  2. "So, I said this, and I quote... "So you won't come get the cat, but if I trap the cat, and bring it to you, and its hurt or tramatized, you'll charge me?" They said yes. So I replied "So what you're telling me to do is trap the cat myself, put it in a bag with some rocks and throw it in the river at night?" They got a little annoyed." Perhaps they were annoyed because they had plans to fish that body of water and had little or no intention of casting for or to, a burlap bag... unless the bag contained marshmellows of course. HH
  3. Philly has taken quite a few hits in the last couple of games and I'm wondering if they will be able to keep up the pace that they have established against the Habs. As last nights game wore on, it seemed to me anyway, that the Philly players were starting to look tired and the physical beating they have been laying on the Habs looks to be taking a toll on the team. Montreal on the other hand appeared to be scared, beaten and demoralized! As far as out shooting the Flyers is concerned, the Habs have Jason Blake syndrom... shoot from far out and hope! HH
  4. There was one located ion London at the corner of Highbury and Oxford street. We lived at the other end of town, but I remember the excitement my buddies and I would feel, riding our bikes across town, just to walk through that store and maybe spend some of my paper route money. I still have some Diawa reels I bought there as well as some rods. It was a sad day when they closed. HH
  5. "Oh.. and I speared a beaver last night as well... am I in trouble for that too?" Only if you had to ply "her" with a marshmellow Wayne! HH
  6. One thing I don't think has been discussed is relationship building with your bank. One bank has the vast majority of my business, multiple products, and I found that leveraging that "customer loyalty" against my rate and other sundry items relating to the mortgage, put me in a fantastic negotiating position. If you have a history of moving your stuff from one institution to another, just to save 0.1% off the rate, you've effectively eliminated one of your leverage points. Don't know if that will help you Emil, but it might be food for thought for others considering buying a house or investment property. HH
  7. Cliff, that was perfect! I suppose, based on how some of the threads have been going lately, that this one is going to head down hill pretty fast... a ton of dog lovers on this site and I'm already cringing at the pending insanity! Back to topic... I'd try what Cliff said! LOL HH PS... maybe feed it a marshmellow!
  8. Personally, I prefer the chocolate caramels vs the butterscotch! Although they are harder to find! HH
  9. Interesting how much money these companies are making... I suppose that the next question would be how much money did they have to spend to make that much profit and as such, what their actual return on investment looks like... it's easy to look at those profit numbers and be aghast, but one also has to take into consideration how much it cost the company to make that much money and how much/percentage did they actually receive based on investment. Royal Dutch, BP and Exxon are some of the biggest companies in the world... I wonder how many people they employ and how much money it cost them to make that doe, ray, me! In this capitalist world, companies have to report to their investors and profit is the name of the game. HH PS... money grabbing ice holes!LOL PSS... any idea how much money Exxon has paid out for the "Valdese" (sp) oil spill?
  10. Hats off the John again for providing such good advice! Emil, as we have talked about over the last little while, those who ask tend to get... those who wait, tend to pay! I don't think you will be able to get a simple black or white answer to your question Emil. I think your going to have to haggle to get what ever it is you desire... but make sure you have written quotes from many lenders before you leverage them against each other... the hungry lenders will do what they can to secure your business. HH
  11. Currently residing in Toronto, but I grew up in London and cut my teeth fishing the mighty Thames. We lived one block from Greenway Park and a ten minute bike ride to Springbank Dam. I fished, virtually anywhere on the Thames from Nilestown, downstream to Delaware. Mostly walkin/wading the river in search of smallies, but also enjoyed fishin the dam in the fall for ... believe it or not, steelhead, lakers, chinnies and coho! Of course, the mighty river hogg (carp) was a favorite foe during the hot summer months and the river never failed to provide all the fertilizer my mom's roses could eat! Also caught many bowfins, white perch, crappies, perch, gar, the occasional pike and of course, before the run was decimated pickereyes! It really is a great place to learn and practice your skills, with the variety of species available. HH
  12. Well that certainly looked like a lot of fun! Nice video, thanks for posting! HH
  13. Sweet Bill... I'll borrow FishnSled's deep fryer and we can have that fella browned and juicy at Bernies'! HH
  14. Cool link! thanks for posting! I assume, based on the size of those fish, that an electric knife was used to clean them up! HH
  15. Love the burger! It's almost big enough! Here's what I like to do; Basically you can make yer burger out of what ever you like, as long as it's RED MEAT and not some kind of poultry or non meat substance... that's a given. Combine your usual ingredients, to your taste, but before you start to make the patties, try this; -take a teaspoon of garlic butter, flatten it thin, like a loonie. -put it in the freezer for an hour to firm it up -make your patty, what ever size you like and insert the frozen garlic butter into the centre of the patty. -start grillin! -burger is done when you see butter coming out of the meat! -EAT and enjoy!! HH PS... this is the low fat method... for the full effects of the "standard burger" increase the butter!LOL
  16. Looks like yer ready to go... the only things I might add are "double padded head gear and some shoulder pads" HH
  17. Thanks guys... I'm using the Offshore boards with the locking clip, OR18 I believe and had assumed that all was right with the world! Gonna take a closer look next time... Spoonmaster, I'm wondering if your right when you suggested that the clips for the large boards might be the culprit. I know when I hook my in-lines to the line, I make every effort possible to maintain a straight line from the clips to the bait, if that makes any sense... I actually put the line in the back clip on something of an 45 degree angle to keep the line as straight out the board as possible. Maybe that has helped me not have break off issues? HH
  18. Yup... I think we have all had this crappy disease affect us... know that we are thinking of you and your family and be strong for all! HH
  19. Thanks Silver! Have you at all experienced a break off as a result of clipping directly to the Core? I'll do a check of my line next time out and take a real close look at this. I always thought that the clips on the board are well padded to prevent such things, but if others have experienced this issue, than I appreciate the heads up. Comments folks? HH
  20. Well, with all due respect to our honoured members who disagree, I will 2nd and 3rd the electric knife for cleaning Pickereyes... fast, effective and really easy! Once you know what your doing, it's unbelievably quick! For smaller fish, ie perch and crappies... a small bladed Rapala is the way to go! HH
  21. G. ... I suspect that with the new home, your mortgage will increase? If so, it has been my experience that lenders want that loan in their portfolio as well, so I would tell my current financial institution that if they charge me any fees to discharge the current agreement, I will take all of my business to another institution! As a matter of fact, I would personally visit at least two or three companies and find out what they would be willing to do for you, get it in writing ... you may find that they will actually absorb any fees your current mortgage will charge, just to get your business When I went through this last year, I simply pointed to the two banks across the street and told them I can easily get what I want for their competitors... I paid NO FEES at all for my new mortgage or for discharging the old mortgage on my old house. The bank took care of all of their internal costs. Ask and you shall receive... wait and get nothing! As far as getting a Home Inspection... well, I know a guy who can do that himself! The banks don't care about home inspections... not required or even interested... but they sure do want TITLE INSURANCE... that's where you would spend the money you may have set aside for a house inspection. Dude call me if you have any other questions! HH
  22. "Just a couple of hours on a Saturday Bernie!" Let's get 'er done! HH
  23. I run 30lb mono as my backing, super gluing the mono to the core. Usual around 100yds as I like to use this set up for salmon. I'm some what confused by the remarks about clipping a board onto the lead core... been doing it for years and have not had any break offs etc... Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks, HH
