  1. hope its still good. We're spending a week at Pigeon this year and I was hoping to do an overnighter on the island with my boys, leaving the ladies in the comfort of the cottage
  2. congrats on the new purchase! Now time to start counting the days!
  3. wow that thing is mint for 2000. Great looking boat!
  4. congrats to thos involved. Doesn't London win like every year? Or perhaps I'm thinking of Windsor? (clearly I don't follow it too closely)
  5. another vote for the Abu Record 60. A little bit more than the 6500 but worth it in my opinion
  6. fishing (musky)was the exact reason. Now that I've looked into it a bit I think I'll pass.
  7. Thanks for the info/links...I looked into all of them. Turns out there isn't much out that way right on a beach. We did find a private place near Belle River, but same thing, not directly on a beach (there are 8 little kids involved here, wives aren't thrilled about popping them in the car, packing everything up etc). Sounds like St Clair is a good spot for me and the buddy, but not as good for the wives/kids.
  8. I use 150# seaguar for muskie with crimps. For pike I've used both 50# and 60# and I have tied both. Not sure I would tie anything more than 60
  9. Most versatile lure out there...about time you started! At my cottage I actually refuse to use them because it gets too easy to catch pike...need a bit of a challenge. Long story short, pretty hard to fish them wrong. Burn the surface? part way down? jig it back in? and I have even caught a bunch of pike just leaving it laying on bottom! No word of a lie, I have caught several pike leaving a spinnerbait dead on bottom for a few minutes.
  10. zoinks what a giant!
  11. Are there any cottage resorts on L St. Clair with a sandy beach for the kids? We are thinking of heading that way for a week, but have never been out there. Have no idea if the shoreline is "child-friendly" like parts of L Erie would be. Camping is not an option. Hoping to go with another family, so resort would be better than private cottage...unless its a BIG cottage. Any input would be much appreciated.
  12. DY-NO-MITE....would have preferred a real "Good Times" video but Green Day isn't bad either
  13. ...family wedding next week-end..grrrrr
  14. ....sorry, forgot to mention the total weight for the 25 fish was 26 pounds
  15. selecter, fishbone, skaface, villains...man I miss ska
  16. last time I was there we caught over 25 pike (2 guys, 1 day)...I think you'll find them
  17. so jealous!
  18. oh ya, it will be ignorant. I have stopped making any May 24 plans that involve going north if my wife is involved. If its a boys week-end thing, put on the bug helmets and go for it! If the wimmin are coming and want to go for "long romantic walks in the woods" you are toast
  19. Was hoping to go after some pike in Mitchell Lake this spring, but when I drove past a few months back the lake was pretty much empty. Is the water back and did the pike come with it? Or do the pike head for Canal or Balsam when the water drops? We went one day last year and it felt good to annhilate a few pike that are heading through the Kawarthas. Would like to slay a few more this year if I could. If Mitchell is still just a puddle with stumps, perhaps someone could point me in the direction of high pike density in Balsam.
  20. classic, but that ain't nothing. My boss cheated on his wife with an employee...my bosses wife is an angry woman on a good day...did I mention my boss and his wife are still working together in the same building...with me
  21. that place on the 400 just north of Toronto, Rack and Reel in Barrie, Jacob's on Hw 11 just south of Orillia all carry suckers. Also, when I lived in Toronto there was a place on Jane just north of Lawrence that had then (Cousin George's I think it was called)
  22. where are you going to fish? Doesn't make much sense to refer you to a bait shop in Orillia if you're going to Belleville
  23. Happy birthday Brian! Now that you are old, time to start thinking of prepaying your funeral. I will give you a special birthday discount.
  24. thank you for confirming it's him, the jogging and looking much thinner threw me off
  25. WOW, did you inflate those to 40 p.s.i? some look ready to blow!
