What is up with the US political advertising. Seems to me we were all chastised not to long ago for talking politics on this site. And now we are accepting US political adds. Administrators please respond. Shame on you.

I assume the advertisers help pay the bills. Where do you make the call on whats "acceptable "...its a slippery slope. If their money's good, well we still have free speech. If I don't like it, I just ignore it. Personally, I don't believe in censorship.

Don't get me wrong here.  My screen shot was only to show Rizzo.  Me, I don't care.  Could be an ad for anything and I just pass on by.

Well here's another example that doesn't identify any one user. I don't visit this site much these days either (work keeps me busy) but Ive been surprised at the US political ads as well. It really isn't appropriate, regardless of anyone's political views. Perhaps ownership could reach out to Google or wherever places the ads and have a word?

While the site is named Ontario Fishing Community it has a very large presence from the United States. The ads are generated by what peoples past history searches and viewing are as they use the internet. We rely on people coming to the site without ad blockers to view the ads to pay for the expenses of running the site. If you do not like an ad just skip it, it is easy to do and will keep your blood pressure down. What we do do to make the site pleasant is not allow discussions in the forum about politics because unlike an ad they fester and become nasty in nature.

Thanks

You may still not discuss politics as part of our rules here. An ad disappears as soon as you refresh the page the discussions on politics drags on and does nothing to support the forum. You are here by choice and if this is the straw that breaks the camels back I imagine we will see less of you. While I do not feel shame I do feel pity that this is something that you find offensive.

Oh yeah, I hadn’t even noticed till you mentioned it, but there they are. Surprising that I’d get any ads political in nature as the majority of my time is spent searching porn. Go figure.

That was a joke. Should clarify.

It’s an ad that someone paid for you to see

the tv is full of them, ignore them, laugh at them or hate them. They help pay the bills so we can chat here

So vote to protect your right to fish would be OK, but since it is about firearms , it becomes political ?? anyone else see a double standard here ?  There is no party endorsement in the ads I see to make it politically biased

I don't see any of those ads at all. I do use a vpn and several script/ad blockers but they are disabled for this site.

Thank you for disabling your ad block. It is this small revenue that keeps enough money in the kitty to afford our site and security upgrades current.

Cheers

thanks. I had not seen those ads.

Also...I don't care. As long as the ads aren't offensive I am in favour of free speech

What's wrong with just using the scroll knob or the back button on the mouse: if you don't like what you're reading/seeing?
