  1. Get new blades. If you didn't mess up the angles where they mount, it will melt thru ice like nothing. You don't have to push down on an auger to cut a hole. Just turn it and it will dig in. NEVER bang it on the ice, NEVER touch the blades, and ALWAYS put the guard back on when your done cutting. I have the 8" fin bore and it will cut through 23" of solid ice in less than a minute......much less actually. S.
  2. Ice out????? Dude, I was driving on 23" of ice today. Break out your auger!! S.
  3. Your only 50?? I thought you were much older than that Happy birthday!!! S.
  4. I've been trying to stay out of this, but I just can't figure out why its OK to kill a wolf fish, and not a wolf? Is it just because the wolf fish is ugly? I wonder how many wolves are actually killed by hunters in Ontario per season? I bet not that many. Not enough to make a difference on populations, anyways. I'd say it takes a lot more skill to kill a wolf, than most other "critters". S.
  5. The tourists will whine about the new limits, but they'll also whine about the small size of fish they catch when they do come up. You can't make everyone happy, all the time. Just wait a few years when rice is full of bull gills again. The fishery isn't the same as it used to be.......even for crappies..........they're just not there like they used to be. The lake gets pounded.......not only by our southern friends. S.
  6. Yup, pretty classless IMO. S.
  7. I stored my gear in the shower down south. No problems.
  8. As long as its just hair, no worries Terry, it will grow back. I think I've seen a hut go up in flames with people in it. Not a nice thing to see, or be a part of, that's for sure. S.
  9. Sounds like it involves propane
  10. Great trip fella's!! Lloyd, that laker is awesome man!! I'm curious to hear what happened to Terry's gear now S.
  11. Yep, that's the way to do it!! It works great........until you have to drill a million holes! S.
  12. I do that all the time with my hand auger Seriously........
  13. East winds almost always bring weather with them. Its that weather that shuts the fish down, not really the wind direction. S.
  14. Yep, those specks live in some nice country, that's for sure. Half the fun is just getting where they live. Its always worth it when your rewarded with this........ And some for you softwater guys too S.
  15. Get one thats a couple years old, with low miles. You'll save yourself thousands. My buddy just got an '07 SLT 4X4 crew cab for $17,000, with 17,000km on it. Buy new, and you lose as soon as you drive off the lot. S.
  16. Just tell her its fresh cucumbers!!
  17. Just cook it like you would your walleye then. I fillet them, and fry them just like any other fish. They're good deep fried in beer batter too. Actually, they're good any way you can get them!! LOL. Try and remove as much fat, and mudline as you can. It makes a big difference. Cut thru the pin bones when you fillet them, then remove them after you skin it. S.
  18. Man, you must REALLY like that boat!! Either that, or someone is paying you to fix it up for them? IMO, its a great anchor!! I hope ya didn't pay anything for that?? S.
  19. Must take a while to bring up 100ft of rope on a trailer winch?? I just pull it by hand. An anchor winch is just one more thing I would break, or get my line caught on. I keep things as simple as possible. S.
  20. As long as your not expecting to launch this boat in the spring, I say have fun. I wouldn't count on launching it for a couple of springs to be honest. You've got a big job on your hands. An old aluminum would be so much less work. Glass sucks. S.
  21. I use a bucket too, works mint. S.
  22. This was in the belly of a 12" brookie. I've seen them with salamanders in thier bellies in the winter. I always fish shallow, and stir up the bottom for specks. Their curious, and they'll eat anything.
  23. Awesome video!
  24. I'd suggest Tim Hales. He's got the best operation and equipment on the lake IMO. Great huts, and has covers for the big holes, just for kids. He's always on good perch water, out of Beaverton. Great huts, great heat, and awesome transportation. Check out his website. S.
  25. Great season Jason! Good on ya for getting the kids involved!! S.
