Agreed!

Yep, it had in impact on tourism. One of the trailer parks on the lake I live on always had their cottages full in the spring for the early walleye season. They tore the cottages down and replaced them with trailer sites due to lack of walleye.

NF Trent Lakes Waste Management ...getting ridiculous
jimmer replied to buckhorn250's topic in General Discussion
We also have to use clear garbage bags with a limit of two. I have no problem staying within one small bag on most weeks. I might have an extra bag if I have done some clean up. They allow one privacy bag within the clear bag. One week I put out a regular sized clear bag with some garbage and the two clear grocery sized bags in my regular garbage pail. They left one of the small bags, so now I have to use another regular sized garbage bag on top of the two small clear if I wanted them to pick up all my garbage. Another bag in the landfill? What do we do with fish scraps after cleaning them? Do we just throw everything into a clear bag? Just felt like ranting along with the others. -
What a beauty. Balsam tends to produce some good muskie.

Tipping the pilot on a fly in fishing trip
jimmer replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Cliff, I would tip whatever amount you are comfortable with. However, I will also say that this is North America, not Cuba. It looks like some do and others don't bother tipping. -
You might want to consider another kawartha lake. Rice lake might have more options for boat rentals. Just a thought. Balsam can get rough on the weekends with wind and large boat wakes. If you choose Pigeon, you can check out Buckeye right in Bobcaygeon in the canal.

LOL Terry, It's his daughter!

Some will still defend the practice though.

Let's see your flooding/water level pictures...
jimmer replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
This was my shoreline before the water dropped. I usually have a 1 1/2 foot drop to the water. That is my boat launch which is usually clearly visible without the high water. I have the wood on the dock strapped with bungie cords so it wouldn't float away. Back down to normal conditions and the weeds are going to be ugly this year.. -

Bill Saiff III pleads guilty to hunting charges
jimmer replied to Fishwilly's topic in General Discussion
Someone like that should get banned for life because of his obvious knowledge of the laws. -
My advice is to look after yourself. Don't tell your employer any of your plans, other than how their decision made you feel. Polish your resume like others have said and start looking if you are completely frustrated. However, remember that the grass might look greener on the other side, but sometimes you find out differently.

My personal contribution to helping the walleye population happened quite a few years ago when I started eating panfish. I might keep one or two walleye a year for a change, but the panfish more than satisfy my taste for fish. I also believe that the guys that fish these lakes on a regular basis know more about the fish populations than anyone else; however, all will also have different opinions.

Identifying Speckled Trout Lakes from Satellite Image?
jimmer replied to Sterling's topic in General Discussion
Do they even stock lakes in northern Quebec? Hopefully someone will chime in on this site and share their experience in that area.. -
Nice fish, especially off the dock!

I like Akrisoner's idea.

Just wondering how any members faired in the walleye tournament this past weekend? I heard it was a little tough to catch a limit.

I think it's the ethanol in the fuel that ruins them. I just made a gasket to go under the whole thing and didn't worry about the gauge.

Best Laker Bait/Lure if Minnows are banned?
jimmer replied to Sterling's topic in General Discussion
Depending on the time of you year you're fishing. I have had great luck on twister tails and tubes during the spring and fall in shallower water, but I'm sure they would work in deeper water as well during the summer if you locate them and vertical jig them. Easy enough to bring an assortment along with you, but I highly recommend trying them. -
Lake Baptiste Fishing Mainly For Small/Large Mouth Advice?
jimmer replied to Pali2's topic in General Discussion
Pound the shorelines and overhanging trees or fall downs along deeper water with a wacky rig or tube jig. Shallow areas you can use a soft plastic jerk bait to imitate a minnow. There are not a lot of weeds in the lake, but work them good when you find them.- 12 replies

I for one could never afford to attend an NHL game and would choose not to even if I could afford it. Professional sports is all out of whack when it comes to contracts and what's expected from the fans. However, it appears that many don't mind throwing away $$$$$$, then more $$$$ on food and beer . I do take free tickets when offered though LOL, that's about the only way I will attend.

Thanks for sharing and it sounds like your group did okay with the fishing! Love those shore lunches.

That's right, I remember Joe from the conventions back in the day when he was a judge of all us up and comers at the Taxidermy competitions.. I was mistaken with the first name Randy, that was a guy from around here. He did have a son that also did taxidermy though.
