  1. Don't be cheap. Those people have to make a living also!
  2. I'm really surprised that you weren't the first one out there.
  3. Waubashene has some good ones. We did catch some out of Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park up by Killbear. I don't think they are any good to eat though. They eat everything.
  4. I think the Haliburton Gold strain is also in Mississauga and Catchacoma lakes.
  5. So the OFAH wants the gill nets pulled. Most anglers and resort owners want this, but what is going to be done? Statements like this mean nothing, unless they plan on doing something.
  6. I heard last weekend that is was opening up just south of the narrows. Any areas that have a current should be open soon if not already.
  7. The main lake is still covered, some break up in the lower end, but ice moving around. Gannons Narrows is wide open.
  8. Call Big Brothers Big Sisters in your area. I'm sure one of the matches would appreciate some new equipment to try a new activity
  9. Do they come as a pair? Where do you buy them?
  10. I also think it might be your converter. The wires will match up where they connect, but the converter changes it from 5 wires to 4 wires.
  11. Where are you located? Different conditions for different lakes. Water level is already starting to come up slightly.
  12. Boat and trailer are worth more than 2000 in most cases. Like others said, if the compression test is good, the motor can be fixed.
  13. Muskie are natural to our lakes. I also believe smallmouth bass to be natural.
  14. They lool like black crappie to me. Is that a white perch? Awesome catch anyway you look at it!
  15. The walleye that spawn at the lock/dam in Lindsay are always competing with carp and suckers. I didn't see carp following the walleye shore spawners on Pigeon when I checked them back in the 90's through KA. I believe that there are many factors that have had a negative impact on walleye numbers, all of them mentioned here, but to say that angling pressure has nothing to do with it, is a huge mistake. I'm hoping that the walleye continue to be elusive due to clearer water and their numbers grow. I just saw too many people keeping their limits of six when there was no slot. It's pretty sad to see stringers over the side of the boat that are full of 4-5 pounders during the few weeks after opening. However, it was legal at the time and people did it. Has anyone caught a walleye out of Chemong lately?
  16. I think the top end of the slot in the kawarthas, other than Balsam, should be reduced slightly, maybe down to 19".
  17. I hope we see that on the other kawartha lakes
  18. I think it would be a little more than the $100,000. Parking is a revenue stream that they won't get rid of unfortunately. I'll always park somewhere else if possible. As for the poster that mentioned having to pay $100 to get into Tokyo to promote transit use; I don't think that will work in TO. They want the car driver to pay so they can fund transit expansion.
  19. The MNR had the same response to stocking kawartha lakes. Something about ruining the strain, but they were also originally stocked. I'll be interested to see if no one shows up on Pigeon Lake for opening walleye this year due to the reduced limits and slot; it's usually looking like downtown out on the water for the opening. I haven't seen it bounce back yet.
  20. We need more of them out there to catch people that don't care. They seem to care after they're caught though.

Love those barred owls, they are very inquisitive. Saw a Great Grey Owl the other day Beans! Just on Pigeon Lake Road.
  22. Couple of times a month. Wow, some of you eat a lot of fish. No wonder I can't catch any! LOL
  23. I always have a tough time on that lake after the end of January.
