  1. There are only two things more disgusting than having a Sheep Head aka "water goat" on your line... having one in your boat and passing one rotting on the surface of the water as your trolling by HH
  2. I wonder if they are making him into "Soylent Green" ! It's people! It's people! LOL! http://www.soylent-green.com/ HH
  3. Arranged with FishnSled and my buddy Tom to get out and get one more kick at the ice cat, for the elusive Perch on Cooks Bay. We arrived in Keswick and were on the ice by 7:00am. Conditions were fantastic for walking as the temp had dropped over night to below freezing, making the ice surface really easy to walk. Upon drilling the first hole, we found there to be at least 20 inches of solid ice, with the top four or five inches being crusty. A little side note as to our approach to Perchin: We feel that we are best served moving quickly and not trying to finesse a non productive hole. Tom drilled out 18 holes for every position we stopped at. We would quickly fish each hole, if no one was home, next hole please. We made 5 stops, with very limited results and were beginning to think we were not going to be in for a good day. After some discussion, we decided to head out toward the "Fingers" to give'em a try... well, the three mile hike out there was pleasant enough, easy walkin and in what seemed like no time, we were there. Tom proceeded to drill out about 90 holes and we would simply go from hole to hole, lookin for active fish. We ended up staying there for the rest of our day, with schools moving in and out all day long. As the day began to heat up, temperature wise, we could hear the melting ice below us, trickling down the cracks... and the surface crust began to turn to slush! The fish were cooperating as well, with again, similar to our last outting, 2 weeks ago, plenty and I do mean plenty of small 5-6 inchers. At around 3:00pm, we decided to head back as we were getting worried about the slush slowing us down and becoming down right tedious to walk the three miles back to the truck. We took our time, stopped at some of the holes we drilled on our way out and took about an hour to get back. Totals for the day were as follows; Tom 106 perch - mostly small or very small as he was working a Pimple with a dropper rig and was able to hook the small ones very easily. Headhunter, aka Joe - 84 with biggest fish again this week! FishnSled - 48 perch! Much better then the previous week and gettin better all the time... actually, if FnS had of just moved a little more, he's have done better as well. I have some pics that I'll ask FnS to post later. My opinion: Given that the temps on Saturday night did not drop before zero, I can't imagine that the conditions are very good right now! Getting on the ice was fine and so was getting off, but with the temps being what they are, I'd be concerned and very cautious before considering venturing out. Slush and weak spots would hold me back! Won't be long now before we can start chasin them outta a boat! Hope you enjoyed! HH
  4. How dare you go fishing without your waders CC! Do you not have any concern for the well being those fish! LOL You should check your "everything I need to bring to insure that no one on the board get upset list" before you go out the door! Such short sightedness! Keep the reports a comin! HH
  5. I'm starting to get that feeling again! A guy posts some pics of some fish he caught and once again folks take it in a completely WRONG direction. Thanks for the report and please, don't let the little people stop you from posting in the future. HH
  6. LOL Wayne! I knew I should have taken that Bomber away from him two years ago! HH
  7. I'd ask Terry! LOL! Well, unfortunately, I've caught them on just about everything when trolling... from my expereince, if you really really want to catch a big one, I'd put on any crank bait you like, trolling and in my mind picture a 32 inch Pickereye attaching it... that should pretty much guarantee you hooking a big old "Water Goat"! Someone lookin to make some soup?! HH
  8. "Yikes, so it could create a little bit of bother then if two play well and one is poop? (after a few pop's of course)..." That sounds like to "the Police" to me! LOL HH
  9. I "played" Rock Band for most of the early 80's Joey! Quit when I realized that I liked to eat and playing dumps in Northern Ontario was not going to provide me with the 3 squares I found I'd become accustomed to! HH
  10. Personally, I prefer to visit places that have a "British" influence in the past. No more "banana republics" for this guy. I find that the British influence has raised the bar on that society and creates a far more enjoyable atmosphere for my vacation dollars. Also, you tend to get better food and drink and you won't have to learn a new language, unless of course you decide you want to go to Jammin Man! Can't reccommend Barbado's enough! HH
  11. Cliff, I would do some "due diligence" regarding the Sens front office. I'd find out who is responsible for managing/directing the staff, in regard to customer service. I'm sure they have some kind of customer service team. I'd connect via the phone, rather than email or snail mail... much harder to ignore than the former. Should that route not net you your expected results, I'd be writing a letter to a local Ottawa paper and hope that some bad press would potentially get some interest from the team. Hope this helps? HH Ps... here's the phone number: (613) 599-0250
  12. Thanks for your replies folks! Appreciate the effort... it appears as though in the right situation, it is the way to go... I will have to give it a try this summer and fall and reprot back on my findings... nice info here folks... THANKS! HH
  13. Well, at the least, it won't get freezer burn! HH
  14. Thanks for the info guys, but does anybody actually have any first hand experience in a direct comparison? thanks, HH
  15. http://www.snotr.com/video/960 Even makes Quintie on a really bad day look like a mill pond! HH
  16. I simply won't go perchin through the ice without my power maggots! Without a doubt, I will out fish anyone using minnows for many reasons, but in a nut shell, they are the cat's ba doop do for perch through the ice. HH
  17. Has anyone ever done a side by side comparison of Floro vs say straight mono when fishing? I ask because as you can see, there have been many threads about Floro recently and it has raised this question in my mind. As I am mostly a troller, can anyone tell me that Floro has put more fish in the boat? If so, did you run two lines, identically and find that the Floro out performed that other? I am considering giving it a go.. but like so many things in this world, is it real or just hype? PS... I understand why the Musky guys use it, but for other applications, is there really a quantifiable difference or does it just give you a sense of confidence that in turn, nets your results? Thanks, HH
  18. No Duber... you won't taste any better when your gone... the worms will simply get sleepy and have a long lie down! HH
  19. I believe that Wayne has unconsciously began a program to test virtually every camera manufacturer's product under water abilities! Give more time, I'm sure he will post a report outlining each camera's ability to survive a plunge into the cool dark waters of the T. Fortunately, there are no fish in T and therefore, no real requirement for actual photos! Either that or he's getting clumsier by the day! LOL HH
  20. I was speaking with my brother in London last night, he works for a Magna company and they are now down to 3 days a week! Yes, this is the result of a labour dispute in the U.S. and yes, this too shall eventually end, but, wouldn't you, as a business owner begin looking at all aspects of your company's business and consider any and all options that would put your company in a position to be profitable? I know that if I owned a company and I saw that unreliable labour, high taxes, high labour costs were eliminating my bottom line, I would seriously consider moving it to a place where my bottom line is acceptable. I'm sure that many folks will have issues with this, but we here in the "1st world" have created our own mess. We are pricing ourselves out of the market. Getting to the point of the thread... no I would not buy a motor made in China... my experience with products from that area of the world tells me that I am not buying a solution to my problems, let's face it, virtually every buying decision is made based on a "preceived "problem" that the buyer has, be it a need, want or desire. When I spend my hard earned cash, I expect that what I am getting will meet my expectation... so far, by in large, products from that part of the world have been pretty disappointing. HH
  21. Ole and Sven were fishing on the Minnesota opener when Sven pulled out a cigar. Finding he had no matches, he asked Ole for a light. "Ya, shure, I tink I haff a lighter," he replied. Then reaching into his tackle box, he pulled out a Bic lighter 10 inches long. "Yiminy Cricket!" exclaimed Sven, taking the huge Bic Lighter in his hands. "Vere dit yew git dat monster??" "Vell," replied Ole, "I got it from my Genie." "You haff a Genie?" Sven asked. "Ya, shure. It 's right here in my tackle box," says Ole. "Could I see him?" Ole opens his tackle box & sure enough, out pops the Genie. Addressing the genie, Sven says, "Hey dere! I'm a good friend of your master. Vill you grant me vun vish?" "Yes, I will," says the Genie. So Sven asks the Genie for a million bucks. The Genie disappears back into the tackle box leaving Sven sitting there, waiting for his million bucks. Shortly, the sky darkens and is filled with the sound of a million ducks....flying directly overhead. Over the roar of the million ducks Sven yells at Ole. "Yumpin' Yimminy, I asked for a million bucks, not a million ducks!" Ole answers, "Ya, I forgot to tell yew dat da Genie is hart of hearing. Do yew really tink I asked for a 10-inch Bic?" Hope you enjoyed! HH
  22. I'd eat a vegan if there was any meat on them! HH
  23. I remember fishin Port Burwell as a kid, mostly the pier for perch, but on occassion, into the river/creek for some cats. It was it seemed, forever being dredged back then as well. So many of Erie's tribs get filled in so quickly... not surprised by this at all. Hopefully the powers that be will take care of it! HH
  24. Yup I sure was Tootsie! Thanks for clearing that up... sorry to the original poster HH
  25. Now that sucks Terry! I'll keep my eyes open for yah... I bet I know who's gonna want to strangle who ever did it! HH
