  1. Well after having a decent opener on BOQ, I decided to check the board to see how others did. Well I was lucky enough to squeeze into a group with walleyedreamer, young one and jose, to spend last Sunday with fishhunter(Lloyd) on his certified charter boat chasing eyes. The day started with Jose picking me up at 3am. We shared many fishing tales on the ride to Picton. We met up with the others and boarded Lloyd`s boat by 6am and were fishing shortly after. Well with the temps below zero and some sleet, snow and lots of wind our adventure began. Good thing Lloyd`s boat is big, comfy and enclosed to keep us warm. Soon after setting out the lines and taking in the obvious knowledge Lloyd has for BOQ we started getting into some active fish. First up, walleyedreamer, or as Jose renamed him, granny dreamer. I think young one will be scarred for a while. Here`s Jose with his first. Even when he is lying down watching movies he can still scramble pretty quickly when his turn was up. Young one here fighting a fish and trying to fight off walleyedreamer`s discription of sexy grannies. I was lucky enough to bring in the big eye of the day at 7.1 lbs. She was still showing some signs of spawning. All in all it was a great day with the guest OFNers reeling in 2 nice fish a piece. Here is fishhunter cleaning our fish before sending us off. Lloyd was a great host. Sorry for picking your brain all day, but the knowledge LLoyd possesses is truly amazing. I`m so fired up that I`m heading back to BOQ this weekend to try some of fishunter`s amazing tips and advice. Fishhunter, Jose, Walleyedreamer and Young one, thanks for a great day and I would be more than happy to get out again with any of you. This is a great site.
  2. Thanks LLoyd for a great day on the water and a remarkable day of learning from the a pro. Nice meeting some fellow OFNers and sharing many laughs. I have some pics on my camera and as soon as I have sometime I will post a full report of the festivities, hopefully by the end of the week. Carm
  3. I am pysched to fish and learn from a pro like Lloyd and just have a fun day on the water. Was at BOQ for our annual opener trip, we did well, had my first 10 plus walleye day on BOQ opener, just no size but still lots of fun. We couldnt find fish in the narrows or Hay Bay where we had success in past years, but we found lots of 2 to 4lbers in Long Reach, which we never had much success at before. Jose I live in Toronto, if you want to drive up together, let me know. Carm
  4. Great boat congrats. I have a 16 foot john boat with a 25hp merc 2 stroke on it. Next thing for me is to upgrade to a 4 stroke. You'll enjoy the flatbottom boat for bass, pike, perch, etc. It's great in the shallows, bays and med to small lakes of Ontario. Just be careful on larger lakes that get any kind of waves, these boats are terrible in those situations. It's also a great boat to duck hunt out of. Enjoy and congrats again.
  5. Nice fish. If tiger's don't reproduce why not keep it then an get your world record?
  6. Congrats on a great mount. You'll enjoy that your whole life.

    JUMBO

Great looking perch and very tasty. I kept a few pigs like that last year in early spring and found them full of eggs too and the fillets you get out of them end up being disappointing for the size of the fish. Anyway you look at it thats a great perch, congrats.
  8. Thanks for the replies guys. Ya we have that spot kind of figured out, but it's taken a few years and countless variations of setup to get it right, but then again our next outting there will probably be a skunk and we'll have to re-think it all again. JDMLS I was a bit hesitant to post on the Port too, for fear of tinny's being dragged and pushed all over the place, but then I remember that i've seen 40 plus boats in there at different times anyway. It's a frustrating place to fish with many snags, drifting probs, etc. If you hit the right day you have a day like we did, you hit the wrong wind, water clarity and that place makes you want to throw your rods away. Anyway thanks for looking.
  9. Just got a couple of pics from my buddy so I thought I would post a report of our fishing at port D on Sunday. My two buds and I had had enough of the freezing weather the last few weeks and were set on going to the port whatever the weather did. Lucky for us it was sunny and above 0 C for the first time in weeks. We leave from Toronto not knowing what the ramp would look like, but with some muscle and determination we get the flatbottom into the water. Sorry for the quality of the photos but they are off the cell phone. Anyway the 3 of us start drifting, my one buddy was slaughtering them, he had 4 before we could get one to the boat. We fished from 8am to 1pm and had fish on just about every drift. We also got alot of misses, but hey that's fishing. Several times the fish were nice enough to leave us the lips of the minnows as they took the rest. Final count, Alex caught 14, Frankie 6, and I had 7 and we easily lost close to that. All browns, all released. I had a really nice steelie on and boatside but because buddy also had a fish on, I tried to net it myself and lost it at the boat, oh well, I'll get him back. Here is one of my nicer browns. Anyway we had a great day out and put the duckhunting boat to good use. It was a bit tougher dragging the boat up the launch but we managed, these tasks always seem alot easier after you have a great day fishing. There was one other boat out there, two nice guys that followed our lead and dragged there tinny down the ramp too. They seemed to be doing well also. Visibility was probably 4 feet. and all the fish were caught on minnows bouncing the bottom.
  10. Bassmaster4 I am pretty sure Peter's Tackle shop in St. Catharines carries that stuff.
  11. Got the rapala last year and it's great on everything from perch to pike. Get one, you'll love it.
  12. Last night when I checked WFN, I saw a bunch of guys fishing in kayaks, looked like fun. Then one guy took a lure to the chin, watched for five minutes as they tried to cut the hooks to get it out of his chin. Looked painful, but he was quite the sport about it.
  13. My best on that game is 24,550. The trick with that game is trying to shoot more than one deer with each shot, that gives you bonus points.
  14. Thoughts and Prayers sent for little Izzy. She sounds like a true fighter.
  15. Anyone with an iPhone, or touch screen iPod, down load "Flick Fishing". It's addictive.
  16. Drove by there on Tuesday and couldn't see any huts on the ice yet.
  17. 1. Perch, walters, whities, crappy..for a fish fry....actually any fresh white meat fish battered and fried. 2. Smoked anything from the salmanoid family......although I never keep these, so it's from buddies. 3. Sushi grade fish of just about anything, if you can find it.....tuna and salmon being the favourites. PS..I haven't met a fresh shellfish with butter that isn't the bomb.
  18. I have had great eating does and bucks and then some "off" meat of both sexes. Unless, it's a really old buck that has been banging and full of testoserone, I don't think sex of the animal is a huge issue. I believe care in cleaning and processing the meat is a much bigger factor in the final product. Another factor is in the way the deer succumbed. If the animal was running and then took a long while to die and find, they say that all the adrenaline that is in the body affects the meat. Aging the meat also has a positive affect on taste. Just my opinions from experience.
  19. Congrats on a great hunt and deer.
  20. Wow that's hardcore for sure. Glad to hear you two are back safely. By the way you guys were probably the only 2 loons on the lake, loons usually start migrating at the end of October. If I had to guess you were looking at some sort of divers, ie buffle head, blue bills, mergansers, etc.
  21. I thought I read somewhere that Talapia has become one of the most consumed/popular fish in the world. It just looks like they get some white carp, slap a fancy name on it "talapia..ow la la", and people feel much better about eating carp. Lunch, ok I think I'm going to go have some ground pigs a s s stuffed in some intestines, some unfertalyzed bird embryoes, and a side of cow thymus glands. Yum yum, italian sausage, eggs and sweetbread for me...it's all marketing. If it tastes good and isn't going to kill me, then I'll eat it, no mattter what it's called.
  22. Bill, Fantastic pictures and a great few days of hunting. Thanks for sharing.
  23. From what I've been told, Simcoe is pretty much frozen over for the first few hundred feet from shore. So, I doubt it matters what time he is going out anyway, unless he's got an argo/wilcraft. Stay home/stay safe.
  24. Already been done, it's called "Cops"........bad boy, bad boy, wha you gonna do.....haha.
