What you all are decribing is a little something called G.A.S.! Gear Acquisition Syndrom and it manifests itself in many different forms. Just be glad your not like me and suffering from relentless G.A.S. for things guitar, Bass or amplification based. You think paying $20.00 for a lure is bad? Try spending $35-$45 per shot at trying to find a bass string you like! How about $2k to $4K for a new bass? How about another $4K for a good amp? Let's not talk about cables, and lessons and everything else! G.A.S run rampant across the board... my only real solution... buy used!!!!! HH

Ok, a couple of points... 1. you do not want the board to release at all! You want to reel it up with the fish and have your partner release the board as you back up toward the front of the boat, keeping tension on the line at all times. Do NOT allow the person releasing the board to put any slack or bounce in the line, releasing the board. 2. OR-18's don't go bad! I've had mine for many years and yes, it's $20.00, but amortized over many years, I don't get the problem. 3. Those releases work on braid and Lead Core and obviously with mono... so again, what's the problem. $. Many here prefer the Walleye boards, they work fine... personally, I find the Offshore boards perform better in the cold (below -5), they just seem to track better with ice on them. 4. LEAVE YOUR RIGGERS AT HOME!!!! And if you don't, please keep your boat and your noisy riggers away from my trolling run. 5. Drink Heavily! It's won't help yah catch fish, but it will sure help you get over the disappointment of gettin skunked! LMAO HH

We did this last year, but I'm sure many have forgotten or were not here for this last year. Please post your cold weather/fall Quinte tips! Here's mine: As most will be wearing Floatation Suits, here's a tip. If your returning to the cabin for lunch, take your suit off and turn it inside out. Same for over night. You will be amazed at how much moisture builds up inside your suit, while you wear it. Can make for a very uncomfortable day on the water. Ok... your turn! HH

Old joke; What's the difference between a lawyer and a Carp? One's a scum sucking bottom feeder..... the other's a fish!!! Sorry Stoty, I'm sure your need is valid, but lawyers bring out the worst in me!!!!! Good luck in your search! HH

Dude, like anyone is going to admit to that on an open forum!LMAO! HH

Hey folks, Just wondering if anyone who is coming from west of Quinte could tell me the best way to get to Perfect Vue. I know where it is, but I am wondering if I should take the 401 all the way to Napanee or should I take my usual route through Prince Edward County, to Picton, then the Glenora Ferry? Thanks folks! HH

Dano, everyone knows, ok FishnSled knows that AC/DC Highway to Hell will make 'em jump in the boat! LOL Excellent advice re locating active fish... another suggestion would be for those who's finders also have a side view, use it! Those active fish as Lloyd indicated are in the top section of the water and therefore most likely to flair away from a boat. Two more sleeps! (Till no sleep!LMAO) HH

I told you Saturday, you should go to Quinte and not bother fishin for those fish of 10,000 casts! But oh no, you'd rather waste a day chasing those ugly things!!!! LMAO!!! I guess Cliff really did school yah and yah took it ta heart! Still LMAO! Awesome day bud! Congrats... so how's Ken's ticker doing! Has he stopped shaking yet?!!!(Once again LMAO!) HH

Thanks those in charge for getting us back up! I found myself sitting in a corner of my office, huddled into a ball, rocking back and forth mumbling fish porn, fish porn under my breath! I can now begin my regularly scheduled programming! HH

Hey folks, just a thought and lookin for your thoughts or experience. Many folks believe that the Pickereye run of Lake O fish, is driven by water temps. Others would suggest it has to do with the angle of the sun, specifically low in the sky in October/November. There may be other factors at work here as well... What do you think is the driving factor as to when these big momma's come in. Yes, I know that they follow the shad, but in the last few years, it appears as though the shad have come in and the Pickereyes weren't there! So what are your thoughts!? HH

Nice report Bernie! I'm pretty sure that bear incident would have resulted in an accumulation in my nether regions!!!!!! Glad it worked out and I'm sure you'll get yer winter meat! HH -
Ted, we will talk on Friday night, but as far as what to bring, bait wise, you seem to have it covered! Give me a shout at work if you need more info! HH

Question.Attaching lead core line to a Planer Board
Headhunter replied to Mike the Pike's topic in General Discussion
Clipping the lead core to the board is not an issue. If you know anything about core, you know that the lead itself does not provide any of the strength of the line, only it's sinking properties. The plastic sheath surrounding the core is what provides it's strength. There are no issues using core on a board. HH PS... CONSOLE!!!!!! -
Quinte Report It was our first time fishing there

Nice Eyes guys! But I'm with Irish, what were those fish doing in yer box????? Unless of course you we holding them in there to revive them??? HH -

Tell her it was a "practice run/dress rehearsal" for the real show tonight! Heck, even the Leafs have to practice. We practice fishing for tournaments, we walk the woods before a hunt, we go to the shooting range to dial in and yet for such an important day/night that only happens once a year, we don't rehearse! Unthinkable! You did the right thing Brian, and now you have worked out all the bugs and are prepared to deliver onto your more than significant other, the day and night of her dreams!!!!! My best tip for you after 25 years... don't order her food from a loud speaker and no, the clown is not considered to be pampering! HH

TED!!! My Brother from another Mother!!!!! Last year, before the the GTG, Ted connected with me regarding the trip. We had room for one in our cottage, and invited Ted... none of us in our cottage had ever met Ted before! He showed up mid after on the Friday, quick introductions and immediately put a lovely pork roast in the oven, just so we could have something "to nibble on" during our stay! Needless to say we hit it off immediately and after sharing a few pops, we found out that we have many similar life experiences! He's like the brother I didn't know I had! Lookin forward to seeing yah again Ted! Hopefully this year we'll spank those Pickereyes! HH

Yup, 200 behind is better than 100 or 150, especially when winds are low, no walleye chop, to bust up light and sound (of yer engine). I'd also suggest that you stay away from the crowds as a matter of fact, I would make that my first priority out there. Good luck! Ps... If yer out in 2-4 fotters, try running yer baits 60-80 ft behind the board and 200 to 250 ft out from the boat! Just keep an eye on that board, cause when a double digit grabs that crank with only 60 ft behind the board, It's pretty cool! HH

Question.Attaching lead core line to a Planer Board
Headhunter replied to Mike the Pike's topic in General Discussion
It's also very good at dialing in the bottom on flats in the 20 to 30 ft range. The no stretch aspect of core also makes board reading that much easier... just remember that lead core and reel drag systems don't get along very well, so bear that in mind while your holding on the that double digit Sheepie!!!!! HH -
Great report and thanks for the temp details... a suggestion for you next visit... run those inline boards twice as far out from the boat... clear water, spooky fish... good luck! HH

Question.Attaching lead core line to a Planer Board
Headhunter replied to Mike the Pike's topic in General Discussion
Yup, been using Lead Core on offshore boards with the OR18 release clip (http://www.offshoretackle.com/prelease.htm) for years with NO problems what so ever. Now, if you want to see something really cool with lead core, you should see how I connect my leader to the core! HH Clips have been available at BPS... not cheap at around $18.00 per. -
G... there's no question about Jessica's hotness, my concern is leaving her at home when I'm out fishin! HH
