My wifes been baking cookies for the last few weeks and has done probably a couple hundred. Trouble is she gives them all away to friends and neighbors and I basically get the leftover crumbs

last week there was plate on the sink so I took one, "why are you eating those?" me: just to taste them . .

"Those are no good" me: why? They are broken. crappie: if I would have taken the good one it could have been worse!

Looks great, Bruce. I'm sure they won't last long.

Art, don't call them "sweetbreads" here. Sweetbreads are something entirely different. J loves them, I make them for her but I need a lot of sauce to get them down. :)

Way to go Ugly! My family is Slovak. Gramma used to bake poppy seed cakes & walnut bread. I purchased some in Windsor last week at the local market. Almost as good as gramma's. Pulla looks awesome!!

Love poppyseed cakes. There are a couple of German bakers at St Jakobs that make some great poppyseed pastries and bread

The swedes do a similar style thing…forgotten the name of it, used to eat loads when i lived there as a kid. looks great even without the marzipan…now all you need is my address to send a parcel :whistling::whistling:

My Gram would also do the Swede braid for Grampa, Jonni and some of the other swedes. Their spice of choice is cardamom or nutmeg in the dough.

The other bread would be vetebrod, something I have not seen made in near 40 years

With any of these braids, nothing beats fresh from the oven with a big dollop of fresh churned spread on top.
