  1. Yes there is. Not sure it will ever be developed, have any of you been reading about the northwest sewer trunk issue in Lindsay, or how long it took to get that new bridge built south of Bobcaygeon. Can't imagine a bridge or causeway ever being built to go to big island or septic systems being approved.
  2. Nice fish. I have never caught one that big out of there.
  3. Don't go without a rod, you will regret it. Any rugged shoreline will produce mystery fish for you.
  4. Hey Jer I did my own washroom (complete reno) a few years back and the one piece that will definitely be down for a few days to a week is your shower. Tiling, grouting and sealing can take a few days. The toilet can be removed and installed as needed. Check with some of the local plumbing or contracting supply outlets in the Peterbrough area, they could probably provide you with a few suggestions for contractors.
  5. I moved to a rural area about 26 years ago and sure didn't have your questions on my mind. I was just wanting to get out of the city! Number one would be water. Make sure there is a good well and proof of how much water it produces every minute. I live on the water, have a 28 foot drilled well and have never had a problem. That can't be said for the people across the street from me or across the lake. It's just nice to know that I will always have the water. I would think drilled wells are the best if you are starting from scratch. Heating our place with baseboards and wood right now. That's the legal term anyways. You definitely have to check with the insurance company to see if they will cover a wood stove. The wood stoves are a lot of work, very dusty and dirty and inconsistent heat. However, great when the power goes out. Man they are tough on the back. Natural gas or propane would be the best option. I think oil is over regulated. I am working on getting my wife to go for a furnace, so we can get away from the daily woodstove. Will always want it for backup though.
  6. I was going to say the same thing. I think that is a brookie with the square tail.
  7. Isn't this why we have fire, ems and rescue services? They are covered by our taxes already. Yes, it was probably a bad decision to go out on the ice that day, a worst decision was to walk close to bullrushes, where the ice is rarely stable. Are they going to charge a 7 year-old after being rescued out of a river after he slipped on some ice and went in? I doubt it. So why are they trying to set an example with this guy? Most people will make somekind of mistake in their life, that's why we have those services and pay a large amount of taxes to support them. Just a few thoughts.
  8. The scary part is that this could happen to any of us if we questioned what that officer was insinuating. He should lose his job, pension and any respect he might have. Disgusting! Especially with the number of 3 to one.
  9. Cool, never seen one of those!
  10. I wish. I was down there a couple of years ago and went on a lake for a tour that used to host tournaments. They said they lost most of their bass when it flooded with salt water during a storm. However, they have some further inland that are supposed to be great.
  11. What a great way to end the day!!!!! LMAO
  12. After watching them against the Seahawks, you can keep them.LOL
  13. It's quite a bit colder today, so maybe the kawarthas will tighten up and allow us out for some panfish. Not holding out any hope for the small lake trout lakes in Haliburton County. It seems any lake with depth are slow to freeze to a point where it is worth venturing out for a fish. Not worth the risk for me. Speckie lakes might be a different story.
  14. That's too bad, because when I purchased my newer 14 footer I had the transom cut down for my 25hp short shaft. I'm kicking myself now. I should have looked to replace the motor also. That lower transom is very close to the water line and very rough water definitely comes over the back. Those two choices are great. How can you wrong with either? I bought a 14' Smokercraft with the flat floor walk through with livewell. I like the boat, but it's definitely heavier than one with bench seats.
  15. None in Simcoe
  16. Keep at them, maybe your success will bode well for other areas that have been pleading for a re-stocking program.
  17. I especially like the hightlight of being able to bring home a speckled trout!!!!
  18. A great thread that can probably be repeated for other areas in the province. The unfortunate thing about everyone's belief that stocking can solve the problem is that the MNR says it is way too costly or it will ruin the natural strain. All excuses in my books, but they have been giving that line for many many years now. We all see what stocking programs can accomplish if you look at lakes out west or in the states, so their statements don't hold much for me. I am continuing my group trip to Nip for now!
  19. Thanks for sharing. I probably fished that area in the early 80's, but nothing ever stays the same. Great pictures.
  20. Have been going there for years. Never really kept a whole lot of fish, but certainly did much better years ago. Every year our group talks about moving to another location, but after researching and finding that the price would increase considerably from the package we get from our resort, we end up booking again. Can't find other locations that have very comfortable cottages and nice big huts for the same price. The change won't affect our group at all, because we never get close to two slot fish each. Nip just suits our needs. Yes there are other walleye lakes, but do they have the same services that most operators offer on Nip???
  21. Pink head and white body hands down. 1/16oz - 1/4oz depending on the conditions, depth and structure. That's for gamefish.
  22. The whole process is very tiring and past the point of being interesting. Bettman trying to save the owners from themselves, players wanting the owners to throw bags of money at them. None willing to move an inch either way.
  23. Have seen it on largemouths and I think that I head it comes and goes.
  24. Young guys have to keep a clean driving record or they are going to pay. The bigger the centre the bigger the rate. My son got into some issues with points and he was paying over $800 a month (would have been $1200/month in Maple), but had to pay it and keep his record clean if he wanted to see it go down. It is down to about $450 a month and he jumped for joy when he saw the renewal come in. It took a couple of years, but I think it is sinking in. My wife and I had to sign an affidavit along with him saying that he wouldn't be driving our vehicles or our insurance was going to go up while he lived with us. I was tough on him, but he got through it and the insurance guys made some money. Can't see it getting any better for young drivers in the future and not really sure how youngins are going to be able to afford to drive their own vehicle.
  25. Neil Young with Crazy Horse is by far his best shows. You're one of the lucky ones. Nice painting.
