Beans... that very sound advice, which I suggest everyone take to heart, unless of course your hoping to enjoy "hot tongue and cold shoulder" for dinner on Sunday night! HH

Here's a link to the London Free Press and the accompanying story... man, what the world coming to anyway!? http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/Local/200...503591-sun.html HH

Had a similar problem with an x cat, kept peeing right inside the front door of our house! Anyone who came into our home, could smell it! It began seeping into the hard wood floor... we did everything short of chocking the stupid thig to get it to stop... no chance! We asked the vet what we could use to get rid of the smell as all of the house hold cleaners we tried did nothing but make it worse! He recommended some stuff, I can't come close to recalling the name of the product, but it was not a simple wipe it up with this stuff and it'll be gone sort of thing. It required multiple applications and we were to follow the directions precisely... it kinda worked, well, it work best out of all the things we tried! The vet told us that the bacteria in the urine was what caused the smell and that it was virtually impossible to completely eliminate it... you could see crystals forming where the cat went! The cat is now wondering what happened to it's other 8 lives , the house has been sold and I'm done with those felines! Good luck... you might want to consider a burlap bag and a quick tour of your local piers! HH

Maurice did not play one minute of ice time for the Leafs! For the proper heads to roll, they must look way above ice level, to the undisciplined over baring, unknowledgeable front office! Until that happens, the names will change, but the results will not. 22% return on investment is not a result any smart business leader would mess with... I fear that we are simply looking at the beginning of yet another failed regime... I wish Maurice the best for his future... just watch how well his team does, when he lands somewhere else! HH

Funny you mention that Wayne... he was actually looking for a government office! LoL! HH

So, I was standing in front of my office building, downtown Toronto, when a guys walks up to me asking for directions. For those of you who work down here, you know that this sort of thing happens an awful lot! I always do my best to help the poor soul out, if I can, but this one takes the cake! Dude say to me, not a word of a lie... "excuse me, but can you tell me how to get here" as he's pointing to a document he's carrying, with an address printed at the top.... THUNDER BAY! I almost swallowed my smoke! I said, yah, I can get ya to Thunder Bay... do you have two days to drive there!? Obviously he was in the wrong place, ya think!, but I just had to share this... yet another first for me in the big smoke! HH

In desperate need of a lawyer on this board
Headhunter replied to urbanangler1990's topic in General Discussion
I'm still in the middle of wrapping up my Dad's estate, so maybe I can help a bit. If you mom is listed specifically in the will, then she has the rights you need... if not, than his brother can have the power in that situation. However, as common law, your Mom has a strong legal standing for assets within the estate... as a matter of fact, should there be enough assets... your Mom has a valid claim for up to the first $250K of the estate and up to 50% of any money available beyond the initial $250K. Who has been listed as the executor of the will? If it's his brother, than you Mom should go see a lawyer and have him bill the estate for his time... it's legal. As others have mentioned, if you can reason with the brother, than in the short, medium and long run, that's the best solution. Don't forget to pursue any insurance, investments, bank accounts, pension etc... to get a true evaluation of the estate. HH -

"So, I said this, and I quote... "So you won't come get the cat, but if I trap the cat, and bring it to you, and its hurt or tramatized, you'll charge me?" They said yes. So I replied "So what you're telling me to do is trap the cat myself, put it in a bag with some rocks and throw it in the river at night?" They got a little annoyed." Perhaps they were annoyed because they had plans to fish that body of water and had little or no intention of casting for or to, a burlap bag... unless the bag contained marshmellows of course. HH

Philly has taken quite a few hits in the last couple of games and I'm wondering if they will be able to keep up the pace that they have established against the Habs. As last nights game wore on, it seemed to me anyway, that the Philly players were starting to look tired and the physical beating they have been laying on the Habs looks to be taking a toll on the team. Montreal on the other hand appeared to be scared, beaten and demoralized! As far as out shooting the Flyers is concerned, the Habs have Jason Blake syndrom... shoot from far out and hope! HH

There was one located ion London at the corner of Highbury and Oxford street. We lived at the other end of town, but I remember the excitement my buddies and I would feel, riding our bikes across town, just to walk through that store and maybe spend some of my paper route money. I still have some Diawa reels I bought there as well as some rods. It was a sad day when they closed. HH

Using marshmallows to catch steelhead....

"Oh.. and I speared a beaver last night as well... am I in trouble for that too?" Only if you had to ply "her" with a marshmellow Wayne! HH -
One thing I don't think has been discussed is relationship building with your bank. One bank has the vast majority of my business, multiple products, and I found that leveraging that "customer loyalty" against my rate and other sundry items relating to the mortgage, put me in a fantastic negotiating position. If you have a history of moving your stuff from one institution to another, just to save 0.1% off the rate, you've effectively eliminated one of your leverage points. Don't know if that will help you Emil, but it might be food for thought for others considering buying a house or investment property. HH

Cliff, that was perfect! I suppose, based on how some of the threads have been going lately, that this one is going to head down hill pretty fast... a ton of dog lovers on this site and I'm already cringing at the pending insanity! Back to topic... I'd try what Cliff said! LOL HH PS... maybe feed it a marshmellow!

Interesting how much money these companies are making... I suppose that the next question would be how much money did they have to spend to make that much profit and as such, what their actual return on investment looks like... it's easy to look at those profit numbers and be aghast, but one also has to take into consideration how much it cost the company to make that much money and how much/percentage did they actually receive based on investment. Royal Dutch, BP and Exxon are some of the biggest companies in the world... I wonder how many people they employ and how much money it cost them to make that doe, ray, me! In this capitalist world, companies have to report to their investors and profit is the name of the game. HH PS... money grabbing ice holes!LOL PSS... any idea how much money Exxon has paid out for the "Valdese" (sp) oil spill?

Hats off the John again for providing such good advice! Emil, as we have talked about over the last little while, those who ask tend to get... those who wait, tend to pay! I don't think you will be able to get a simple black or white answer to your question Emil. I think your going to have to haggle to get what ever it is you desire... but make sure you have written quotes from many lenders before you leverage them against each other... the hungry lenders will do what they can to secure your business. Currently residing in Toronto, but I grew up in London and cut my teeth fishing the mighty Thames. We lived one block from Greenway Park and a ten minute bike ride to Springbank Dam. I fished, virtually anywhere on the Thames from Nilestown, downstream to Delaware. Mostly walkin/wading the river in search of smallies, but also enjoyed fishin the dam in the fall for ... believe it or not, steelhead, lakers, chinnies and coho! Of course, the mighty river hogg (carp) was a favorite foe during the hot summer months and the river never failed to provide all the fertilizer my mom's roses could eat! Also caught many bowfins, white perch, crappies, perch, gar, the occasional pike and of course, before the run was decimated pickereyes! It really is a great place to learn and practice your skills, with the variety of species available. HH
