. They were also the ones that had job security! So if you really don't care about your job then why would you expect your employer to care about you????????
  14. Wish I could but I buggered up my knee playing ball hockey last Saturday and don't think I'd be able to do all that walking. Enjoy the show and if you get a chance see if there is anyone there selling lure making supplies and molds for sinkers. I think I would like to get into doing some of that stuff and am just starting to try to get some contacts. Hope you enjoy the show!
  15. Yah! Beans LOL. Thermous of hot tea, spamwhiches, some times I take along some venison pepperetts, or prosuto and fresh buns. Having a high calory lunch when you are out in the cold all day is really good for you!
  16. Ok, from a bosses perspective; You were hired because they needed you there to do a job and you knew when you took the job what your holidays were going to be. When you asked for the first week off, they were considerate enough to allow you to take it even though you weren't entitled to it. Now, you want more holidays? When you hire an employee it is because you need that person to do work that is necessary, if that person isn't there and the work isn't being done, it is costing the company money. So, unless they hired you with the condition that you could work at your convenience, I think you have an obligation to be there when you are supposed to. As others have suggested though, perhaps this isn't the right job for you and you might be happier working somewhere else.
  17. While many of the ideas sound like they would be a nice way to get back at them, Verno's idea is probably the most practicle. I think I'd give that one a try first.
  18. I wouldn't buy one on line unless you have had a chance to try a few out and know exactly what style and size you want. Mine is a Buoy-O-Boy and it does everything I need, I picked it up at the sportsman or fishing show a few years ago on special for about $200.00.
  19. Down in Myrtle Beach, four of us, all 60+ at TGIF's and the waitress carded us. (and she actually checked for the birthdate on my license). I thought it was some kind of a joke or promotion or they had a seniors discount or something but no. She said she carded everyone regardless of how old they looked It was good for a laugh!
  20. When you own one, as Tomcat said "Keeping it on was a no brainer - I hardly knew I had it on.". Now there are some "no brainers out there......!" I think its' called Darwin's theory?
  21. I can only imagine Lew! I have had to deal with some tough stuff in my life... I don't think I am man enough to deal with a phone call like that! I'm not afraid of very many things but that would be my greatest fear! I guess its the greatest fear of any parent! Sadly, it happens to someone every day.
  22. I bought an inflatable at CTC last spring. It isn't an automatic but I fish alone at night quite often and was more worried about perhaps falling overboard while trying to pull up the anchor or something stupid rather than getting knocked out and finding myself in the water. I think it was one of the best investments I have ever made! With the regular PFD's I often left it setting on the back of my seat (lot of good it would have done me when I was in the water) but it was uncomfortable and restricting. I went fishing to relax and enjoy myself. The inflatable PFD is so comfortable that many times I have come in from fishing and put the boat away, walked up to the house and only then realize that I have it on. (Usually because Sue tells me LOL). Either one is better than no PFD or a PFD left sitting in the boat while you are in the water but I won't ever go fishing again without mine!
  23. You know, I am really glad you posted this! I really hate to think of the post I could have been reading right now! Glad to hear you are here to tell us about it.
  24. From the sound of it, paternity isn't the only thing they should be getting tested for!
