  2. Lots of comfortable traditional jackets now. Fishing ones are good but I too preferred a paddling style vest. Best to get to a store that has a bunch and try them on. I've used an auto inflate for 7-8 years now. I've replace the cartridge twice and each time I've jumped in the water to see how the old one would do. Zero issues going off.

  3. Newest Post is Up With summer upon us many are heading out on their fishing excursions it got me thinking about some critical items I have added to my trip gear Some are not things one would typically think of or at least I didn't my first few trips so I thought I would share Here it is - top 5 things for a fly in trip (that aren't top of mind) https://www.northernjacks.com/post/top-5-must-have-s-for-your-fly-in-trip Cheers Andrew

  4. not sure how well it would push your inflatable but Honda 2.5 has are great. run wide open, sounds like a horde of angry bees coming after you. used one on a sq stern Langford cedar canvas. great for skinny water. air cooled iirc

  5. That name gives me the shivers. LOL Worst memory was the excitement of going fishing with a buddy, his motor,Chrysler outboard, was the horror of the trip. Ended up fishing from shore for a week . Getting parts for that thing may be real hard bud.

  6. Yep, right up until you are stopped. As Cliff found in a ditch where the hull bow and stern were on land, and all the wheels in the air. Same when you are in a bog and high-centred, or in snow without tracks. When you are stuck in an Argo, you are REALLY stuck!!!!! But Cliff and his son going out in pairs is going to get around pretty much every "stop" that Mother Nature is going to throw at them. Doug

  8. I bought an inflatable so I’ll wear it all the time. Otherwise it comes of and hangs on the seat. Not a great place for it if I’m not a strong swimmer.

  9. I also had my doubts with the auto inflatable jackets. Worn one for two years and never really knew if it worked? The last time my brother and I went fishing together, he was pretty weak from the cancer. I made him wear the inflatable; just incase. Sure enough he went off the dock when getting off the pontoon boat. I saw the splash and he was gone. About a second (or less) later there he was; bobbed up to the surface like a cork; head and neck fully supported by the jacket. Keep them up to date with the CO2 cylinder and arming trigger and they work. Dan.

  12. Akrisoner.....good advice. I plan to wear all the time. My balance is far from what it used to be and I often fish alone. Thanks

  13. kayak ones are typically very nice. However I will point out, if you are going to use the flotation device to drive and then take it off to fish, i can assure you you are statistically better off wearing a CO2 auto inflate 100% of the time then while just under power. The flawed logic of people to not wear the auto full time because it might not inflate while also taking their PFD off to fish is about as ridiculous as it can get.

  15. I love these comments.. personally I'm not a Bass guy and I think some of the Bass guys are crazy spending 6 figures to catch a fish that a little kid on a dock could get but to each their own.. have fun and stay safe..

  17. Terry has always been a star. Remembering at Wayne's cottage sitting talking and one up'ing each other. Me: "Ahhhh in my teens for something to do we'd get a case of beer and hit the backroads." Wayne: "Just a case?!?! I'd keep a keg in the trunk." Terry: "Well my car had a keg too, and I built a tap right into the dash."

  18. Well then the same could be said for rollers. Adequately sized tie downs prevent any unscheduled launchings. I go to the boat launch for entertainment on saturdays and sundays. If I had a longer range lens, I could probably make some hilarious videos. Best I ever saw was a Mario backing up, jack knifed and drove his stainless prop right through the next guys truck door.
