I had the same issue when I was crappie fishing in the spring.. I was in a canoe near the shore catching some nice ones right under me and 2 guys on land showed up and put their floats right next to the canoe...

Same thing in Turkey Point... With no other option to launch they have you right where they want you.. what other ramps are there nearby? Port Dover is expensive too but smaller boats can launch in the creek for free...

Every life jacket should have a whistle on it.. especially a child's jacket.. preferably a fox 40 that will work when wet..

I'm sure there are a lot of people besides myself who are checking this thread for the inevitable announcement. The fact that she is holding on goes to show her spirit and will to live.. she is truly one of a kind.. I don't really pray but I will today...

My thoughts are with your family tonight.. she's one tough cookie!!

I'm thinking the ramp is a little too smooth... and most people wouldn't think the slime is a problem. Some boats just don't come off the trailer unless the truck hits water.. It's been a while since I've used this ramp so I can't remember if it's shallow or not..

sounds like Gourmet Meats.. great place with very good quality.. They have a smokehouse on site for bacon etc..

once a vehicle is submerged all the wiring harnesses and electronics are toast. The new parts plus installation would quickly surpass the value. People learned the hard way with Katrina cars that showed up for sale..it doesn't take long for things to go bad.. It's a good ramp normally but being in a sheltered bay makes the water very warm and susceptible to slime...

2 in a week! The free launch is in a sheltered bay which warms up enough to allow for seaweed and algae to make the ramp slippery...lol http://www.thespec.com/news-story/5751420-two-trucks-slide-into-bay-at-hamilton-boat-launch/

One of my favorite books is about swamp and bogs.. it explains each plant in detail and what the natives used it for.. water Hemlock was a common suicide plant because it is quick and relatively painless..

Medhurst Lake - The Perfect Father & Son Fly In Trip!

Beautiful trip and story.. thanks Mike! -
There's a lot of behind the scenes politics with first nations government. This is why self government would not work in most communities at this time. A young native I know was being groomed to be chief of a small band but he chose a career in policing instead.. he saw the writing on the wall. I can only imagine the turmoil in the band when the suspect seems to be related to the chief..

Interesting.. I wonder if it has been contracted out?.. we figured we would know by next Friday either way

After watching the latest update on the apple documentary (where they send in an undercover journalist into the factory), I wouldn't ever buy one.. I'm not saying any other manufacturer is better but when you have 150 some odd billion in cash on hand ,you need to have all your ducks in a row when it comes to treating people right.. They are WAY over priced..Apple claims to make 248 bucks on each phone but it could be double that according to the documentary.... they seem to break easy as well....

My dad recently bought a 5th wheel and trailer used as a package.. low miles on both for about half of the retail new price.. because it's a dually it costs more to register and license and requires a yearly inspection.. he's happy to park and set up but with the option of touring with the truck.. anything close by and they use folding bikes..
-
5 th wheel if you like to set up camp, then explore.. towing a boat would be nice but I doubt it would be used enough to justify dragging it around . Some of the trailers nowadays have enough room to store an inflatable if you want to fish.. if you plan to fish in Ontario then I'm almost certain someone on this board would be more than willing to entertain you.. as for living down East...that's an easy decision, especially if you have the means to leave during the winter..lol
-
I would say he's got off easy.. better to learn this way than the hard way which would be clinging to a cushion out in the lake... my buddy and I rescued some fishermen 20 odd years ago at quinte. Only one of the 5 had a proper life jacket.. they were very close to drowning...

16 events are qualifiers for the Olympics . My wife was elated to win tickets to the equestrian event..not something I would watch but her and my daughter are very excited.. front row too..

This is a good reminder for me to get my kit together for moose hunting in late September.... no cell service and radios have little range where I go... -
Well, it has taken a year but I am finally saying GOODBY to BELL
pics replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
I parted with Bell after a sales girl in their store told me I only had a couple of months on my cell contract...turns out she was wrong and I owed a couple of hundred bucks after I cancelled my contract... bye bye.. -
Earlier in the season bluff bar can produce 20+ pike days.. I've had some 20-30 fish days(bass) out there on the main lake..look for structure...nuff said..

A Solo Roady North II. "Fishin' Impossible."
pics replied to Moosebunk's topic in General Discussion
A guy I hunt with has intimate knowledge of the area. The lake was hit pretty hard before the gate leading in was put up but it looks as if it has recovered nicely .. he figures that only one in seven lakes up there has decent fishing and he never tells a soul when he finds a good one because it's easy to fish them down. My best day of fishing had us catching 20-25 walleye an hour in a relatively small lake... sadly, life has gotten in the way of any more trips up for fishing..- 49 replies

Awesome trip! Timing is everything when it comes to specks in that area. My buddy was just up there and they caught 29 with the biggest at 26". I moose hunt south of ORR and the country up there is heaven to me. The September bow hunt can't come soon enough..- 49 replies
