Dropshoting, marketing or real science behind it?
jimmer replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
The whole fishing industry is about marketing and coming up with new ideas to market old techniques.Have you seen some of the paint jobs on those crankbaits?? That is for us. We give fish way too much credit, their brain is about the size of a dime? -
There are two on Pigeon Lake. Happy Days and Egans. Happy Days is more central on the lake, Egan's is down the river towards Emily Park. Renting on Pigeon is a good choice, because you can go to The Bald Lakes, Upper Buckhorn, Pigeon and Chemong without locking, It's endless if you want to lock through to other lakes.

I enjoyed doing that with my trout when I was lucky enough to get one.

A very interesting lake. Very clear and deep water.

Stepping up on my soapbox for a second
jimmer replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
I have lived on a kawartha lake for the past 26 years and have fished the kawarthas for many more. I see this every year and it also drives me crazy when it is so obvious. Trying to avoid spawning bass is not easy in some shallower ends of the lakes, but they should not be targeting them. I think some people just don't give a sh..... -
We got 18 on opening day. Many were under the slot by a 1/4 inch. 4 were in the slot and 2 over. The largest was 23" and caught on a bucktail, most others were caught on a beetle spin type lure being run over the weeds. I did find it tough though and we had to work for the ones we caught. My go to spots did not produce, so there was lots of searching going on.

I was going to say if you don't want it, you can donate it to a charity. We are having a dinner/auction on June 13 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton. Call them at 705-324-6800 if you would like to donate it.

I heard some guys had luck at the lock in Lindsay after midnight on Friday. Too bad they didn't read the regs to know they were breaking the law. Over slot fish were being kept. They didn't even have to battle the waves! The TIPS line was notified.

That was one of his last songs he played. I had a couple of those gold top Les Pauls, but sadly sold them to first purchase furniture, then hunting equipment. Kicking myself now. He didn't use that guitar at Rama. It seemed his favourite was a natural wood grain Les Paul.

Like someone said, all freshwater fish have some form of parasite in them that's why we can't eat them raw. Cook them and everything is good, or let them go so someone else can catch the fish. I used to line the tape worms up as a kid when I was cleaning walleye years ago to find the largest one. That was on Scugog.

What the heck is happening to our society. This all over a truck??? I am concerned for his safe return if no one has heard from him yet.

I think we will be losing many of our friends from the south. I have seen USA tourism drop in Kawarthas and now it will be Nipissing. You guys have some amazing walleye fishing down there, so not sure why anyone would spend the time and dollars to come north.

Tough to see the spark sometimes, make sure it's dark. A spark doesn't always mean it will fire though. Could be that the carborator needs to be cleaned. Have you checked the compression? Is the gas line from the tank in good shape? Is gas getting to the carborator? Those are just a couple of the things to look for at the beginning of trouble shooting. Sorry, can't help you with the shifter.

That's sad to hear if people are keeping fish in "spite". I was always taught that two wrongs don't make a right. I only fish Nipissing in the winter and usually don't catch too many fish, so I have little impact on that lake. However, I fish the kawarthas 4-5 times a week and have made a personal decision to release the walleye that I catch as my part to help the population. I will keep panfish if I want a meal. I know it sounds crazy, expecially since I see many boats keeping their limits on opening weekend. I feel good about doing my part though.

I have seen this many times in walleye from various locations. I think it's fairly normal and like you said, they are not in the meat. Don't worry about them, I don't and I know I don't suffer from tapeworm symptoms, the gut is rotund. LOL

Gores landing or bridgenorth causeway ????

I wouldn't waste my time with Chemong either. I haven't heard of anything positive from Chemong over the last couple of years. -
Anyone else take in Joe Bonamassa at Rama last night? If you like the blues and guitar excellence, this is the guy to see! Simply amazing, non stop guitar riffs.

Definitely worth bringing your muskie tackle to any of the Kawartha Lakes, especially the larger lakes.

Nice to see them stick with it and have someone hit with runners in scoring position when they were down. -
Your obviously aware that you should not take this lightly. Keep an eye on the bite and the other symptoms. I know someone that died from lime disease and it's not a nice road.

Don't let it stop you from going after the crappie; just be careful and know your route.

Highest I have seen the water level in my 27 years on Pigeon Lake. I just removed most of the wood from my aluminium dock to prevent it from floating away. Caught it just in time. Now I have floating islands all over my shoreline. I sure hope I can catch the water when it's receeding so I can push those darn things out and not be stuck with them all summer. I sure hope everyone listens to the warnings, they are real.

That's kind of creative. He might be given some tips on a hot spot. Is there a rule in the derby that says he can't do this? What makes it illegal if you don't mind me asking?

That lake always amazes me. It has huge pressure but still produces. Crappie and Pike are the main spring targets. Lawrence Park has the best boats if you're renting.
