  1. how much do you want for the combo
  2. If you were looking to get paid and he wasn't ponying up I would have cut my losses and stop taking him before it got too out of hand. After two trips of nothing I would have cut the guy loose...when he calls to find out why just be honest...fishing is expensive and you have a few people who help you cover the costs. If he wants to fish again he'll do the same! As far as "more than half" this is actually reasonable in my opinion but not easy to enforce. After all, you pay the insurance, tune-ups, new tires etc etc for the boat/trailer...its just hard to ask for more than half. Usually I go half half with people, but then let them buy me a coffee and bagel when we stop. The odd coffee/bagel is nowhere near my cost for operating the boat and keeping it on the road, but its better than nothing
  3. man do I miss ocean fishing. The power of the fish make a smallmouth bass look like a pansy. I once hooked a sailfish about 100 feet from the boat. Mate told me I've got a 45 minute fight on my hands. Didn't believe it until the thing was hundreds of feet away in a matter of seconds. Next 30 minutes was earn a foot, give back 11 inches...by the time I finally got it to the boat I was sooooo done with it!
  4. I took a drive by today, quite a few cars for a weekday I thought, don't any of you guys have jobs!
  5. decent pike, nicely done
  6. good thing it doesn't get icy there
  7. man what a fish. Makes me think one of these days I'll have to try the lake trout thing
  8. that's great! I have 4 little guys who show minimal interest in fishing, I hope someday I'll have days like that
  9. too many perch with bloated swim bladders plugging up the hole!
  10. haha that would have been hilarious. I'll admit the thought of being set adrift certainly entered my mind when we went to Lefroy yesterday. Winds were supposed to be from the west at 40 kms. Turns out they weren't and we didn't have to make a run for it
  11. lots of toppings can be substituted, but for me onions are a must
  12. I was outside playing hockey with the kids in the driveway and you could actually hear the wind coming...10 seconds of that and it was "Dad lets go inside"
  13. wow and I've heard so many people talk about Chautauqua musky fishing I deliberately don't go there!
  14. think of the stupid sunfish at the end of the dock who will get caught over and over and over in a matter of minutes. Now picture a million tiny perch under your feet doing the same thing
  15. If you're looking for a place to catch a million dink perch this is the place to be. We couldn't keep them off the line yesterday. Ice was around 3.5 to 4 inches where we were (30 fow). Very few worthy of keeping (I kept none), my partner kept 8.
  16. I heard 4 inches yesterday but apparently warm weather coming...save it for next year!
  17. zoinks! what a beast
  18. anyone know how the ice thickness is in this area?
  19. you guys are hardcore. 2 or 3 hours of non stop perch is about all I can handle
  20. you call that 2nd ramp toast? I call that 10 minutes chucking the anchor from the bow to clear a path to the open water!
  21. ...there you go...drag bottom and see what you get!
  22. nice report. Still waiting for the wife to tell me to go fishing some day...I'll admit, if that day ever comes I'll be VERY suspicious!
  23. what's an OOD? But on a totally unrelated manner I would suggest looking at Ontario out of Doors
  24. Words to live by, and I'm not speaking specifically about the situation being discussed here. So many people complain in the workplace about their job. Stop complaining and go find something better!...or maybe you're actually the problem and the workplace really isn't that bad!
  25. congrats on the new boat but from this side of the keyboard didn't sound like an easy decision. I think at one point it was being called an agonizing decision. Either way, it sure feels good once you've made the plunge, hope you enjoy it for many years!
