Thoughts & prayers are with you, Happy 48th and speedy recovery!!

call Jos @ Angling Outfitters 519-539-5494 He usually has a few used/traded units in the shop

All depends on wire gauge and length, more critical with 12v, do you know the size of wire on that cord ? Most of those extension cords are 16 gauge, I wouldn't use that to wire a charger to the battery, unless it's a trickle charger.

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

Great news ! -
I wouldn't call it expensive, I bought it used from a member here, it is a custom rod, MHX blank with a st croix handle, I really like the action but the workmanship on all the guides is terrible. Like grt1, I hate to throw it away.
-
Not to hijack the thread, Can any one recommend a person or place around GTA where I can have the guides "re-wraped" on one of my spinning rods ?
-
They have to be submerged in water, atleast the bottom 6" of jacket where the sensor or trigger is located, that part is well protected, rain will not set it off ( I have had mine in some good downpours) as long as you dont wear it or leave it sitting up side down High humidity like in a damp boat compartment might trigger the older type PFD which has a moisture desolving tablet to set off the trigger, That is why they are not supposed to be worn during white water sports, New HIT models are better, they work on hydrostatic pressure. I never store mine in a closed boat compartment,

So sorry for your loss, My condolences to you and your family.

I wear my inflatable PFD every time I step in a boat,

$30 for shipping such small parts is outrageous, those reels didn't cost much more than new. Have you tried Aikman in Mississauga ? He used to be Zebco / Quantum authorized service centre, I don't know if still is .
-
How old is the reel and what do you think is wrong with it ?
-
Thats pretty good fishing considering you didn't use riggers, WTG !!
-
My advice is to get an auto inflatable PFD, what good is a manual if you knock your head unconscious or have a panic attack when you fall in the water ? Also have to remember that you have to be wearing an inflatable PFD for it to be approved on an open boat. Not approved for use by people less than 16 years of age or people weighing less than 36.3 kg ( 80 lbs) Get one with easy to find parts like re-arm kit etc. I use a Mustang Auto inflatable.

What are you targeting ? Kings ? Are you using wire, braid or mono ? What lures, leader length etc ? Tell us how you rigging it ? Dipsys ( wire diver ) work well on Lake Ontario, we run A-Tomik flies, meat and spoons of them and take a lot of fish on those set ups, They all require different leader lengths etc, Mind you dipsy is another effective tool just like riggers, leadcore, copper etc, Some days one lure / setup catches more than others.

How to adjust bunks on a newer trailer (placement)
NANUK replied to mr blizzard's topic in General Discussion
I don't own a glass boat but every glass boat I have seen on a bunk trailer sits on bunks placed between the streaks, bunks apear to be more closer to the outer streaks for better/wider weight distribution. You can always call Caravan Trailers to be sure. -
No different than a roller trailer, loading the boat up on the trailer is a breeze with those slick boards.
-
Fish Farmer, thats exactly what I did, works great !
-
Where did you get SS staples ? I couldn't find them @ HD
-
Clean (clear) cedar, I meant no knots.
-
Clean BC red cedar, you can buy trailer bunk carpet @ BPS I went with cedar and covered the top with 3/4" thick starboard, best of both worlds, full support of bunks but slick like rollers, my boat is all welded hull, no rivits, 2 seasons and very happy, just have to make sure boat is well over water before undoing winch strap @ the launch. I would go with carpet if hull is rivited. ceder is softer wood, it will sag a little and conforms to the shape of your hull, but still provides good support.

Night & day, compare to regular felt washers, Much better than shimano's dartanium drag. Dry or lightly greased with Cal's or Shimano grease with PTFE

Your thoughts on this over marine grade plywood
NANUK replied to tb4me's topic in General Discussion
We got about 5 sheets of the composite board to do the floor on my buddies boat, we tried it before cutting, stuff was havier than plywood and had a lot of flex, My buddy ended up selling it and went with plywood. Like mentioned above, it will probably never rot but nothing sticks to that stuff, you can not glue carpet on it, its slippery in wet, cold weather. Not suitable for a boat floor IMO. I would go with marine plywood and apply a couple of coats of good sealer before gluing carpet on. -
I agree, I just checked the specs & schematics of TE200, Max drag 10 lbs, there is only 1 drag washer on top of the main gear and a smaller washer under that gear.
-
what size Calcutta ? I don't have a Calcutta but have a few Tekotas 600 that have seen their fair share of Lake Ontario kings, still very smooth drags going for more than 5 years. I can't imagine Calcutta having inferior drags than Tekota ? can you post some pictures of drag washers ? I would contact Shimano Peterborough, I am sure they will take care of the issue. or you can just upgrade to carbontex drag washers.
