Cram, my wife loves her job! What she doesn't like is the mediorce or incompetant being rewarded with life long postions, with little or no interest in anything but themselves. If she frustrated... you betcha! Her perception of what she should be doing on a daily basis, spending time in class rooms and working with the community to introduce new curiculum is what she loves to do... and she's good at it! Unfortunately, the lions share of her day is spent very much like the guys that follows the elephant in the parade! HH

Cudz, salary is dependant on the board you work for... I know some teachers who are in the $90K plus bracket. As far as principals are concerned... well they are essentially the CEO of thier school... they have responsibility for everything and all things that happen at the school and in many cases, they are responsible for what the kids are doing off of school property as well! They don't get summers off completely... my wifes is on call 7 x 24 x 365 with regard to anything that happens at her school... I don't think her salary is out of line for any position with a similar level of resonsibility. HH

At the risk of being blasted, I'll chime in! My wife is a Principle in the Toronto Board, the school is K-8. She arrives at school no later than 8:00am. She leaves at 5:00pm. She has not had a lunch in 3 years! Yes, three years! As a single administrator in the school, her secretary takes her lunch, leaving the office empty if my wife isn't there. The secretray is a member of CUPE... she takes her lunch and breaks no matter what is happening in the school. My wife works nightly, until 10:00opm, doing the outragous amounts of paper work the board throws at them. That work does not get sdone during the day because my wife is constantly dealing with parents, disciplining students, dealing with various problems, kids hurting other kids, knives, drugs, drunk teachers... and all adminstrators do this! I have nothing but respect for adminstrators of schools... Teachers, well that's a differnet story! There are some really good dedicated professionals who do care, but I have to say, that many and I do mean many are folks who would not last a minute, in what I like to call the "real world". These people have graduated university to become teachers and so many of them can't meet dealines. EG, report cards late, spelling mistakes on report cards, gramatical errors on report cards... Oh and they virtually have to kill a child to get fired. I know of far too many teachers who simply get shipped from one school to next as they burn their bridges everywhere they go! Who pays for this ... the kids! And if the teacher has a level of seniority, they must be hired above other candidates, regardless of the actual abilities, or lack there of. Don't get me started on Education Assitants or custodial staff. My wife tells me her school is a dump! (mice , rats, racoons, chip munks) I ask her if she has confronted the custodial staff regarding the problem and her is is this; "I have to be really careful how and what I say to him as I need him to work with me, so if I bust him too hard, he's actually do less! And to make matters worse for her, he may file a grievence with the union, suggestioning that he is being brow beaten by and adminstrator. In the real world, he'd be fired! Not gonna happen. E/A's as they are called, are positions ANYONE can apply for! No education post secondary education required, nothing! They make around $35 -$40k per year. Teachers have a tough gig, unfortunately their working environemnt has changed and in my humble opinion, so has the "type" of person who gravitates to the profession. This "strike" is about prep time, not money. I think I should ask my boss if he could give me more time to prepare to do my job... I can already hear me working at my new job as a result... asking it you would like frys with that! LOL HH PS... Ronald REgan had the right idea!

I've taken to painting the front door of the house with goat's blood in an effort to ward off the evil spirits ... heck, it worked in the past, why not now! HH

If you think that show's "barbaric"... you definately don't want to watch Tony Bourdain cruise the world for tasty treats! I don't know how else you would prepare a fresh meal like that... barbaric is not a word I would use describe it, but, hey to each their own... that's why the remote has some many buttons on it! I'm pretty sure the Eel wouldn't clean it's self! HH

Hey Emil, just be aware that if you do get a permit, the municpality will then be made aware of the addition fixtures (ie Toilet, sink and drain) and will adjust your property taxes and potentially your water bill based on the the added draw on the system. HH

Glad your better CLiff! A few years back, just before a Quinte GTG, I started to come down with some kind of plague! FishnSled suggested to me, Cold FX... well, it worked for me... kept me on my feet and well, much to the joy of my fellow GTG fisher people, the only symptom I had was loosing my voice! (There was one heck of a celebration in our cottage I'll tell ya! Cold FX works well for half the people I have recommended, the other half, no results. It's all herbal and is designed to simply boost your immune system. It won't conflict with your medication. Oh and if your able, Chicken Soup! Glad yer better CLiff! HH

Lloyd... if I may suggest... bring a larger sized outfit for me! I'm much larger than Terry and since I expect that he and I will be sharing that outfit, I am just hoping that you one a few sizes larger... I can't be busting out at the seams you know! Don't worry Terry, we'll find some fish... or be the best dress pregnant dog on the lake! HH Ps.. picking up some Miss Clairol in hot red, just in case!

I had all four wisdom teeth pulled at the same time... I woke up while they were sewing my gums up and looked at the doctor and said "knitt one, perl two!" He told the nurse to put me out again! Thanks for the laughs Joey! HH

Forgot to mention that Sport Check has all their ski equipment on sale at half price this weekend! HH

Ok... my turn... my wife and I used to ski.Did I enjoy it? Well truthfully this is what I found... I would freeze my off going up on the lift. I would then sweat my off going down the hill... repeat ad nauseum! Got old pretty fast! Worst part for me was standing on top of Blue Mountain, looking at that beautiful forzen bay and wondering how many fish I could be catching, if I was out on the ice... that and it's really hard to keep yer jig on the bottom, when your tavelling up on the lift! HH

With all this employment talk here lately, I thought you were asking how to get your R.O.E. (Record of Employment)... I think I need a holiday! HH

Everything that life hands can be seen as an obstacle or an opportunity. It's been my experience in the employment industry (pushing 20 years now ) that those who grab that latter and run with it, will succeed... those who don't, well they have to be lucky... I have connected with Stoty in the past and will say that he will land on his feet... I've got my ears open for yah bud! HH

My office is a few blocks from the Church street pawn shops and I'm in there atleast once a week... I have yet to find a "deal" in any of them! I see some good equipment, but they have virtually priced the stuff out of it's real current market value! I have my eye on a bass, but they want a grand for it and in reality, it's really only worth about $500.00. They are prepared to let it hang there for as long as it takes! So, it won't be coming home with me! HH Ps... does this mean your not going to sell me that Ricky at a OFC reduced rate??????
-
I hear ya JWL, however, I'm pretty sure that an 18K car will not be worth more in ten years than that Les Paul! It's sad actually that high end instruments are so out of reach for the average player. HH

Well, we have a somewhat similar idea here in Toronto... the service is definately not as good but the burgers have the meat concept down pat! http://www.dangerousdansdiner.com/ The 24 oz burger is nice, but I prefer the "The Coronary Burger Special, although I will admitt to a keen fondness for the BEEF RIBS! HH

Yah Cliff, my first bass was a sunburst Ricky, 4003. (They stopped production of the 4001 in the mid 80's and replaced it with the 4003. The later versions of the 4001 had some neck/truss rod issues, so Rickenbacher decided to release the 4003. It has a chunkier neck, but virtually the same design as the 4001.) Mine had some fairly serious truss rod problems, so I ended up selling it in the mid 80's. Still love the tone of a Ricky, but find them to be something of a one trick pony... but it's a pretty good trick, IMHO! Currently there is a TWO year waiting list to receive a new Ricky from the factory. Used ones are selling in the $2k +++++ range! Great bass for what they do, and man, are they sexy looking! HH PS... Geddy hasn't used a Ricky for recording since Moving Pictures and most of the album was recorded using his '73 Jazz. He did have a short period of time using a Wal (serious gass pains for that, but starting at 5K, way out of my range.) Geddy now has a signature bass, from Fender. It's a made in Japan Jazz bass, retailing for around a grand. Nice neck, but really noisey pick ups.

Any chance of you parting with the 4001? Ricky's on my GAS list!LOL HH
