  1. I've been lucky enough to spending a few days on the St. Lawrence River recently and the Hi-Def Relief Shading on the Navionics charts definitely gave us a new perspective on the structure that we were targeting. We fished anywhere from 15-50 FOW and caught some beautiful Smallies, there were also lots of smaller specimens. By no means was the fishing easy but always fun to try something new and catch a few hawgs! The majority of the fish came on a dropshot rig, a Ned rig or a Carolina rig! A Z-Man TrickShotZ for dropshotting, Finesse TRD for Ned rigging and a Diesel Minnow for Carolina rigging were the ticket, still blown away by how long these baits last on the hook!

  3. Was out with Bray again yesterday, we caught some Panfish and I was messing around with worms also and hooked into a Monster Rock Bass, biggest I've ever caught. I need to work a little with him on his camera aiming. What's everyones biggest Rock bass? I know the Ontario record is 17 inches and around 3 pounds.

  5. Hey guys, awesome feedback, thanks for this. I did the plugs, lower unit oil, sea foam and fuel line, but I didn’t have time for the carb. Anyway, the engine fired up really easily and ripped across the lake. Then.... pow! I’m pretty sure the gears started Missing/slipping. Big jolt and then kept going, then big jolt again, etc. Bummer, cuz it’s a much bigger deal than I had hoped for. I’m gonna try again with this other little 5.5 seahorse. Will keep y’all posted.

  7. Ran the smoker for several hours again yesterday. One large Steelie from the Geen and 5 big ass Brookies form northern Kbec (all gifted ). Smoked with a mix of Cherry and Maple wood and twice brushed with Maple Syrup my friend Chef Shai made from trees she tapped at her family cottage. Almost 7 pounds worth vacuum packed this morning to share with friends.

  11. Kahshe Lake is on both the Navionics charts and the Garmin LakeVu g3. It can be a little nerve racking but if you pay careful attention to your up-dated charts, you should be fine. don't venture into any sketchy looking areas on the charts, Stay out of the blue! Pretty good fishing in this lake!

  14. Is the complaint that it is not running correctly at WOT or is it you are not getting the same RPMs you were? The drop in MPH could be drive train friction or prop damage. A strike could have damage the drive train creating friction or it could have spun the shear in the hub. I agree new coils are a good idea as the cases get old they can get small cracks in the windings and miss fire internally. We also should look at the timing and the timing advance linkage to make sure it is not binding up and that the screw that limits the advance from over advancing is timing. Both of these require a timing light as well as the specifications of the motor. The final thought is that the metering screws have debris on the end of them that needs to be flushed out. Remove the screw after counting them in and flush them out reset them the same amount they usually do not need to be adjusted to a new setting unless someone moved them. Art

  15. If the coils are old, worn etc, they could lower your RPMs, miss fire or simply not fire at all. I watched Bernie (30 year mechanic) diagnose a problem with FishnSleds 115 Merc. Hanging off the transom at 40k, you could hear the coils mis-firing. It would run, sometimes smooth and others, mis-fire. If yours are original, it can't hurt to replace them, they aren't that expensive and you will notice the difference quickly. HH Edit - not a Motorhead, but I can play Ace of Spades for yah on bass, if you wish! LOL

  17. recent trip to simcoe 2 weeks ago tells me the bass are getting educated. It was harder to catch them then anywhere else ive been recently, and that includes the kawarthas. Not surprising considering they get hammered witha lot of pressure. The bass in muskoka and georgian bay on the other hand...dumb as posts lol

  18. You're best bet will be Cooks Bay, Lake Simcoe. Close, lots of fish. Don't go running around in Georgian Bay if you've never been there before. Boat traffic is insane around Honey Harbour. All kinds of panfish down there, pike, bass whatever. If you want to keep her occupied and busy reeling in panfish all day, Cooks is the ticket.

  19. do muskoka or even Georgian Bay. Its quieter and the fishing would be better for you in a rental boat. I spent a weekend fishing lake of bays at the beginning of September 2 years ago for the first time. I went in blind, looked at a some charts, Made some decisions on where I thought the bass would be related to the time of year and went out. it was dead quiet, i think i saw 2 other boats fishing the entire weekend on the whole lake and it seemed like the fishing was excellent and totally under pressured. Simcoe is a lake for the hardcore "I want to catch the bag/fish of a lifetime" for bass. You and your niece would have a much better time enjoying a quite lake surrounded by beautiful scenery catching crazy numbers of smallmouth.

  20. Thanks, I’ve been wondering about that lake since we stayed in the area last year. I’ve heard about the unmarked rocks so it makes me a bit nervous. I’m going to check and see if it’s a lake covered by navionics

  22. Thanks for all the info and tips. The pain comes and goes but it's allot better now than it was the first six months. Like I posted originally the only limited movement is straight out to the side and can't lift anything. The stupid thing about all this is I had to wait nine months to see a Dr and he gives me crap for not having an MRI. I get the MRI, four months later, and he then tells me he's a knee guy and will refer me to a shoulder guy!! I will be getting a second opinion before I agree to anything that involves cutting me open. Thanks guys

  23. I tore mine at the same age . I had surgery after it kept popping out. I am glad I did it when I was young. Build up muscle still then. The only effect I have now at 55, is I get the odd numnus if I have it in a elevated certain potion for a long period of time. Other then that,It has been fine.

  24. Someone had their Tracker boat stolen from the Bluffers parking lot this morning. I am not sure of the specific model; but it was a pretty large boat. They parked at the public launch and left to help a friend pull a boat from the marina and their boat & trailer had been removed from their truck. I saw the boat around 7:00 am this morning. It was gone by 8:45 am. If anyone else saw the boat parked in the public launch between those times it may help narrow the time down a bit.
