  1. You can get Caddis Deluxe Breathable waders for around $175 @ Lebarons, I think they have no tax sale for boxing week or something, I have been using them for the last 2 years and they seem pretty durable and well made with good features built in, I like them for the money, buy one size larger for layering up. Caddies customer service is top notch as well. I am sure there are a few other makes within that price range too. Off course, if money was no object, I would buy SIMMS G4 or G3, there is nothing better IMO. As for boots, I have had a few in my life, foot comfort and ankle support is very important to me when wading or walking for miles on uneven and slippery surfaces all day, I finally bought myself SIMMS G4 wading boots and let me tell you, they are the best out there! extremely comfortable and warm with the best ankle support . One word of advice if you go with Vibram soles, put a set of SIMMS “Hardbite” Star Cleats (carbide bits welded on star shape cleats), you’ll be glad you did.
  2. OP, keep them in the boat, down wind from yourself, thats like throwing them in the gas chamber.
  3. Cabelas Guideware X300 rainwear is by far the best money can buy, you will not be disappointed!! That is a great deal @ 50% off.
  4. Sounds like a faulty transducer, can you check your head unit on a buddy's boat with the same setup?
  5. Keep the drags just tight enough so the line stops creeping while you troll forward, no need for snubbers. A snubber is just a little more forgiving in case you forget to back off the drag. As for depth, 30 lb wire gets you approx 3 to 1 ratio @ 2.3 mph (90' out = 30' down) That’s just an approx reference point and varies with speed, current etc. find out the dia of 30 lb 7 strand SS wire and do your math with the braid. Braid is going to be a mess once the fleas start.
  6. Mustang Auto Inflatable, very comfortable to wear and twice the buoyancy compare to a regular life jacket.
  7. Replace the spark plugs before you get in to more complicated stuff like tinkering with the carbs etc, You already have a fuel filter so I don't think there is any other issues. I had the same problem with my 9.9 Yammy, the plugs were 3 years old and I only used it for trolling. Now I replace them every year since they only cost $6.00(set of 2) at C.T
  8. Cotton seed oil for deep frying. taste good and has a high smoke point.
  9. Kill switch ? Faulty switch in throttle control (motor wont start in gear)
  10. Daiwa Samurai
  11. I think that is an aluminum boat, there shouldn't be any wood stringers.
  12. What would it take to leave my job? The Army, Navy and The Air Force !! I like where I work and love what I do
  13. That lady @ AV Tackle is very rude ! My nephew from Alberta was here on a visit and needed a 7 day fishing license, she tried to sell him a scratched up one (it was previously written for some one else) he asked for a new one and she rudly refused, needless to say I have never been back to that store. Another vote for Pro J Tackle, 3467 Sheppard Ave East (just east of Warden), good selection on tackle and friendly customer service, they can order something if they don't have it in stock AND beat the big box store prices in most cases.
  14. Try places which deal with central vaccume systems.
  15. With that prop you'll get slightly better hole shot, lower RPM and lower top speed.
  16. EXACTLY !! Bearing Buddies do work !! The key to remember is "NOT TO OVER FILL" Provided the bearings were packed right with grease in the first place (inner, outer and in between). If you can rock the plate with two fingers, Do not put anymore grease. I have taken the hubs apart on my boat trailer after 5 years(just to see) and the bearings looked brand new with clean grease in them. and I trailer my boat every weekend during summer.
  17. SIMMS for waders and go with stocking foot, if you're on a budget, CADDIS waders are pretty reasonable with awesome customer service, As for boots, I have yet to find anything more comfortable(and warm) then my SIMMS G4 wading boots. you want good circulation to keep your feet warm so buy at least one size larger then your regular street shoes. I bought them two sizes large and they are very comfortable and warm with thick wool socks on those cold spring/fall days. I can always tighten the laces with lighter socks.
  18. Nice fish!! A sloid effort for sure. "I am out...laying down and breading deep" That should take care of some aching muscles
  19. I don't know where to find Cal's grease here but for Shimano you can call their service centre in Peterborough 705-745-3232 I used to have some Cal's grease but now I use Super Lube Multi Purpose Synthetic Grease on all my reel parts and drags and it seem to work better then anything else I have ever tried. http://www.super-lube.com/synthetic-multipurpose-grease-ez-49.htm Super lube has PTFE (Teflon) same as Cal's but it does not freeze to -45*F and impervious to salt water as well. much superior product IMO for a lot less $$$.
  20. Very sorry to hear this sad news. Our condolences to his family and friends.
  21. Cannon has a lifetime warranty on the motor, I would be calling their service center, I have had good experience with Mike's Reel Repair in BC (One of Cannon service center)
  22. What type/make of rod ?
  23. My choice would be a pair of breathable stocking foot waders, buy them one size bigger so you can layer them in cold weather. I have CADDIS brand, pretty good quality, comfortable and you don't have to break the bank for them ($149 @ LeBarons), CADDIS have awesome customer service!! I started with a cheap pair of nylon boot foot hip waders, they are OK for warm climate but you're very limited to how deep you can wade, the boot part is very uncomfortable. I will never buy another pair of boot foot waders. I also have a pair of 4mm neoprene stocking foot, but I have not used them since I bought the breathables.
  24. Best of luck to her Wayne, she is in our prayers She WILL beat this with the treatment available now a days and her determination.
  25. Hope you get the equipment and installation at a price to your liking, You’re right about gouging, it happens every where, that’s why it pays to be an informed consumer. Just remember though, there are no cheap good tradesmen in real life, a qualified person who is good at what they do deserves to make a decent living like any one else. You can buy the best equipment available, but it will not last long if it is not installed properly, specially when it comes to refrigeration/air conditioning, there are NO short cuts in this trade, , it will always come back to haunt you, ALWAYS!! Take roofing for an example, 25 or 30 year rated shingles mean squat if they’re not installed properly, There are tricks to every trade, rules, regulations and procedures to follow for a good reason, sure you can get it done cheaper, but beware of some fly-by-night artists, you’ll never find them when your equipment breaks down after a few months. Not getting in to a pissing match or trying to stir the pot, just expressing my opinion as a tradesman. Good Luck.
