  1. I'm shocked......the weather man was WRONG AGAIN!!! Not a lick of snow around here. Pray for white stuff, this winter sucks. S.
  2. Here's my opinion: 1. If its the right thing for the dog, do it. 2. If it feels right to you, do it. Legal or not, I don't know, but if it was me and the dog had run its course, and was suffering........... Putting down his dog is one of the hardest things a man has to do. S.
  3. What side of the lake are you fishing?? Location is key. My usual spots aren't producing fish at all, but the new spots I've been checking are loaded. I'm fishing close to deep water, with good green weeds. Most fish are coming out of 6-8fow, but there is 12fow close by. Once you find them, you'll catch them on anything really.......tubes, Fin-s minnows, grubs......minnows. Keep moving until you find fish, that's all I can tell you. We've been having a great time with the crappies, but the eyes are here and there. S.
  4. I'll be happy with 4 between 14-20" You know there is gonna be a fish fry S.
  5. Isn't it 24.8" I didn't look at the regs, I just thought that's what it was. I'll be out there tomorrow S.
  6. In my experience with crappies, if there is one, there is always more. Keep atter Jer, you'll get 'em! S.
  7. One thing I would add is to get galvanized or aluminum. Its worth it in the long run. The price on that trailer above almost seems too good to be true. I'd make sure of what your getting with that deal. I paid $2500 for a 6X12 galv, with 3500lb axle. If your towing it in the winter, get a shield on it too......another thing that's worth its weight in gold. Road salt and grime does a real number on machines. S.
  8. And here I'm praying for snow........you lucky buggers!!! S.
  9. I like the 2 strokers, but that's what I'm used to. I find the 4 strokes ride totally different. I think its just the sound that throws me off. Theres nothing like winding out a 2 stroke!! More responsive IMO. The 4 strokes are a bit heavier too. S.
  10. I understand what your saying hammercarp, and I feel for the guy, but the problem is someones dog was shot by hunters. That makes a great headline, and is VERY easy to sensationalize. Throw it out to the general public, and they will take it for a ride for sure. I know the media turned it all around, and didn't use any actual facts, but that's what they do!!!! IMO, they shouldn't have fired a shot. 6 shots out of shotguns, and only one pellet hit the dog?? That alone tells me these guys were just unloading thier guns, hoping to hit the yote, and that it was out of range. Whether it was a dog or a yote makes no difference to me. I'm assuming they were using buckshot or the likes, because if that dog was hit with a slug or sabot, it would be in much worse shape. Then there is the point of a dog at large. I could go on and on, but I'll stop now. S.
  11. Not quite GTA, but I've had good luck with Eastons on hwy. 115 just north of the 401. I have two of thier trailers, and thier both great rigs. Price was right too. S.
  12. I'm partial to one piece rods myself. Up to 7 feet anyways. After that they're just too long to get anywhere. s.
  13. Most things that get shot will run before they drop, then find a spot to lay down and bleed out. Best practice is to leave it for a half hour or so, then go find it. S.
  14. Are you surprised the media worked it up?? I didn't miss the point, I just kept my mouth shut. I have many things I'd like to say, but I'm not going to here. When the media gets thier hands on anything hunting related, it gets turned around 180. Its too bad the guy is getting harrassed. Hopefully someone gets charged for harrassing him, but I have my doubts. S.
  15. I get all my seals and impellor changed every couple years. Its cheap insurance. No need for a whole lower unit though, unless of course your getting a good deal on a complete unit. I need to do mine this year too. If you can do it yourself, its cheap. S.
  16. I don't know when the last time you used steel shot was, but it kills them just fine for me and my buds. Get them a little closer and shoot thier face off S.
  17. There used to be a law against fishing AND hunting at the same time. I'm not sure it still exists, but is another example of a stupid law written by some Liberal dumb ass! S.
  18. I hear ya Cliff. You have to keep in mind, when you mention a spot or technique that's working on here, there are thousands of people watching. I don't hesitate to tell someone to thier face whats working and where, but I'm hesitant to post anything anymore. I've seen what can happen with my own eyes. Sometimes the nice guy gets the short end of the straw. S.
  19. Anyone fished this lake lately? There is a chance I may be up there this weekend. A map of the lake would be great, but if anyone has a general area to fish, I"m all ears. Where can i access? Any spots I should stay away from?? I"d really love a map of the lake if anyone has one, then I'd figure it out on my own Thanks, S.
  20. I don't even think of fishing if hunting season is open. S.
  21. Get 'er done Matt!! Is that 5 weeks or 6 weeks now? S.
  22. Well put. I use a bottom of the line graph, solely because it uses less battery power than a bigger unit. It has all the options I need, and that's about it. I can run it for 3 days of fishing, no problem, even in winter. I've used a bigger colour graph with GPS, and it just burns thru the batts. Even in -30C, once the sun gets on my lowrance, its just the same as a summer day. It still marks fish fine when its minus 10 million, but doesn't have as much detail on my jig. Works for me! S.
  23. You got him on the full moon didn't you Nice work! I also like to put a spruce branch on top of the snare. Just enough to make the rabbit drop his head to go under........and right into the snare. It also blocks any glare from moonlight. Keep atter! Many rabbits will run the same trail. S.
  24. This is correct. Sometimes even weeds will do it. I don't run into that problem very often though. I've seen flashers do the same thing on a steep drop. They both have benifits, and they all get the job done, but the time we're talking here isn't even measureable. S.
  25. I've been charging the same 12V 7aH gell cell for 5 seasons now with my deep cycle battery charger on the 2A setting. No probs, battery still works mint. S.
