  1. Well, you know what, Lew is one of the biggest contributors on this board and he is a friend. I don't have his phone number but if someone has it please PM it to me! If he just wants to take a break then so be it but I just need him to tell me that! He sounded sad in his last post! that is not the way it should be! Lew, if im invading your space, I apologize! Big Cliff
  2. Has anyone heard from Lew? I've been watching the board all day for him, I'd just like to hear he is OK after that post yesterday afternoon!
  3. Yah but don't look for him to be sitting in any boats, he is going to be busy as co-cook. I will also bring my auger and a couple of rods and reels. Man I am so excited about seeing everyone again ( especially Joey's smile) (it's Ok Paul, I'm a very happily married man LOL).
  4. Well David, I have a nice home, raised bunglo walk out basement in Snug Harbour on Sturgeon Lake. Down stairs is a large guest room with a queen size bed, large family room with gas fire place, TV, and a 4 piece bath room. Everything is quite new and very clean. I am thinking of putting a small efficiency type kitchen in and a second bedroom with two bunk beds. We have a large lot with good water access, lots of room for parking, excellent, safe water access 4' of water at the dock and no rocks or stumps to worry about. There is excellent fishing right off the dock which is 20' wide by 15' deep. We catch carp durring the day, pickerel in the morning and evenings and just about anything that is in the lake during the day including the odd muskie. We are right at the point where the Scugog River enters into Sturgeon Lake so even on a windy day we can access the river if we want to and still get some good fishing in. There is an excellent boat launch just 4 doors from us and I believe they only charge $10.00 for in/out and you could park at our place. I'm not interested in guiding but love to cook and take care of people. So I was thinking that if I could hook up with someone that loved to guide.... I could provide a nice place for them to bring clients for a lunch as simple or as fancy as you would like. A comfortable place for a pit stop or shelter from a storm. A place for their clients to spend a night or two, or even yourself if it was more convenient for you. Perhaps a place to go for a break between the afternoon and evening bite. If people wanted lunches packed, or supper, I'd be happy to provide that too but I'm not interested in running a restraunt or anything. I don't want to turn this into a JOB! Anyway, lots to think about, I'd still have to make sure that I wasn't in violation of any by-laws or anything and I'd really want to talk to some more people that run B & Bull or that sort of thing. Any ideas or input both pro and con would be most welcome. PS. Moderators; if at any point, anything posted on this thread is considered to be spam or not appropriate please remove it with my blessing! I have too much respect for the members of this board to want to test any boundries!
  5. I wish we were closer Gerritt, there are lots of things going on up here with all the development that is going to be happening this spring there are going to be lots of jobs available in the Lindsay/Peterborough area. Good luck in your job search!
  6. Cliff, that is an excellent link, the world needs more like it. Thanks!
  7. VERY WELL SAID TJ! I'll be interested in seeing if they respond and if it makes any difference but why not copy that to the CRTC as well! Good for you!
  8. LOL Thanks Terry but I think my guiding days are over. My boat still works well but it is old, I would need a whole lot of new equipment, and I just don't take catching seriously enough any more. (fishing now, that's a different story) I'll leave the guiding to the pros!
  9. I would be interested in finding out who if anyone is planning to do any guiding on Sturgeon lake this year. If so have you guided here before, and when. (A bit of background on what you offer in services, species) Would you be interested in having a B&B available to you or your guests located right on the water or a place to stop for a nice shore lunch or a meal. If I was to advertise a B&B would you be interested in doing some guiding if guests wanted it? I'm just doing some thinking here. I have asked for the information but if you are worried about your response being considered spam then please PM me.
  10. That is sad to see. There are some things that insurance just can't replace. I hope that when you have a chance to get in there most of it will have survived.
  11. Sinker has a really good idea there, it will make hooking up much easier and a trailer jack with a wheel will be a big help making those final adjustments. Just make sure that your hitch is suited to the boat and tongue weight that you are going to be towing.
  12. Nice intro! Welcome to the board! Do you have a cottage on Sturgeon Lake or do you trailer over here to fish?
  13. I think the word "Friend" is often missused and I believe there are different levels of friendship. A casual friend; someone who you are happy to see and spend some time with, you may not have a lot in common but you are comfortable with them. I have a lot of people that I enjoy spending time with but they don't hunt or fish. They are just fun to be with. Close friends; people that I know I could count on to go out of their way to help me if I was to ask for help and I would do the same for them. That doesn't mean we talk every day or anything, sometimes we might only see each other a few times a year but if we ever need each other..... As an example Lew, if I called you and asked you to come up here as soon as you could because I really needed you, would you come? I'd bet you would as quickly as you know I would for you. A close friend is a person on whom you can confidently rely on to help pull you through the hard times, and hold you accountable for your actions. A friend is loyal. A friend will not judge you for who you are, but they will help you to grow in life. Best friends; Well, there are a lot of people that I like and respect very much but to say that any one of them is "My Best Friend"! I think I would have to reserve that for my wife, my kids, and my dog Andy. Then there are those other people that call you friend but will stab you in the back the second they get the chance. It's too bad that things like that have to happen but they do. In the end, they are the big loosers. I tend to trust everyone until they show me that they can't be trusted, I've taken a few in the back but compaired to the number of close friends I've made.... it was worth it. Well, that's my perspective anyway.
  14. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The death of someone close to us is one of life's most stressful events. It takes time to heal and each of us responds differently but you can be sure that we will help in any way we can!
  15. What Cookslav just said!!!!!!!! Cayo coco; haven't stayed there but some friends did and they much prefered Varadero. As for flying out of Toronto, you can usually find a deal where you can stay one night and park for up to 14 days. last time we went with holiday Inn on Airport Rd. $114.00 for the room and included parking for 2 weeks.
  16. I guess this proves one thing; They do live on forever in our hearts!
  17. I think a lot of it depends on who you are buying it from. I sold a Minn-Kota bow mount a few years ago. When I sold it I believed it was in perfect working order. It turned out there was a problem with it so I took it back and had it repaired at my expense. I didn't make as much on it as I would have liked but I was happy that I never had to be ashamed to face the person that bought it from me. My word is worth a lot more than money to me, unfortunatly not everyone is like that. Just be careful!
  18. Largemouth, don't give up on the family just because we hit a little bump in the road from time to time. I too have modified my posting from time to time because of trends but I stand ready to help anyone anytime even if it means I have to PM them so as not to broadcast information that may affect someone elses fishing. If you have chosen to return under a different name for whatever reason then welcome back and I do hope you will contribute with fishing related posts or in whatever manner you choose.
  19. There would be so many members of this board that I would love to spend two days with. I'm not going to even try to list them all, in fact there aren't any that I can think of that I wouldn't like to spend two days with because everyone always teaches me so much. I guess that if I had to really pick though it would be my son and daughter. Every second I spend with them is so precious! I would love it if my son, daughter, and two grand daughters could spend a weekend camping together down the French or something. Perhaps some day!
  20. largemouth, I guess you just haven't been around here long enough. Our common bond is fishing but we are about so much more than just fishing. We've all seen what happens to the boards that are JUST ABOUT FISHING. I hope you'll hang around here long enough to become a contributing member of the family!
  21. OFC is a Family and just like any family we have our moments but when you want to see the true colors of the members of this board, just need a hand or a sholder, you will be overwhelemed with the response!
  22. Well, you could cut the vinal with a hacksaw if you have one, use the finest tooth blade you have, you will have to clean the burr off the edge after but that isn't too hard to do. A bit of sand paper or even an exacto knife will do it. I do have a vinal cutting knife here that I could bring with me on Saturday if you want, that and a good straight edge will do a fairly nice job for you. Someone else might have a better way of doing it though.
  23. I didn't reply earlier because I don't know anything about the smaller motors but I have a 1986 55hp oil injected suzuki and it runs like a dream, I have never had to do anything to it other than regular maint. so I can't really tell you much about that. If I was going to buy a new motor tomorrow though I would probably go with a Honda 4 stroke. Not because I have anything against the Suzuki, I just like what I see in the Honda.
  24. Way to go gang! Just had a very nice PM from Roy and he is going to help Justherb and I with covering the cost of the saussages, Thanys Roy! Very much appreciated! Beans, Justherb and I will be on the road by 5:am should put us in there by 6:45 so we can start getting organized. I'm getting all pumped!!!!!!!!
  25. It's our own fault! Almost anyone can get the Government to kick in money for nearly anything if you just yell loud enough, get petitions signed, and get in their faces! It happens almost everyday. If you don’t feel that our money should be spent like that then you have a choice, you can sit around and whine about it and watch your/our money be used for whatever or you can make more noise, get more petitions signed, and be more in their face and have a say. You choose!
