  1. I have been using Mobil 1 full synthetic motor oil in my Yamaha since new ( 10 years ) no issues what so ever . In fact I think it's way better oil than Yamalube. Just make sure the oil is correct grade / weight as per your owners manual.
  2. I own Patagonia Rio Gallegos. and SIMMS G4 Pro. very happy with both. Both companies have lifetime warranties, Patagonia has the best customer service.
  3. A very nice brown indeed !!! Congrats on your PB Rich .
  4. spincast, beat me to it
  5. I don't know about world's best but I have not used or seen something better as far as quality of steel, balance and holding the edge. unfortunately they only make a 7" model in professional series AND it does not come with a fancy sheath. (Rapala 7" knife sheath works fine) This knife has an amazing blade, it will fillet wafer thin slices and hold its edge for years http://www.williamsfoodequipment.ca/zwilling-j-a-henckels-professional-s-7-filleting-knife-31030-181.html Henckels makes many different lines but their professional series has the best quality steel and balance IMO. Problem I find with custom knives is that most use fancy and exotic wood handles but when it comes to blade, they just use regular 440 or similar stainless steel,
  6. What make of waders ? If gore tex, go to SIMMS site and watch some instructional vids on how to locate, repair leaks, They also show you how to wash and do water repellant treatment. Generally speaking, Nikwax wash and wash in treatment works well on all breathable stuff. Don't use any waterproofing stuff for camping/tents etc, that will not be good for breathability of that meterial.
  7. A bit over the price you mentioned but another vote for Daiwa Luna.
  8. I have been using Nikwax or ReviveX on all my Gore Tex gear with good results.
  9. Hard to suggest anything without looking at it but you could try putting a piece of heat shrink tube over it.
  10. I was thinking of trying Kanzen but I will save my money now and stick with Daiwa Samurai which I find is best casting braid for me. Not a big fan of Power Pro.
  11. Good to know, I didn't even know that place existed. Thanks for sharing
  12. Common with most new vehicles, Some vehicles have ceramic pads, not as much dust. makes you wonder what we are breathing driving down the road.
  13. Like mentioned above, stay away from neoprene if you plan on doing any walking. those non breathable chest waders like you posted above are not much better either. A pair of good quality Breathable stocking food chest waders is what I would recommend BUT since you're on a budget, just get yourself some boot foot hip waders from CT. get one size big shoe size so you can put some thick woolen socks when the temps drop in the late fall. save some money and buy Simms, Patagonia or Redington later on.
  14. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jen and your family, Keep up with your exceptional courage and this brave fight. All the best !!!
  15. Deka without a doubt, Lebaron has size 31 for around $155 That's a good price IMO
  16. I can not disagree with any one's good or bad experience at a perticular store, I have had my fair share as well. But don't forget to voice your opinion with the higher management of that establishment, A nice e.mail to corporate office usually makes some difference IMO Just be to the point and don't lose your cool.
  17. Apply parking brakes on your vehicle, loosen lug nuts on trailer wheel you want to change before jacking it up. you can choke both sides of the other side to be on the safe side. most bottle jacks are too tall for the boat trailer axles, I carry a scissor jack for the trailer along with a piece of 18" long 2x12 lumber in case I have to jack it on a soft shoulder.
  18. Is the Eliminator an automatic charger ? leaving a battery @ 8 or 12 amp on a manual charger will boil the battery. check water level in each cell, all plates should be covered and water level just bellow the neck of filler hole. use distilled water.
  19. Check your PM
  20. As mentioned above, a discharged deep cycle battery should be rapidly charged on highest recommended amp setting to its 75-80 % capacity, and then topped up with low amperage charge to 100%. Constant current charge rate should not be higher than 20% of battery's amp hour rating, for example if the battery is rated @ 100 AH, the charging rate should not exceed more than 20 amps. A battery tender is mostly used for off season battery maintenance, If you have a fully automatic charger, it will drop down to " Float " mode when the charge is complete, you do not need the battery tender.
  21. Some nice fights and great video ! That 30 lbr is a cow Thanks for sharing.
  22. Caddis makes a half decent breathable waders, Their customer service is awesome. LeBarons carry them for around $150 You can also check cabelas.ca if they have some on sale, If you know your size and exactly what you're looking for, eBay is a good place to look as well.
  23. Generally speaking, durability of a rod mainly depends on its blank materiel, components and workmanship, assuming the rod is not abused. A glass rod will typically last longer than a run of the mill graphite rod, we're talking durability here, not sensitivity or weight. I have some $30 downrigger rods which are going for almost 10 years, I load them up in the rigger release pretty tight and they have landed their fair share of big kings, They are made out of graphite and glass mix with quality Fuji components. still going strong. As for sensitivity, you can't beat a good graphite rod. a quality graphite rod is light, sensitive and durable, just don't bend it past 90 degree. Use the right rod for the application, let the drag do its work when you hook a big fish, On a snag, point the rod tip to the snag, put your hand on the reel spool and pull away,
  24. what line do you have on the spool ? braid or mono ? sounds like line slipping on spool.
  25. When trimmed all the way down, how far is motor cavitation plate from the bottom of the hull ?
