  1. Hey folks, just a thought and lookin for your thoughts or experience. Many folks believe that the Pickereye run of Lake O fish, is driven by water temps. Others would suggest it has to do with the angle of the sun, specifically low in the sky in October/November. There may be other factors at work here as well... What do you think is the driving factor as to when these big momma's come in. Yes, I know that they follow the shad, but in the last few years, it appears as though the shad have come in and the Pickereyes weren't there! So what are your thoughts!? HH
  2. Timeliness is next to goddliness my friend!! HH
  3. Nice report Bernie! I'm pretty sure that bear incident would have resulted in an accumulation in my nether regions!!!!!! Glad it worked out and I'm sure you'll get yer winter meat! HH
  4. Ted, we will talk on Friday night, but as far as what to bring, bait wise, you seem to have it covered! Give me a shout at work if you need more info! HH
  5. Clipping the lead core to the board is not an issue. If you know anything about core, you know that the lead itself does not provide any of the strength of the line, only it's sinking properties. The plastic sheath surrounding the core is what provides it's strength. There are no issues using core on a board. HH PS... CONSOLE!!!!!!
  6. Nice Eyes guys! But I'm with Irish, what were those fish doing in yer box????? Unless of course you we holding them in there to revive them??? HH
  7. HH
  8. A plate of steamed Mussels, a spinich salad, a nice slice of medium rare prime rib with all the fixins, a nice cool ale and yer lookin at a hard on a cat could'nt crawl up with spurs on! HH
  9. Tell her it was a "practice run/dress rehearsal" for the real show tonight! Heck, even the Leafs have to practice. We practice fishing for tournaments, we walk the woods before a hunt, we go to the shooting range to dial in and yet for such an important day/night that only happens once a year, we don't rehearse! Unthinkable! You did the right thing Brian, and now you have worked out all the bugs and are prepared to deliver onto your more than significant other, the day and night of her dreams!!!!! My best tip for you after 25 years... don't order her food from a loud speaker and no, the clown is not considered to be pampering! HH
  10. TED!!! My Brother from another Mother!!!!! Last year, before the the GTG, Ted connected with me regarding the trip. We had room for one in our cottage, and invited Ted... none of us in our cottage had ever met Ted before! He showed up mid after on the Friday, quick introductions and immediately put a lovely pork roast in the oven, just so we could have something "to nibble on" during our stay! Needless to say we hit it off immediately and after sharing a few pops, we found out that we have many similar life experiences! He's like the brother I didn't know I had! Lookin forward to seeing yah again Ted! Hopefully this year we'll spank those Pickereyes! HH
  11. Yup, 200 behind is better than 100 or 150, especially when winds are low, no walleye chop, to bust up light and sound (of yer engine). I'd also suggest that you stay away from the crowds as a matter of fact, I would make that my first priority out there. Good luck! Ps... If yer out in 2-4 fotters, try running yer baits 60-80 ft behind the board and 200 to 250 ft out from the boat! Just keep an eye on that board, cause when a double digit grabs that crank with only 60 ft behind the board, It's pretty cool! HH
  12. It's also very good at dialing in the bottom on flats in the 20 to 30 ft range. The no stretch aspect of core also makes board reading that much easier... just remember that lead core and reel drag systems don't get along very well, so bear that in mind while your holding on the that double digit Sheepie!!!!! HH
  13. Great report and thanks for the temp details... a suggestion for you next visit... run those inline boards twice as far out from the boat... clear water, spooky fish... good luck! HH
  14. Yup, been using Lead Core on offshore boards with the OR18 release clip (http://www.offshoretackle.com/prelease.htm) for years with NO problems what so ever. Now, if you want to see something really cool with lead core, you should see how I connect my leader to the core! HH Clips have been available at BPS... not cheap at around $18.00 per.
  15. G... there's no question about Jessica's hotness, my concern is leaving her at home when I'm out fishin! HH
  16. I have obviously put way to much thought into this and admittedly, I am beginning to scare myself! Ariel would be an ideal "partner, she could easily slip over the side of the boat, dive deep into Adolphus Reach and be able to tell me once and for all, what the heck all those huge hooks we mark there in the fall really are!!!! She'd fit in the live well, for sure she would attract the attention of some monster smallies and in general, beat the heck out of an Aquaview! . . . . . . . . . . .uhmm.... how many more days to the Quinte GTG!? . . . . . . . . ....and don't get me started on Belle from Beauty and the Beast!!!! HH
  17. Well Cliff, I gotta admit that Ariel is pretty hot too!!! LOL HH
  18. Amen Sam! My heartfelt sympathies to the family. I have been watching this and hoping against hope that this would end well. My kids are in for a real hugging tonight. HH
  19. I've learned that no matter how many Disney cartoons your kids make you watch, Tinker Bell is still a hottie! HH
  20. Those are new to me as well! I would assume that they will work like any other in-line board... watch yer graph and put yer lures in front of the fish and you should be golden! HH
  21. Awesome Beats!!!! The Thames is one of those body's of water that you just never know sometimes, what it's gonna give you! My PB on that river is just over 5lbs, mind you that was many moons ago! Keep at it and you will continue to be rewarded! HH
  22. Those Raps won't dive beyond 6-8 ft, once you have 100ft of line or more out. I think the more important question that should be asked is how far out from the boat should your boards be running? Given the clarity of the water and the fact that those lake residing trout are not accustomed to boats/motors, I would very seriously consider running your boards out as far as you can, to get yer baits in front of boat flaring fish. HH
  23. Really nice fish for that body of water...congrats! Just goes to show that if you wanna catch big fish, especially this time of year, ya gotta use big baits! HH
  24. Well, I can't speak about current conditions, but 25 years ago, we used to catch Coho, Chinnies, Bows and Lakers at Springbank Dam, from about the end of August, until end to middle of September. Many were looking a lot worse for ware, but I still have an image in my mind of a huge bow that straightened the split ring on a buddy of mine! It jumped all over the river before the brass split ring on his Pixie spoon gave way. Those fishin the Thames will find most migratory species piled up at the Springbank Dam, once they finish repairing it. HH
  25. Now that's what I'm talkin about!!!!! Nice to see the biggins being caught. My itch keeps gettin worse with each report! Just over a week and a bit before we all gtg for a kick at it! Thanks for the report! HH
