Not, sure. But this is a yearly issue around here, so I'm sure fish are being kept.

I don't know if that is unique to Virginia anymore!

Jail time might be the only way to stop poaching out of season or in sanctuaries. People sure aren't getting it with just the fines that are handed out. There is a lot of efforts being made to bring back the walleye in the Kawarthas and this just makes me sick when a few can negate all the positive efforts.

If anglers have the nerve to come in right beside your boat when you're fishing a spot and start fishing, saying something to them will only result in you being told where to go from my experiences. I'm too old to get in fights anymore.

Do not call the municipality if you are in the City of Kawartha Lakes; you will be asking for trouble. I have never seen a spiral weeping bed. They have probably been replaced by the raised bed or holding tank only. Maybe your place was grandfathered.

I think I heard that Lunge Haven did short term rentals. Not 100% on that though.

Yeah, I usually start up and blast out of the spot when someone pulls this on me. I don't really like altercations with strangers, you never know who you're really dealing with; could be a complete wacko.

I think I am getting a little too excited looking at those pictures. I would love to visit that location!

The Pickering generating station????? Watch the weather though.

There is no boaters/fishing etiquette anymore. :-( That's really sad to see it happening where you are.

Just returned from a 5 day fishing trip to a lake near Rouyn-Noranda. My buddy and I started going there about 5 years ago, but missed last year. We had joined in with another group who have been going there for 20 years. The first year we went was the first time that you could drive into the camp We left early on Canada Day and arrived 6 1/2 hours later. Cottage was ready to go and we unloaded. We mentioned to one of the attendants that we would like to go fishing that day and he promptly got our boat ready. We headed out for the afternoon, but found the bite to be tough and the weather was cold. I think we only caught a couple of walleye and a few pike. The daily routine was to get up early have a quick bite and head out until lunch, go back to the cabin and eat, go fishing, return to camp and eat, then go fishing again. The weather varied from windy as heck to summer weather on the last few days. We caught a crap load of fish considering the unstable weather patterns. We also ate a ton of fish over the last two days. Our best outing was the last evening that we went out. We were out for about 2 hours and caught about 40 walleye. The sad part about this trip is that I see boat traffic increasing every year, which takes away from the feeling of being in a remote location. My buddy and will probably look for other options for next year, but we get pulled back in due to the amazingly low cost of this trip for the larger group. It was a nice change from the Kawarthas though!

If you choose Nipissing - look into Bear Creek Cottages and speak with Shawn. He has some muskie experience. The Ottawa has always intrigued me so please let me know how you make out if you go there. I agree St Clair would be like fishing in the city. There are other lakes like Baptiste Lake that could still hold some good fish.

Any suggestions on a place to fish near Toronto to Barrie

Honey Harbour is a cool area to fish. I always found muskie tough there, but bass and pike fishing is good. There are plenty of other Kawartha Lakes that might suit your need. Balsam Lake has some good muskie fishing and now has pike, so there are some tigers in there also. Bass and walleye are also available. -
Wow, those sure bring back memories. I had one of those fire plugs and caught a few walleye on it back in 70's, along with Beno's. The Beno was one of my father's favourites.

Definitely check the grounding system. However, I had a vehicle that the converter seemed to break down every year or two, so that might be your problem.

My thought on tourneys as a whole is that there are way too many being held in the kawarthas. I know this won't sit well with many, but the lakes get pounded, loons and their chicks get disturbed (for opening few weeks), weeds get chewed up. I am not against tournaments; I just feel they need to be regulated better and not have one on the tri-lakes every frigging weekend. Example: FLW decides to hold one this September on the same day that the Emerald Island Tournament has been scheduled for what? 40 years Now, some of these tournaments are being organized privately, but many are series. Maybe it won't be so bad without Top Bass around, but another series will show up soon to replace it. Opening this spring was early and many of the males are guarding fry and are still doing that as evidenced from my walk down to the dock this week. I do know that opening was off limits for a period of time years ago, but I think that all went out the window due to competing for weekends and available water. You ask for our thoughts

Glad you made a decision you and your wife are happy with. That's what matters.

I use the zoom brand because they sink with only a single wide gap hook. I find the yamamoto are way to soft and get torn apart in heavy cover. The 3 X stand up great, but not good for me if they don't sink. Adding a weigh is not an option in heavy cover. So many different baits to choose from. LOL
-
Will those baits sink?

I know someone that died from Lyme disease, so it's nothing to fool around with. He was in his forties when it took his life. Unless you catch it right away, you are in for the long treatment. However, it might effect certain people differently. Too many misdiagnosis over the years.

It's cool to see some of you already have things crossed off your bucket list. Mine are probably unattainable, but these are the places I dream of. 1) Amazon River 2) Australia 3) Anywhere northern Saskatchewan or Manitoba or north of that I also hope my back will hold out and allow me to continue to fish until the day I die.

Yes, muskie fisherman are always hungry and readily bite the expensive baits. LOL

Sure looks like you're living the dream. Thanks for sharing!

Not sure why people get upset when players won't waive a no-trade clause. They get this to have control over where they play. You can't blame the player for the loss of other defensemen, this is on management. Just glad it's Ottawa that has to deal with this. hehehehe
