  1. This may be a good place to start! http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19716 HH
  2. Torontonians have a long history of being suckers for hype... and the NFL is the master of hype, with NASCAR coming in a close second. How else can you explain the money that goes into the NFL, Vegas aside for a moment, it's all hype! We are talking about a game that is supposed to be 60 minutes, takes 3-4 hours to play and in reality, there is only about 10 minutes of action, during that 3-4 hour period... hype and media have made the NFL what it is today... I think the emperor is not wearing any clothes! HH
  3. Shouldn't you be using a Boca on the Kitties!LOL Nice report, sweet kitties and personally, I don't blame her one bit for dissing you... I bet it won't be the last either! LOL HH
  4. You should have borrowed Wayne's Lund hat (L) it would have been quite appropriate! HH
  5. I believe that Gerritt was intending to make members of the board aware of the level of service he has been receiving from this out fit. It is not at all uncommon for members to let other members know about exemplary customer service. The same could be said for less than stellar service! HH
  6. G... my window of opportunity to take a week will be either of Aug 9th (saturday) or 16th. Man, I can't believe that my summer is already practically booked... thanks G! HH
  7. I'm with fishnfriend ... go fishin and listen to it on the radio in yer tent, while you are re-tying up some baits... HH
  8. Gerritt, Bill Parker, Gerritt's BIL (Mark) and myself were once again fortunate enough to have been invited back to Bernies cottage on Nip, this time for some opening season pickereye fishin. Meet up with G, Bill and Mark at Gerritt's office at 7 and the 400 at 6:30 on Friday morning, loaded up my stuff and we were on our way. Mark saw his first ever, not at a zoo Moose on the side of the road and with some clever chatter, time flew and before you knew it, we were in Powasson. Bernie met us at the launch, we loaded up Bernies pontoon boat, G's boat and we were off to the cottage. As we were not allowed to fish until Saturday, we started out our trip by trying very hard to put a dent into our beverage supply. Saturday morning, we hit the water, it was a little cool, cloudy and breezy, but with the company kept, I didn't really notice. Bernie guided us to many of his usual haunts, but there just wasn't many fish around to be caught. By all accounts, the season is still about 2-3 weeks late, so the fish were scattered at best. Not much to show for our efforts but some laughs and a few dinky perch. So no fish for dinner, we dove into the Prime Rib roast G brought along and he wasn't kidding about the quality of the meat his butcher provides! Sunday we woke to similar weather as Sunday, just more rain and wind... fished most of the morning with limited success, until we tried an island that was taking the brunt of the waves. Once we got set up, both Bill and I hit some slot fish... no, I won't mention the sheepy's Bill! Back to Bernies for some supper, back out for some fish... nothin doing. Monday was a wash out... weather was just to stupid for fishin, boat control being our paramount concern. After the long drive down hwy 11, I arrived back home by about 6:30 pm Monday night. As always, I had a blast... laughing, fishing, eating... everything that goes with having a great time! Thanks again Bernie for allowing us to once again, turn your cottage upside down! To Gerritt, your the best dude! Bill, a pleasure to fish with and Mark, if you do get a chance to read this... "It you! no you... your good!" If you've not met Bernie yet, you owe it to your self to stop on your way by to introduce yourself... he's without a doubt, the best! HH PS... now most don't know that Bernie can catch fish, virtually any time he wants... he has the knowledge, the experience and the willingness to get the job done. I for one, also know that if we had not been there this past weekend, Bernie would probably not have fished. I want to personally thank Bernie for taking us out! It was cold, wet and just not the kind of day/weekend, those who have this incredible resource in the their backyard NEED to get out in, but Bernie took us out, froze his baah doop doo off and never once suggested that we hit the cottage for some warm up! Bernie my friend, you are the best! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
  9. FishnSled is with out a doubt, a fantastic guy and a person I am proud to call my bud! HH
  10. Thanks Cliff! I don't use a net, I just bring along my ski gloves and lip 'em! That, or they get stuck in the bucket, so who really needs a net! HH
  11. I'll be heading up to Nip for the weekend, enjoying the company of GOOD friends! I have already cleaned up my white bucket, loaded it to the brim with large and small marshmellows and am lookin forward to hookin/catchin anything willing to dine on my offerings! HH PS... i hope the bucket snares them in the mouth!
  12. Nice Eye brother! If I was heading that way this weekend, I'd be keeping a very close eye on water temperature and find areas where warmer water from shallow bays enters into any main bay areas. Also, consider any wind blown areas that may stack warmer water, with deep water access near by. HH
  13. Interesting question and one that I asked my self this year when I went for Whities on the ice, for the first time. I was comparing the Williams' we were using, to the size of the Whities mouth and honestly, there is no way those spoons would come close to fitting into their mouth! (WIlliams half and half hammered with side wash hooks) From the way they were hooked, it appeared to me anyway, that they had taken a swipe at the baits, missed and were hooked near /around the mouth. Now this obviously this doesn't make a "potential" wrong a right, but from what I noticed, virtually EVERYONE was using the same bait. Does this mean the most of the folks out there jiggin, including myself, were keeping illegal fish! Doh... good question Brian! HH
  14. johnny, we'll just keep an eye out for the only dude on the lake not wearing a shirt... that should help us narrow down the crowd! HH
  15. Gerritt... bring lots of yer batter bud! I hope/expect we are going to need it! HH
  16. Well, since Irishfield is gone to the lake, I guess I'll play the role of Wayne here... let me know how I do! "I always wanted a stuffed beaver but they have the right to live as well." Don't we all dude, don't we all! HH
  17. Good report Beats! Too bad about not catchin any Pickereyes, but ya got out... BTW .... I know that spot! LOL Nest time, try a little closer to the Delaware bridge, in some of the backwater eddys. I've heard from some buddys that the netting going on in the river has really killed the run... HH
  18. Make sure to velcro your camera to yer chest and have a great time bud! Oh, and congratulate Leah for me, for catching the biggest fish of the summer... off the dock! HH
  19. Great report guys! I'm glad you mentioned that hand cleaner Will, cause, without it, you would have a hard time gettin in my front door with that stank all over you! LOL Good job, nice healthy lookin fish... now get rid of the carp gear, get yerself a 5ft light rod, 6 pound test and then, show us how to handle those piggies! HH
  20. Many good points there John F... as usual! My Dad's tool of choice, was an old used fan belt he had hanging in the basement. It seemed to be able to solve a lot of his problems pretty quickly ! HH
  21. Clampit... I have to agree with Rick, they can fire you at any time for any reason, but the Ministry of Labour will almost certainly favour the employee should it go that far and it will ... definately should the employee know his rights. If ya really want to see an Incorporation squirm... threaten them with the Ministry of Labour... it would be cheaper in the long run just to pay the employee to stay home! Please don't ask how I know this! HH
  22. "I was going to suggest bear repellant, but now I see one of them had a gun. Where are the parents of these kids????" My guess Rick is that they are out buy Kevlar vests! HH
  23. Now, I moved away from London back in the late 80's... but if I recall correctly, that area of town, Kipps Lane, has a long standing reputation as being one of the rougher parts of town... just so ya know! Certainly in no way makes it right... I just can't imagine what went through that fathers head, in respect to his child and the crap there were going through... ignorant bastages! HH
  24. My partner here at work has a cottage in the Kawartha's and has been broken into 3 times in the last 5 years! OPP state quite openly that it's "just maw and paw Kettle out doing there grocery shopping" get a security system... which they did. Now, when they get broken into, they find out right away, versus finding out when they arrive at their cottage for the weekend. The thieves stole all of their food, including what was in the freezer as well as some electronics... actually, anthing they could carry. A thief is the lowest form in my opinion. Garry... I have been talking to my wife for years about the exact same thing... but she's a city girl and I have my hands full with that one! HH
  25. Freshwaterfanatic... my wife is a Principle in the Toronto board and quite frankly, I can't/won't post here what I've learned about what goes on in these schools... the thread would be locked up faster that Amy Winehouse! HH
