  1. Great report, nice pics! Thanks for that... but the dude holding them carp close to his chest is gonna have problems with; - any future female attraction! -cleaning bill -smelling like Kensington Market on a nice July day! HH
  2. My thoughts exactly Raf... nice catch = nice pike bait! LOL HH
  3. In my past lives fishin carp, it's been my experience that when they are active as you described, they're getting in spawning mode. It is very difficult to get them to bite anything when they are tearing up the shore line etc... my only success for them when they are like that, is to move to another area, in relative close proximity. with access to deeper water. I believe that that area, acts somewhat as a holding area for them and they will tend to bite. As mentioned, if you can see them, they can see you and they will not bite. Try seeking out slower water deeper water areas relatively near where you are seeing active carp spawning and you may do better... also, crawlers may be a better alternative at this time of year. HH
  4. Oh yah baby! Great report... Sunday is only two days away! HH
  5. Lundboy... I don't think Miller or any of his croney's are anywhere near smart enough to be doing that on purpose... however I will no argue that they may well be being manipulated by higher forces.... the dude's just not smart enough to come up with that! LOL HH
  6. Who's the lucky sod who gets to collect the stuff?! And better yet, how the heck do they know when the Muskie needs to go! LOL I wonder what marshmellows would do to a muskie's system? Fiber fiber fiber! HH
  7. Bernie's cottage!!!!! Otherwise, I find that Bay of Quinte provides as much entertainment this old body can handle! HH
  8. I would hazard a guess that vehicles kill and injure more people in the GTA than guns do, by far! The carnage on the roads is quite scary! Well, that idiot Miller would like us all to park our cars anyway. The carnage that takes place every weekend in the entertainment district is mainly knife based, very little guns by comparison... I guess if Miller had his way, I'd be cutting my steak with chop sticks! (sorry, meat is bad, I meant tofu!) This entire topic is simply yet another way for these left wing morons to take more control away from us, making us the sheep they want us to be! To bad we can't ban morons! HH
  9. Miller and his band of communists will do or say anything to get more bleeding heart leftist "city-it's" to follow him. I wonder how many of these morons have actually been outside of the borders of the GTA? Can't recall the last time I read about someone being shot at a gun club... hey, maybe they should make a few selected areas of Toronto "gun clubs" , that would at least make them safe! HH
  10. Number 14 Dave Keon! The man could and did do everything for the team! HH
  11. Joey, those numbers are way off the mark! I'm sure that with some investigation, you could do much better than that! HH
  12. Mortgage insurance is transferable to another property, should you decide to move. It is calculated based on your age at the original time of taking out the insurance, the only flexible part is the amount owed on your second mortgage... the calculation rate is based on your age at the time of the original insurance... clear as mud!LOL My example: Bought my first house in 1994, took out the mortgage insurance at that time. The rate charged was based on my age at that time. When we bought our new house last spring, the rate charged for mortgage insurance was based on my age back in 1994, with the increase in mortgage amount being the increasing rate factor. There were a number of times in my old house, when I thought that since it was almost paid off, I'd just kill the Mortgage insurance... but was advised that if I was considering moving, to keep up the payments as the rate would be taken from the original time of insuring (1994). Don't know if this helps, but what the heck! HH
  13. Hey Joey and Paul... congrats on the new house! I have been paying mortgage life insurance since I bought my first house... it was transferable to my new home with a slight monthly increase to reflect the increased value of my new home. I seriously considered canceling that insurance when I was close to paying off my old house, but was convinced to keep it as the rate calculated was based on my age at the time of originally taking out the mortgage insurance. We are paying about $35.00 /month for what I believe to be piece of mind... should anything happen to myself or my wife, at least I know that they will have a roof over the heads! A life insurance policy will cover many costs, but with the cost of funerals today, I personally think that mortgage insurance is a valuable product to me and my family. If your mortgage is not a big one, say under $50k... then insurance may not be for you... but if it's a large one and you know that those you may be leaving behind will be hard pressed to meet the obligation.... money well spent, in my opinion! HH
  14. Bernie... Will's not at all like me... he's actually a really nice guy! LOL Worth the drive Will, just probably not by boat! HH
  15. I'm pretty sure I knew that Glenn... just thought that perhaps Mike the Pikes pic of him holding that Kitty might inspire you to new levels catch holding prowess! HH
  16. This may be a good place to start! http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19716 HH
  17. Torontonians have a long history of being suckers for hype... and the NFL is the master of hype, with NASCAR coming in a close second. How else can you explain the money that goes into the NFL, Vegas aside for a moment, it's all hype! We are talking about a game that is supposed to be 60 minutes, takes 3-4 hours to play and in reality, there is only about 10 minutes of action, during that 3-4 hour period... hype and media have made the NFL what it is today... I think the emperor is not wearing any clothes! HH
  18. Shouldn't you be using a Boca on the Kitties!LOL Nice report, sweet kitties and personally, I don't blame her one bit for dissing you... I bet it won't be the last either! LOL HH
  19. You should have borrowed Wayne's Lund hat (L) it would have been quite appropriate! HH
  20. I believe that Gerritt was intending to make members of the board aware of the level of service he has been receiving from this out fit. It is not at all uncommon for members to let other members know about exemplary customer service. The same could be said for less than stellar service! HH
  21. G... my window of opportunity to take a week will be either of Aug 9th (saturday) or 16th. Man, I can't believe that my summer is already practically booked... thanks G! HH
  22. I'm with fishnfriend ... go fishin and listen to it on the radio in yer tent, while you are re-tying up some baits... HH
  23. Gerritt, Bill Parker, Gerritt's BIL (Mark) and myself were once again fortunate enough to have been invited back to Bernies cottage on Nip, this time for some opening season pickereye fishin. Meet up with G, Bill and Mark at Gerritt's office at 7 and the 400 at 6:30 on Friday morning, loaded up my stuff and we were on our way. Mark saw his first ever, not at a zoo Moose on the side of the road and with some clever chatter, time flew and before you knew it, we were in Powasson. Bernie met us at the launch, we loaded up Bernies pontoon boat, G's boat and we were off to the cottage. As we were not allowed to fish until Saturday, we started out our trip by trying very hard to put a dent into our beverage supply. Saturday morning, we hit the water, it was a little cool, cloudy and breezy, but with the company kept, I didn't really notice. Bernie guided us to many of his usual haunts, but there just wasn't many fish around to be caught. By all accounts, the season is still about 2-3 weeks late, so the fish were scattered at best. Not much to show for our efforts but some laughs and a few dinky perch. So no fish for dinner, we dove into the Prime Rib roast G brought along and he wasn't kidding about the quality of the meat his butcher provides! Sunday we woke to similar weather as Sunday, just more rain and wind... fished most of the morning with limited success, until we tried an island that was taking the brunt of the waves. Once we got set up, both Bill and I hit some slot fish... no, I won't mention the sheepy's Bill! Back to Bernies for some supper, back out for some fish... nothin doing. Monday was a wash out... weather was just to stupid for fishin, boat control being our paramount concern. After the long drive down hwy 11, I arrived back home by about 6:30 pm Monday night. As always, I had a blast... laughing, fishing, eating... everything that goes with having a great time! Thanks again Bernie for allowing us to once again, turn your cottage upside down! To Gerritt, your the best dude! Bill, a pleasure to fish with and Mark, if you do get a chance to read this... "It you! no you... your good!" If you've not met Bernie yet, you owe it to your self to stop on your way by to introduce yourself... he's without a doubt, the best! HH PS... now most don't know that Bernie can catch fish, virtually any time he wants... he has the knowledge, the experience and the willingness to get the job done. I for one, also know that if we had not been there this past weekend, Bernie would probably not have fished. I want to personally thank Bernie for taking us out! It was cold, wet and just not the kind of day/weekend, those who have this incredible resource in the their backyard NEED to get out in, but Bernie took us out, froze his baah doop doo off and never once suggested that we hit the cottage for some warm up! Bernie my friend, you are the best! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
  24. FishnSled is with out a doubt, a fantastic guy and a person I am proud to call my bud! HH
