  1. It's definetely been a long time Sis and it's good to see you back on board.
  2. Atta boy Steve, being a good guy definetely payed off in spades for you today. That's one gorgeous fish for sure and certainly well deserved my friend !! I also think that's one of the best fishing tales I've read this year
  3. If you haven't been in the middle of a big storm on the Atlantic Ocean, with waves the size of hockey areans, it's hard to explain what it's like, but it's something you'll never forget. It's kinda the most exhilarating thing you'll ever go thru while also being the most terrifying, if that makes any sense As for Hurricane Hazel, I was also 7 years old and remember it very well, although we lived in the east end of town while the major damage and 83 deaths occurred in the west end around the Humber River valley. We lived down by Lake Ontario near Ashbridges Bay but my folks had just built a new home at Leslie & Lawrence in Don Mills and that was the day we were moving into the new home. I remember very vividely seeing the movers carrying our furniture out to the truck and everytime they set something light down on the sidewalk it would take off. Good thing we had lots of friends on the street cause they were all kept busy chasing our belongings around the nieborhhood. Funny memories for me as a child but very tragic for thousands of other Torontonians.
  4. I had nothing to do with making that picture Roger, it was all Terry's handiwork from a few years back. He just combined a picture of me with a musky and a painting of the ship I served on in the Navy. It's a funny picture and just seemed to fit this thread
  5. The lake runs east - west bassmasta as does the boating channel. No GPS numbers for you, just be more careful on the northern 1/2 of the lake and watch for the shoals. Lotsa good islands to fish around and as Dax suggested, there's some nice muskies in those areas, although very few of the larger ones. Some shallow sections on the lower half as well but not as bad and there's also nice weeds along the southern shore too. Best of luck to ya !!
  6. It's been a proud century Will, and Roy, I see you've been doing your homework again....sharp as always !!
  7. Just be careful as the waters north of the channel are shallow & rocky. Very pretty lake with excellent fishing.
  8. I'm all set
  9. I've only ever stayed at Merlins once and that was the 1st ever OFC fall g2g a few years back and it was a very positive experience. Myself & 3 others had a cabin booked and when I got there early I commented to the owners that the cabin may be too small for our group. Without hesitation they moved us into a large cabin, number 10 if I remember correctly, and only charged us the fee for the small cabin. I'd go back again.

    RANT!!!!

Lots of us worked in hot places Paul, ya just to have cool thoughts
  11. If I was limited to only one bait for muskies I'd make it a very large black spinnerbait with orange blades. You can fish it fast or slow, deep or shallow and it works equally well going over rocks, sand or thru thick weeds. It's also VERY productive being trolled or casted.
  12. Don't be intimidated by a baitcaster, their just another tool in the box and are very easy to use once you've had a bit of practice. Once you get the hang of it you'll be casting effortlessly and not even thinking about what your doing.
  13. And use the night stick to hold the donuts
  14. 14 day forecast for the Peterboro area shows declining temps starting this weekend and a high of only 8C in 2 weeks. I'll take 8C over a 35 humidex any day of the week
  15. Very very nice indeed !! Some serious talent for sure.
  16. Johnny, most of the guys I fish with use 71-01-200. I use 71-11-200 which is the same cutter, except it has a spring loaded handle which makes it easier to operate with one hand.
  17. Get yourself a set of Knipex cutters Pete, they cut thru big hooks like butter. If you need to cut heavy hooks in a hurry, like when you've got one in your hand and a nasty fish on the other end, those cheap CTC cutters are no good. Their expensive but well worth every $$$$ http://www.knipex.com/index.php?id=1216&L=1&page=group_detail&parentID=1367&groupID=1473
  18. Haven't heard of DSI since Jamie left the board Definetely some nasty spots around there if your not paying attention to where your going.
  19. I stopped bass fishing a number of years ago and had a ton of good gear I no longer needed so I sold everything. I had 5 Shimano V-rods along with Castaic & Curado reels and a bunch of tackle boxes full of lures and everything was just sitting here collecting dust. I also sold off 4 St. Croix musky rods that I wanted to replace with Compres Some went to friends and what was left was sold thru the OFC classifieds. Not much sense in having a bunch of stuff taking up room and not being used when someone else will appreciate buying it and saving a few $$$$ in the process.
  20. That's great Aaron, congrats on the win !! Amazing number of huge fish too.
  21. Happy B-Day my friend and all the best to ya !!
  22. Fun stuff Joey, good to hear you guys enjoyed your day. Looks like you've got your boat rigged up really nice now for downrigging.
  23. Nasty critter for sure Matt
  24. Good to have you back Rich, it's been a long time.
  25. Your right Joe, I DO like it and your gonna be real happy you bought it too, those Safari's are excellent vehicles that just keep on going. I've bought 2 brand new ones and drove them both for 5 years and never had so much as a hiccup with either one. And I agree with Dave, I don't know why they were discontinued. Hafta tell ya though, I'm pretty happy I've now gone over to the dark side
