I guess I am not too impressed with the dictatorial attitude on the website.

Beer and wine sales in Ontario NF well kinda!
John replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
I would like to say that's great, but, I haven't bought a case of beer or a bottle of liquor in Ontario for a long time. I am in the US often enough to buy what we need. Unfortunately until we elect a Provincial government that is way more transparent as to where our obscene tax dollars are spent, nothing changes. The crazy taxes on tobacco, alcohol, gasoline are absorbed into that black hole of government coffers and disappears! -
Not sure what side of the fence you are on here Rob....or are you playing the Devils Advocate?

Your reasoning is flawed. How do they learn that skill? It's about hockey development. 40 years ago trainers were just throwing kids (and professionals) back out on the ice saying "just skate it off" now at least we recognize concussions and have a system to deal with it. Don't agree that injuries are far worse, sorry. Players played hurt all the time it was a requirement!!

We have run into a couple Bill that were real close.....goalies though..

I have one grandson playing AAA and one playing A who will progress to AA for the 2015/16 season. I don't understand the logic or the reasoning........... In larger centres isn't A hockey a feeder for AA....... and AA a feeder for AAA? What happens when the AA team in a centre AP's an A player, due to sickness or injury? Coaches are not going to do it if that player doesn't know how to receive a hit never mind deliver one. So development stops. Many professional players have spent time developing their skills in A and AA hockey! In most cases the problem is with the coaching staff and not with the players. I could go on about my thoughts on the GTHL centres, but this is not the forum.........

When was it we all became "guys" NF, pet peeve
John replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
I was never in the military but know how to treat people with respect after 40 years in a service profession. We taught our kids and they are teaching our grandkids to be polite, have good manners be tolerant and have respect for all living things AND even to be polite to those egotists who demand respect and subservience for no other reason than they like their ego's to be stroked. One earns (commands rather than demands) respect through example and leadership and is not a one way street. As for the greeting "guys", I have mixed feelings. Would I like my wife and I to be addressed as "guys", not really but could live with it rather than making a scene if the person addressing us was friendly and sincere. -
Got something similar on the roof down here Lew. We have a patio table outside the kitchen window there is no wind in that sheltered area and I measured 20" (all but the top layer compacted).

A lot of these calls originate offshore, UAE, Dubai and other locations. They have a dialing system that picks up unused phone numbers so that when you call back the number is not in service. I don't answer numbers I don't know any more.

Looks awsome but I would get rid of the cheese and add a tiny bit of mayo and a splash of lemon....

Too many overpaid underperformers. Easy for me to say but go through the lineup and look at individual contributions. To me there are only 3 maybe 4 "keepers" the rest should be blown up. Again easy to say but tough to do. McDavid is not the savour, but would be nice to have. BTW whoever it was that said playing D is easy has probably never played D.

In general terms a metal (standing seam or aluminum shingles) will cost 2 to 3 times that of standard shingles. I am no expert but this is based on 4 year old quotes. I went with 30 year architectural shingles, about half as much again as standard. Cedar shakes or shingles would be similar 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 times. Concrete tiles can look nice depending on the style of the house but I would make sure I got a structural engineer to take a look at the roof construction to see if it could bear the extra weight, If the existing roof needs to be stripped count on another $1000+. There are MANY "weekend cowboy" roofers out there, particularly trolling new (ish) subdivisions, get some references and recommendations from friends and neighbours.

Thanks for starting EasyFish. Emigrating to Canada in the 70's I really know nothing about Simcoe as it once was. Like you I would like to know more about its history (pre 1960's).

I guess it's still a Ford vs Chevy thing, each to their own.

Yep but you are still burning gallons of oil.....$$. Have you factored that into the equation?

Frankly, I could care less about hole shot and a few extra MPH. If I can get on plane relatively easily with 4 in the boat and cruise at 25 to 30mph that suits me fine. My 90 Merc 4 stroke is quiet, great on gas, will troll down to 2mph and tops out at 41mph on the GPS with 2 in the boat (not small people). Works for me.
