  1. These guys would abuse it regardless. The crew I watched a couple days ago were told about the new limit of 30 fish. Thier reply: "mind yo business" I was about ready to ram thier boat and sink it. They know the rules, they just don't care, and they know nothing will come of being reported. I've reported this type of thing twice already, and saw no results. If the MNR was smart, they'd be lined up at boat launches and rental places checking each boat as they leave the water. MNR= Ministry of NO RESULTS S.
  2. Yeah, generously proportioned/sonar is the same thing. If you want to steer your TM from the tiller, I'd suggest a powerdrive. I love mine for just that reason. I don't do a lot of fishing from the bow of my boat, so steering from the tiller is what I do. S.
  3. I dunno, at the end of the day, I bet my 2 stroke doesn't burn much more than a 4 stroke. I don't know how much more, or less it does in fact burn, but the cost of gas is the last thing on my mind when it comes to my outboard. Keep in mind, If I was looking for an outboard over 50HP, I would be looking at 4 strokes for sure. Under 50HP, I'm still a fan of 2 strokes. S.
  4. Don't even get me started on this one Cliff. I've seen it twice this season as well. EVERY fish caught went right in the bucket. I am certain they were over limit, so I called, and no results. At least your story came up with results..........I hope they get nailed bigtime!!! S.
  5. Simcoe perch would freakin love those at the right time of year!! Bass.........what are those? S.
  6. I'm also loving the new regs Jer. Just think of all the killer crappie fishing we've been missing out on all these years!!! I was out last night as well. Same results, lots of fish. I let them all go this time, but there were some big slabs pulled over the gunnels of my boat, along with a pile of huge gills. I love it!! S.
  7. I use my deep cycle battery charger to charge mine. works like a charm. set it on 2a and let it do its thing. S.
  8. cool stuff Clive. Try a red devil.........seriously. S.
  9. My 40 Mariner is the 2 cylinder model, 2 stroke, long shaft, tiller steer. It weighs 140lbs. I've honestly never seen another one like it. If you can find me a 4 stroke that is comparable in weight, I'd love to hear about it. S
  10. Thanks for the report. I can't believe a word you've typed, but that's your own fault. S.
  11. Ha...stay away from the bog. Its just retarded how many people are fishing it. Its loaded with dinks anyways.....not worth it. S.
  12. I've got a 40HP, 2 stroke. Its wight is comparable to some of those 15hp engines listed. I can take it off/on by myself and carry it around. Its a bit heavy, but doable. I'd go with a 2 stroke, for a 9.9hp, without a second thought. I'm thinking about upgrading my engine, but finding a 40hp 2 stroke is going to be nearly impossible. The same motor in a 4 stroke is A LOT heavier. If you think weight is not an issue, think again, because it certainly is for me. I would gain an extra 100lbs or so, and lose top end........some upgrade huh? I think I'll just put parts on my old girl, and keep her. She hasn't cost me much to run in the 13 years I've had it, so any repairs would be worth it. S.
  13. I'd fish simcoe if I was you. There were 13 boats in my crappie spot yesterday. The fish are scared to death in there. Its time to find some new ones. Try dalrymple and let us know how you make out. I'm looking forward to the report, with pics S
  14. I'm assuming its in neutral?
  15. I'm all set where I am. I have so much water within a half hour of home, most days, deciding where I want to fish, is the hardest decision of the day. The ONE thing I REALLY miss is the ocean. I still call NFLD home. S.
  16. Anytime your on the water, or ice, can be dangerouse. Rice lake is no more dangerous than any other body of water. I don't get that point at all. Actually, I don't get a lot of this whole thread. I've lost track of RLTA's point, and I'm not going back to read it all again. Lets just all pretend the limit on rice lake for sunfish is 500, we'll tell that to all the americans, and see how many more show up. I really find it hard to believe the RLTA think its the fish limits that are keeping american anglers out of thier resorts. Are you really THAT daft? Also, I can't, for the life of me, figure out why you don't find a new target group for your resorts??? Rice lake is a great fishery. I fish it all year round, many, many days a season. I'm sure there are many, many more anglers who would LOVE the opportunities that I have, fishing rice lake. Put your thinking caps on, and target them! Get them in your resorts, put them on fish, have a great season...........your wasting your time with this one. Get over it and move onto new things. S.
  17. I troll them weightless, and they don't float. You wanna be fairly shallow, and around some wood/rocks/cover. The lindy rigged harnesses will just get snagged. Troll slow, no weight, long line. I tie my own on 8lb mono, with #12 trout hooks. Simple: silver hammered colorado blade, red beads..........never fails. Next up would be a silver panther martin with a tiny little piece of worm on the center hook of the treble. S.
  18. Those petitions don't mean squat! I still say good luck to the RLTA, but don't get your hopes up. S.
  19. Exactly!! AND.......never take info from the net, as honest info. You'll never know if you don't go. Some of my best days fishing have been when nobody else is catching fish!! S.
  20. The limit on moose is 1. The limit on sunfish is 300. Its also the highest limit in North America. I find it funny that the RLTA would even attempt to get the limits raised. Good luck with that, everyone else involved is just laughing at you all. S.
  21. What kind of motor are you trying to fill?? A 5hp 4 stroke, but what brand?? My mariner takes a yamaha fitting on the lower unit. S.
  22. Ok, you beat me to the footpedal question. If the footpedal you have works, are you interested in selling it? I'd take it if your not too far. Seems like I can't get enough of the things, but I really like sitting at the tiller, while trolling with the bowmount S.
  23. Well, who ever "he" is, should get off the crack..... LOL. As long as the platform on the front of your boat is big enough to mount the edge, it will work just fine. No worries. Even if its not big enough, you can make it bigger pretty easily. I'd still check that footpedal on the power drive though. Even if your going to go with the edge, if you get a new foodpedal for the powerdrive, you could sell it to offset the cost of a cablesteer unit. S.
  24. I almost always slow troll worm harnesses for early season specks. I would never leave home without them. All the above info is bang on too!1 s.
  25. Are you sure its not just the foot pedal on your power drive that's on the fritz? I go thru one pretty much every season. I just got another new one yesterday at LeBarons. I'd check that out before I bought a new one. I don't see any reason why the edge wouldn't work though. S.
