I would rather see a two minute rule the fish can only be out of the water for two minutes max. If it gets close to two minutes and you don’t have your hook out you need to cut the hook and release the fish4 points

Ok but this is what I am saying. you can't have it both ways. Either the rule needs changing to allow for pics like this to be legally taken or The rule should not be changed, and this pic should not have been taken in the first place. You can't say "rule needs to remain but this is ok as an exception" because then everyone makes an exception etc. that's all I'm saying. change this dumb rule so you can take a pic of your proud grandchild with his first muskie legally. full stop.3 points

Was not a very productive morning but sure as heck, was nice to be out floating about. Back up dinner. 😆 🤣3 points

I feel like a kid again on Christmas Eve.....I can't even remember the last time I headed out for a spring Trout excursion due to heavy business travel.....It's been 7 weeks since I have retired and I'm feeling great! Leaving in the morning to drive 3hrs north in Quebec and we will be targeting native Quebec Reds +Speckled Trout on the lake that our cabin is on and then some remote lakes for stocked Rainbows and Browns.....Very stoked just to get back in a boat and this will be the first out of 4 fishing trips that I booked in Quebec this year.....Hopefully the fish will cooperate and I'll be able to make another post....I know the Black Flies will be cooperating3 points

1. Congrats to your grandson, absolutely would snap a pic of my nephews etc. as well. For myself though, certainly not, just ask me about my "PB" laketrout...I just know that it was massive. 2. The rules dont need changing, and it has nothing to do with this particular scenario, and absolutely everything to do with how the average person does their fish photo op...aka land the fish, bring it in the boat, try unhook, grab pliers, struggle to get hooks out, look at fish, weigh it, measure it, search for camera, take photo, realize its blurry, take another photo and then release. For a fish on a bed, or a big musky...thats a wrap. and second of all, tournament guys would 100000% take advantage of this and start hosting catch measure release tournaments out of season. Full stop. Dont change the rules, im not even happy about it happening in zone 20. Its unnecessary and those bass dont need additional tournament pressure beyond what they already experience. If you really need to document your catches, get a go pro, problem solved. Ask Nick Cousivs about his 8lb smallie he caught in zone 20.2 points

These people were literally making a living raping the resource…they should never be in business again2 points

Makes me wonder how many illegal moose they have actually taken down since they were in business2 points

The Severn doesn't have a huge population of pike, if you're back there all you'll be catching are bass. I find the back bays off the main Severn river are better for crappie than the one way back in the slop. This time of year crappie are all dictated by water temp. Find the right temp, find the fish.1 point

Slippery slope. Possession limit vs out of season fish. This debate could go on forever lol. I think a little bit of common sense needs to be applied to the regs.1 point

But I have some idea why they are breaking the law lodge owner were get about 10 moose tags every season now most get one tag and that does not make enough money to remain open for the moose hunt so they have a choice, shut down, break the law and stay open or sell the one tag they get to Americans for between 10 and 20 thousand bucks it not right and they should not break the law but I do understand why they are doing it1 point

Given the extent of their actions in falsifying documents...beyond the Fish & Game Act violations, they should've also been criminally charged with Fraud under the Criminal Code. That would have provided for a far more reaching punishment, than basically what is the equivalent of a speeding ticket or similar under the Highway Traffic Act. Although they received fines and suspensions, they get off with no criminal record.1 point

Congrats on your retirement and all the best on your fishing trips. You'd be hard pressed to find a better place to catch big Speckled Trout, and lots of them. In regards to the pic, as long as one is fishing who needs or wants a day off. Stay safe.1 point

We moved to a new subdivision at Leslie & Lawrence in '54 and used to hike down to the area of those stables. I did a lot of bike riding in that area in later years and that's probably the nicest park setting in all of Toronto. Another stable we rode from in the 50's was at Todmorden Mills in the Don Valley. It was really nice and the Parkway wasn't even thought of then and we'd ride the horses along the Don River and you'd think you were a million miles from a city down there. No noise, no cars and just a really nice place.1 point

Read the room fellas, you missed the temperature, and you're overcooking the roast. Further, ever tried charging a child under 12 for a grip and grin? Nothing bad will ever come of this, even if posted on facebook.1 point

I've got zero issues with the kid getting a photo with this fish. It's the people who would take advantage of the proposed rule change I'd have an issue with.1 point

Hi all, Got out with a buddy to do a bit more exploring before walleye opens here on Wabigoon Lake, got into some bass, a few pike and a couple of crappie. Surface temps have risen a fair bit in a week, hovering around 48 - 50F on the main lake and in a few shallow channels we saw up to 57F. Bass were in the shallow bays in the warm muddy waters and a few shallow rock flats, very aggressive, pike are probably just about done spawning in the shallow weedy bays and the crappie we found were down in and suspended over 27'FOW.1 point

The second Saturday in May is always a great weekend in Southern Ontario. Pike and Walleye also open in most zones...but the powers that be really need to move Mother's Day to another weekend...lol1 point

Agree. The problem is how do you define "quick photo". It becomes a grey area...5 seconds out of the water can become 5 minutes. Allowing people to take photos of fish that legally should be immediately released becomes a slippery slope..."the sun's behind me, let me get a better grip, make sure my buddy is in the photo too, make sure the lure is showing"...and the next thing you know it's a dead fish. The reg's as they stand now are simple and straightforward...if the fish is not eligible for retention, then no photos at all. Period. I understand that there are changes coming to the reg's to allow photos during the C&R seasons. Like the new Bass season on FMZ20...you can legally target Bass, but you just can't keep them. Though that won't apply to OOS fish. As for the photo in this thread...yes, if it was my grandson I would take a photo so he can always remember the moment...but I wouldn't post it on a public forum. As the last sentence below notes..."self-incriminatinion, especially if the image appears on social media ".1 point

Absolutely does not need to be changed.. Then you'd have guys targeting OOS fish just to get pics with them. There's a season for a reason.1 point
