Horwood Outpost/Horwood Lake anyone stay there?
Headhunter replied to Bing's topic in General Discussion
It is a lake that has an abundance of snot rockets and small pickereyes. Minnows are the ticket for consistent success... the lake is horseshoe in shape and is a reservoir with a fairly consistent depth. Tons of fish, finding big ones can be more difficult. The logging road in can be an adventure... be sure you have lots of gas in your tanks before you leave Timmins! HH -
Congrats Joey! I'd be making sure that I don't leave that torpedo sitting on one of the seats of the boat, just before take off... look pretty funny with the back fins stickin out of yer behind! HH

Looks like a nice day on Quinte to me! LOL HH -
I like Gerritts batter too! Did a fine job on the fish up at Bernies! Normally, I just do the flour, egg wash and spiced bread crumbs and cook it all up in Lard! Mmmmm lard! HH

Every day is "Earth Day" at my house! As a cheap Prick, nothing drives me battier than a light burning for no reason. I did find it rather humorous that so many folk jumped on this "conservation" wagon... when in reality, if you truly did care, you would be doing this every day anyway. Now, before the "conspiracy" folks get their under-ware in a knott, I would not be doing it because some left wing tree hugger asked me to or because some former pollitcal leader wants more of my money... I do it because I'm CHEAP! Isn't that motivation enough? HH

I feel sorry for Hab fans... at least we Leaf fans have no expectations of success, therefore, we have no real sense of loss as a result of "our" teams results... where as you Hab fans actually think your team will have a measure of success this year in the playoffs... they are already over due for their late season swoon... GO Jays GO! LOL! HH PS... I bet Leaf players are better fishemen than Hab players... they have way more time on the water! OK, I'll stop, I'm hurting myself!

Roy, 1. soak the reed for a few minutes 2. attach it to the mouth piece 3. assemble the rest of the instrument 4. apply proper fingering 5. BLOW LIKE HECK! There does that help! HH

"Is that why lactating breasts taste so good ...." As you know Wayne... that one really hurts right now!LOL HH

Soaking anything that is "gamey" or over powering in milk for a few hours, will remove that taste. Many people do it when cooking organs such as liver or kidney and it also works very well for fishies! Not at all suggesting that Catfish require this treatment, but thought I'd pass this along. HH

Hey Bernie, Like just about everything else, everyone is going to have an opinion, be it right or wrong. May I suggest that you have a look here http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=106 and perhaps sign up and ask any questions you want? Nice group of people here to, and very knowledgeable. PS... you can pick up a 32in TUBE TV for a couple of hundred bucks right now, and we both know it will outlast any of the new stuff! IF you could hold off buying for a bit, some new and really cool technology is coming out soon, that may well leave LCD and Plasma in the dust. HH

Well, I for one will also miss the yearly catalogue as it is at the top of the rack in the "powder room". It has also worked quite effectively as a means of ignoring the insanity that surrounds me! IE; "Honey can you help with the kids?" "Can't honey, I'm doing "due dilligence" with the Crappy Tire book, lookin for something" I'm gonna have to get BPS and Cabela's on the phone and get them to send me all their catalogues, or the power room is gonna be a more tragic place to spend time! HH

Now that's a pretty cool place... I did not know I could use a Howitzer shell container for an ash tray! Thanks for the link! HH

Your gonna need a pretty big stroller to take that puppy out for a walk! HH
-
Ok... you don't need a line counter... but all the reels mentioned are line counters?! For the price, you can't beat the Diawa Sealine... I'll keep my opinions on the Okuma to myself. HH
-
Mike, will you be looking at line counter reels for trolling or your basic trolling reel? HH
-
Poodles make very nice Pike bait! HH

You could buy the package, try and get the motor running well and run the snot out of it... or you could keep the boat, fix it up and give the motor to Big Cliff, to help someone else out! Pay it forward? HH

Good luck Bill, if you do decide to get out for some fun. Sorry I can't help with conditions, but I'll be sure to not empty a few bales of hay into the Credit this weekend as I now know that you will be fishin it! The eastern tribs just might find a lot of straw floatin down stream... just to get a few here going! LOL! In actuality, I have a friend who has done this before! He got absolutely sick of the horse manure that goes on on these tribs, so he opened up a few bales of hay up stream and let it all float down! Sat on shore and watched these "sportsman" loose their minds trying to drift for fish just trying to spawn... something about shooting fish in a barrel I believe! Sorry for the highjack Bill... good luck and take tons o pics! HH

Nice report Wayne! Too bad the door didn't hit you in your good ear, it would help to balance you out a bit! LOL HH

I, unfortunately learned most of these life lessons through the school of hard knocks... wish my guidance counsellor had these posted up on his wall!LOL I know we have a very mixed bag of folks here, ranging from young to very "experienced". I'm sure most can relate! Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it! Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both. Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity. Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them. Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time. Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one. HH

Well, for many years I have been recommending Maui Jim glasses to anyone who will listen! That being said, they are definately out of your price range! After reading numerous posts regarding sunglasses over the years, you'll definately get several opinions, here's mine! I forgot my glasses at home last fall for the Quinte GTG. After reading many posts about sunglasses, I had DanC's comments in the back of my mind, so off I trotted to CTC and picked up a pair of Rapala Sunglasses for under $20.00. Are they the best glasses I have ever worn or owned... nope! Do they work... yup! I can stand on Cooks Bay all day in the glaring snow and not have eye fatigue at the end of the day. Yes they are polorized, but remember that polarization is only a film attatched to the lense and in-proper cleaning will wipe that film off! I still love my Maui Jims... but for $20.00 you just can't go wrong! HH

Never post questions about the air speed velocity of an un-laden swallow... African or European? Doh! HH

Thanks for enlightening me! I had no idea that "Spotted Carp" were readily available off planet! I wonder if you could use the "Canada arm" to cast! HH

Don't forget to discuss the merits of White buckets vs other coloured buckets!LOL HH
