  1. I have two Okuma Convectors and one Diawa Sealine, The Sealine is pushing 15 years old and I have NEVER had any issue with it at all. Now, when I was looking at buying two more line counter reels, it was suggested that I look at the Convector's as they are a bit cheaper, $30.00 roughly then the Sealines. I bought two. Well, the anti-reverse switch on both of them is hit and miss at best. I usually use them for trolling boards or lead core and have had BOTH of them screw up on me under load. Not what I'm looking for in a reel at all. On the positive side, I like the extra large handle on the Okuma, feels good and strong while your winching in, but in reality, if I had removed the pin in my butt (it holds my wallet very tightly to my butt) and coughed up the extra $30.00 per reel for the Sealine, I would have three excellent reels that I can feel confident, I'll be passing along to my kids one day. At this point, I have confidence that I'll be passing one reel down to my kids, and a couple of very shiny paper weights! HH
  2. Great report and now I must say that I am really Jonesin as my family and I are heading up there this Saturday! Thanks again for the info Jason, as far as the phone is concerned... live and learn! HH
  3. Also, sorry for the double post, I would suspect that the frame of the pool will be intact, at least most of it as breaking up the concrete, just to bury it would seem to me to be too much un-required work and I know that I would be inclined to do a little as possible to it, in order to bury it. But unfortunately, you won't know until you dig. Perhaps another consideration is to hire help yourself to do the excavating as from my experience, pool dudes don't like to dig and will charge you tons to do it... maybe you could find some students to dig it out and then have the pool dudes in. HH
  4. Hey Flexrod... I don't know how much research you have done on the saltwater systems, but if the pool is as big as you say it is at 20 x40, you may want to consider getting a price on the system first. My pool is 18 x36, one of the biggest residential sized pools available, your would be bigger. I went through many considerations this spring as I had to replace my pump and filter system and did consider very seriously, a salt water system. Wow, the price difference was enormous! Plus, what many won't tell you is that there is a shelf life for those systems, they last for about 5 years, give or take, so ... consider that before you make the change. Good luck! HH
  5. As a pool owner, a couple of things come to mind... 1. BE sure that your municipality is made aware of your plans... here, I believe you need a permit to fill in a pool and may require one to "re-open one". 2. It seems to me anyway, that it would be cheaper to try and re-open the existing pool as you will only have to excavate the filler. Should you be looking at a complete build out, you will also have to remove the existing concrete, before you can start pinning a new one! HH
  6. I have to agree with Cliff... as this is the Friday before the long weekend, plus, we are in the middle of July, with a ton of people already out on holidays, my crystal balls says that traffic will be comparatively light. That being said, your gonna find the 401 to be busy with folks doing the same thing you are vs commuting to work. Stay in the "core" lanes, tune into AM680 for traffic every ten minutes, put some padding on yer steering wheel and give 'er a go! HH
  7. Yup, we were about due for one of these threads... been about two or three months since the last one... so I guess this makes Roy and company somewhat like Walmart greeters! HH
  8. Similar scenario... I was tossing jigs on Quinte, fishin Eye's in a tournament and I tossed it right to the edge of a drop off and let it sink. As it was dropping, I saw a V wake blasting it's way to my jig. I thought for sure it was a Pike driving towards my jig... it hammered it! Six lb line and the fight was on... buddy is dripping with anticipation, holding the net, until old bugle lips (I like that name by the way!) shows it's hideous mug at the side of the boat! I'm somewhat surprised that my cursing has finally subsided! lol HH
  9. You Sir, are now covered! All of the above info is dead on... well done OFC'ers! HH

  11. Cliff, you will hit 300ft of water at around the 12 mile mark! You may want to consider the "deep spool" for that amount of line! HH
  12. Those fish are abundantly available right now in 360 feet of water.... and no one to push you out of the way and nothing but blue sky and tons of open water! And it's virtually impossible to line them" HH

  16. Be careful if you plan to trap it and transport it... I did some research with the Ministry of Natural Resources regarding a raccoon issue and learned this... You are legally allowed to track a live animal, however, you may not move that animal more than one kilometer from the point of capture, as they are trying to ensure that diseased animals are not being shipped to areas that don't have diseased animals. Quite a fine attached to it if your caught by the way. Your alternative is to capture the animal and destroy it yourself... although you can't legally do it within the city limits, should you have a friend with a farm, you may transport the animal there to be destroyed... however, that being said, you MUST document actual damage caused by the animal, before you may legally destroy it. I know you have no intention of hurting the fox, just providing info the Ministry provided. So, to answer your question contact the Ministry to find out what options they suggest. Also, Foxes' main diet is mice. Although your cat should keep a close eye on how many lives he/she has left!LOL We have one in my Scarborough neighbourhood who is also, not very shy! HH
