  1. I had a trailer on Katchawanooka Lake in the Kawarthas for 36 years and there was an Osprey nest on an island near us and there was a family of birds in that nest for that entire time. Really nice to watch them raise their families year after year. There's been 5 or 6 different families of Osprey off and on over the years in different nests but none ever used the same nest for as many years. A family of Bald Eagles also took up residence on the lake a few years back but they seem to have left the lake this year for some reason. Wonder if it had anything to do with all the Ospreys ??
  2. I like to keep ALL my release tools in the SAME place on the front deck ALL the time cause there's nothing worse than needing something right away and you can't find it. I can put my hand on whatever I need, even in total darkness, without even looking. You get used to where they are and it just makes life simpler when you need a tool in a hurry. Knipex cutters are expensive and you don't want to drop them in the drink when your cutting hooks in the net, and a good trick I learned from a friend was to attach them to a boat cleat with an extendable telephone cord. The one I use can reach anywhere in the boat and if I drop them over the side it's not a problem.
  3. Don't know what your doing, your gonna use an old boat and a 56 year old motor I'd stay away from Simcoe completely, but that's just my own opinion.
  4. When I bought this place in March and notified my insurance company they also requested the photograph of the tank and the questionaire to be filled out. Everythings good though as it's ULC approved. Perhaps with the threat of a leak from older or non-approved tanks, this is the new norm for insurance companies. On a positive note with insurance companies though, when I moved from Toronto to the country my truck insurance went down $500 per year, and that's a good thing.
  5. Grandfathers are special people. Condolances to you & yours Marvin.
  6. I got one on Upper Buck a couple years back that was also missing her upper jaw Matt, just like yours, and she also appeared to be very healthy.
  7. Awesome smallie, infact a true brute !!
  8. The circuit board on those PD's has been a constant source of trouble since day one.
  9. Some very impressive fish for everyone involved there Cudz & congrats on the win. It's always fun when you can make things a bit more interesting with a little competition against buds.
  10. I'm like you Terry and use seperate units as well. I've got the 7" Globalmap GPS on the dash in front of me and then I put a 5" sonar on the other side. No room for both on my side but no problem seeing it on the passenger side.
  11. I can't comment on that particular unit, but I'm thinking you'll be happier with a larger screen. Once you split the 5" screen to view both sonar & GPS at the same time your left with 2 very small images. Moving up to a larger screen makes a HUGE difference. Just my own personal opinion though
  12. Hey Sis, next time your talkin to Mahumba, will you please tell him I'm still waiting for the glass musky lures he was sposed to send me 5 or 6 years ago. He'll know what I'm talkin about

  16. I'll give 2 boat related stories involving thieves. Story # 1....For years we had a house trailer in a small park in the Kawarthas and I always left my boat in the water all summer long. I bought a brand new boat in 1985 and decided to chain it to the dock when not in use. I had to go home on a Friday to work the weekend and my wife was gonna be at the lake with her girl friend so I unlocked the boat so they could use it. Saturday morning the girls head down to the lake to go for a boat ride and the boat is gone from the dock The lady that owned the park lived right beside the water and my dock and when Diane enquired about the missing boat, the owner said she heard it start up and take off at 4:00 A.M. She knew I was a very early riser so just assumed it was me going fishing. The police were called, plus a few of my buds went out on the lake to search for it and sure enuff they found it 5 miles away run up on a beach. No serious damage was done and the thieves were never found. Story #......2 It was in the same trailer park about 20 years ago when 4 loud mouth punks rented a cottage for the summer. They were all about 18-20 years old and none of them worked, but they had an old bassboat with a big motor and they just roared around the lake all day long. We wondered where they were getting all the $$ for gas and then after awhile guys in the park were having gas stolen from their boats. One of our boys had an old Jerry can and put in 2 gallons of gas and 2 gallons of COKE, then left it sitting on the seat of his boat, and sure enuff it was empty in the morning. We sat down at the beach in the morning and watched the punks take off for a boat ride but they only made it a very short distance before the motor gave up the ghost. It wouldn't start and they had to flag down a passing boat for a tow back to the dock. They hauled the boat & motor of to a mechanic but said later it would be too expensive to repair They left the park shortly after that and were never seen again and nobody ever had any gas stolen again either after they left

    New Reel

With the exception of a few folks around here, there's never been a problem with sharing info on stores that give good service and prices.
  18. Art's a good dood for sure Spiel Couple years back I'd mentioned that one of my favorite musky baits was a large jailbird coloured Suick. Awhile later, we were all up at Lakair for the June g2g and Art surprised me with a gift of an 11" jailbird Suick....that he'd custom made himself. A good friend indeed !!
  19. There's another one.
  20. I'll bet Averie is real happy to call you Dad. Excellent post Ryan.
  21. You already know my feelings Jim

    New Reel

You don't need to look to the States for big price differences compared to Canada, cause we've got some crazy differences right here at home too. I bought a trolling reel from JB's a couple years back for $385, regular price, and the exact same reel was selling at BPS in Vaughan, the same day and also regular price for $515.......$130 different for 2 stores only a couple miles apart. Certainly pays to shop around.
  23. I honestly don't know if I have the equalizer or not Art, but the way you describe things I would spose I do.
  24. Wow, those are some huge fish from what appears to be a small river. I've never tried river fishing but I can sure see what the attraction is
  25. I also have dual tanks Albert, but I just always leave the selector switch in the "both" position and everything works fine with both tanks draining equally. Can't see any reason it won't work just as well with bypassing the selector switch altogether the way you want to do it As for the primer bulb, I'd think CTC would probably be your cheapest place.
