I can see the local jerks buzzing the ice fishing huts they don't recognize...Not everyone has the resources to travel north to fish so every spot we lose hurts....We are already limited here with just a few decent lakes....Thank you slobs..

If you weren't in Sudbury I would say yes it's too heavy to be on the ice....but with the cold you guys get, you will be fine....moving it in slush or deep snow may take some work though... Even if it dosen't work out as a hut, it would make an awesome bunkie for a cottager..

pasha lake cabins. what to expect?
pics replied to michigander fisherman's topic in General Discussion
I've heard good things about North Wind but it can get incredibly rough on a windy day. Their boats are the right size for that lake but if you bring a 5 hp motor it will get you into a lot of smaller lakes where the resort has boats stashed. On one of our secret lakes we caught an average of 25 fish an hour each but we had to carry our motor, gas and equipment about a half mile...As far as I know the jackfish has a two fish limit and a slot size... -

The fishing can be incredible if you hit the right lakes. The locals make sure they keep their good spots a secret so do some exploring and be prepared to work a bit. If you're in good physical shape and can carry a small boat or canoe into a back lake, you should find decent fish. -
The OFAH provides a voice for fishermen(and women) and hunters. Even if you don't agree with the politics of it all,you need recognition in the cities where most decisions affecting us are made.

Be thankful if you get anything at all from your employer.....Mine has no party, no bonuses and they don't let too many off during the holiday season.. We get a nice little letter telling us if we call in sick in the two weeks before Jan 2, we can expect disiplinary action that is more severe than the usual....which means a days suspension for each day taken off, sometimes even when you have a doctors note...if you're scheduled in on Christmas, too bad....some years they might let us trade shifts with someone who is off if they feel like being nice. But only if you can find someone who wants to work it...

The colorado mated with a small diesel and a six speed would be awesome....North American car makers seem reluctant to build them....
-
I have a colorado and if I had a choice I would get a full size with a small 8cyl to get more power and room with the same gas milege....The brake system is a nightmare and big bucks to repair and the factory Aluminum wheels are crap but otherwise it's a good looking truck...

Looking at the picture tells me that there is a dip under the mat and that the water travels towards the foundation and the crack...Maybe as a quick fix you could tar the wall and put some cold patch in the low spot... what it really needs is to be regraded and sealed properly. At the very least extend the downspouts away from the foundation....

It sure would have Dave...lots of anger Friday..

looks like it was on only in the morning...

It was nice to see so many retirees today!!

It was tough to focus on work that day but almost nothing will stop production in a steel shop....we had to soldier on and keep working....only the big power outage stopped us....
-
I was also in that day...working on 6 vessel with a bunch of us crowded around the radio....
-
There's a ramp there somewhere...the cottages all have motorboats....stop and ask. lots of friendly people around.

try the lake near the group camping area...decent fishing, nice scenery and great blueberry picking.....
-
The regular carp we have devastated Binbrook by uprooting all the vegetation and stirring up the water. The suspended clay then choked out the light from the underwater weeds.... So we have a fishbowl with little weeds.. Come fish them out of the lake, would ya?

14 walleye and 3 pike in 4 trips this year. The three pike were all the same size so it must have been a good spawn that year.

My linkSome of the lakes are ones that the outfitters offer day trips on. They do the same thing, stash a boat and fly people in for the day. The problems come when both are there at once. We don't go in where there are permanent camps though. There are so many lakes, you don't have to fish any lake more than once or twice...Pasha Lake Camp has a drive-to lake that they call the lake of a million Walleye...check it out on their website..

I have no idea what the names of the lakes are...we aren't allowed to turn on a GPS on the way in or at the lake...I'm surprised he doesn't blindfold us..lol..All I can tell you is that we drive for and hour and a half north on roads that get progressively smaller and smaller until the brush rubs both sides of the truck. Then we walk 100 yards further, turn into the bush and walk for another 20 minutes....The boats and motors are brought in by snowmobile in the winter and they have to be well hidden from the fly-in guys...they have a habit of chopping holes in boats that are stashed...Big lakes on crown land...go figure

Well then, the pike should be prime when I get up there later this week!!! We'll be staying at a house in town so we can spend three days on Nipigon, another on a small brookie lake, a couple of walleye and pike lakes as well...the best part about going fishing with a local is having access to many so-called fly-in lakes that have boats stashed at them....usually a 20 minute hike through the bush from unmarked former logging roads....

Yes Dave, I'm going with Andy and we are meeting up with his brother (who is the original owner of Pasha lake Camp)and he will be our guide... jig flies sound good ...We will be stopping at Lebaron's before we go so I will stock up with lots of jig heads...It started out as a 10 day or less trip but has grown to 13 now...needless to say the wife's not thrilled with that but I have to jump at the chance when I get it.....All we have to pay for is gas and food..sweet

We are leaving for Jellico Wednesday...My buddy suggested a Mepps Syclops for the Brookies on nipigon..Any other suggestions?? We'll be staying for a couple of nights in a trappers cabin so we will have plenty of chances to hook into some big fish...I plan on taking a spinning outfit and possible a baitcasting set up as well..(I just need to find an affordable two piece rod for travelling purposes)..There will also be a few days of pike fishing and a few walleye lakes thrown in.....any suggestions would be appreciated..

Your're right on Dave...Worry more about what is in Tilapia and Basa than walleye....most of the time you can see the white and black grubs when you land the fish...There are probably more tapeworms around then people realize...we just don't open the bellies often enough to see them......(sometimes you just have to see what they're eating...)
