jwl Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 I like 30 inch and under muskies from the cold water like in March, caught on roe from belly slit browns
Zubris21 Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 In no particular order, Walleye, perch, pike. I've only had a sampling of a small whitefish and it was very good. In the new year I'll be trying some freshly caught (through the ice) brookies and rainbows and am expecting big things!

Fish Farmer Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) PERCH, Whitefish, fresh water then Haddock salt water. Anyone watch Dirtiest Jobs, they did a show on raised Tilapia in tanks hook in a sewer system, that was their main diet. Clampit hit it on the head. Edited December 19, 2008 by Fish Farmer
Beats Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Perch is my favorite by far. Pike, pickerel, whitefish are also great. Trout and salmon as well but not nearly as much as the ones mentioned.
bukee Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 1. Perch, walters, whities, crappy..for a fish fry....actually any fresh white meat fish battered and fried. 2. Smoked anything from the salmanoid family......although I never keep these, so it's from buddies. 3. Sushi grade fish of just about anything, if you can find it.....tuna and salmon being the favourites. PS..I haven't met a fresh shellfish with butter that isn't the bomb.
irishfield Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) BBQ'd Lake Trout You had to mention that didn't ya !! Here.. I'll add to the suffering.. Edited December 19, 2008 by irishfield
steve barrett Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 My favourite fish are specks and walleye done on the barby in foil with real butter salt and pepper and a twist of lemon. Can't beat that. Steve
DRIFTER_016 Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 You had to mention that didn't ya !! Here.. I'll add to the suffering.. Tastes good Beer Battered too!!!! But what ever way you cook it it always tastes better like this!!

Hawk
forrest Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) Well, it has to be fresh, small for the species and caught by myself or a friend. Bass, perch pike, walleye, crappie. If I can eat them without too much fear of bones I do not discriminate. I love em all. fried with butter or bread crumbs sunfish are certainly on my list for 2009. forrest Edited December 19, 2008 by forrest

camillj Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Freshwater ... Specks .... by far number 1 ! Pickeral Splake (in some cases confused with number 1) Bows Coho Pink Salmon Atlantic Salmon Chinook Pike Perch Bass Brown Trout Saltwater (with fins) Mahi mahi (we call them Lumpuki in Malta) Swordfish Grouper Red snapper Sea Bass Anything in the Tuna/Mackerel family Saltwater (without fins) Alaskan King Crab Lobster (East Coast) Rock Lobster (Carribean) Tiger Shrimp Mussels Octopus/Squid/Cuttlefish Moray OK .. I am an admitted lover of almost ALL seafood (except sea urchin eggs and sea cucumbers)
Ramble Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Warm/Cool Water Species Crappie Perch Walleye Smallmouth Pike Cold Water Species Brookies Splake lakers Rainbows Atlantic's I love pretty much all fish and i have a really hard time mixing those 2 lists into just one. Comparing Crappie and Brookies for example are 2 very different fish in my books, they dont compare, so how can you choose one over the other? Easy....2 lists lol then they can BOTH be #1 -R-
douG Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 I cook all the fish at this place, and I usually coat with flour and breadcrumbs and fry in butter/olive oil. Sometimes I will make a sauce with lemon and dill and cover with it after the turn, about 5 minutes before serving. Or, a dollop of mango curry sauce - great on salmon. Mackerel fillets, fried crispy and served with a green tomato chow is fabulous, right near the top of my list.
bigugli Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Any fish is great when served up in Gram's famous "Fishhead Soup". Of course Gram would always lecture me and remind me to bring home a pike for the soup. As for table fare, panfish and pike.
Twocoda Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) halibut cod brown trout sand bass rainbow trout salmon walleye perch im thinking its about time to have a fish fry.... oh there was a red fish i caught in california ...looked like a red small mouth bass with poison dorsal fin ( tastd like atlantic lobster tails ) cant remeber the name though but it was gooooooooood !!!!!
