ccmtcanada Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Street lights lit this up like a Christmas tree last night Woke up today to see branches from town trees broken and resting on my fence.... About 2cm of ice build up on everything. I'm glad I have nowhere to go today!
esoxansteel Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Cool shots Cliff especially the last one, amazing how much ice can form on one little branch
chris.brock Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 this tree is leaning over my neighbor's house, if the wind picks up, could be falling branches lots of clean up to do
Joeytier Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 The one weekend I travel south to visit family I get hit with this crap! At least I have a pile of fresh powder to look forward to when I get home
lew Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Doesn't really show up in the pictures but the freezing rain is just pouring down right now and is gonna make the foot of snow from the last week even heavier.
leaf4 Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Woke up to a fire truck honking for some random reason, I found out!
irishfield Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Another 7" of snow up here overnight... yesterday was 4" and then a crust of freezing rain on top that I plowed away. Was just going to plow as it didn't look like it was doing anything outside, and the radar shows nothing, but stepping out the door realized it's raining so I'll just throw another log in the fire and put my feet up!
Fisherman Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Is that FF hosing down the power line? Ya, another 3-4 inches of snow a thin crust of ice and that's it.
leaf4 Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 haha yeah he was I was kinda scratching my head at it too I got a vid of it haha lots of icy trees

ccmtcanada Posted December 22, 2013 Author Report Posted December 22, 2013 Great pics! Keep them coming! Was just outside and heard a loud crack! Went to the side of the house and saw this limb that came down.
Sinker Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Heres the view out my back door right now.
leaf4 Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 The neighbors tree is on fire! I was watching it spark and smoke then flames erupted for a short time couldn't snap a pic of them as I wasn't allowed around the corner by the FF's
Burtess Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 We didn't get it too bad in Dundas, but I had one branch of my cedar in the back break from the weight, then I went into action. Got the grill going to melt some of the ice off the other branches hanging low... worked well! Burt

spincast Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Looks like we off got off lightly compared to some of you .. still made for some nice photo ops
DundasSteelheader Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Here are a few of mine... Hard to show scale but there was roughly 3/4" - 1" of ice on all the trees. Huge damage to all the apple trees, a few completely split in half. All the tops of the trees lining the road are gone.
Handlebarz Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Dang it was well above freezing here in SW area no ice all rain lots of it. My sump pump is still going every 3/4-1 hour pumping out 4" at a time in the hole. That's alot of rain here. All our snow is gone and the Thames river is running high and breaking up. Hope everyone is safe out in the South and eastern parts of Ontario.
misty river Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 beware of brownouts[partial outage] and restoration of power due to voltage spikes,2 people in my area lost their computers today
darsky Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 As bad as you guys in Toronto got it (and I DO feel bad for the ones suffering) it does not even come CLOSE to what I went through back in '98. Multiply it by 5 (total days) and then you can really relate. Most affected had no power for 7-12 days. The military was called in to help clear the trees. I think it was something like 30-50 mm each day. Fond memories. Good luck with the clean up. We just got ice pellets today-no biggie.
nancur373 Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 This was this morning. Way more damage now. Will get more pics in the daylight.
