  1. Well, I skipped out of work a little early yesterday because of a previous long day. Called a buddy and we went out for some bass. I have to start with saying how darn hot it was, which eventually sent these two older guys to shore in search of shade. The super hot pepperette didn't help. LOL We started off like gangbuster, but eventually came down to earth. The smallies seemed to be on and we caught 4 of those on unlikely structure in the first hour. Caught 4 of them on a chug bug and added one later on a fluke. We did get some largemouth to add to the total. Not bad for an afternoon of fishing.
  2. I think many people have starting keeping bass in the Kawarthas, due to the difficulty in catching walleye for a meal.
  3. The face off rule is okay to keep everyone honest, but those refs are another thing when dropping the puck. Just drop the thing already.
  4. So, do they have to be legal fish to count towards total length? I have seen the honor system used in the past, but someone always ruins that.
  5. Did you check with Silver Springs Cottages?
  6. In should have thrown that iphone into the live well.
  7. Holy, glad you're all safe!
  8. Ohio, my phone wouldn't take a picture, so I threw it in the live well and scooted into my dock. We caught two smallies in what would not be considered the usual smallie haunts.
  9. A buddy and I got out after work yesterday for two hours. We targeted bass, but wanted to make it easy and avoided any thick weed areas. I think the bass felt the same way! We probably boated 15-20 bass in those two hours. My buddy caught all his on a white twister with the largest topping 3 lbs. I stuck with senkos and flukes, but didn't catch as many as him. The bite died at about 7 pm, but we kept working the area and were about to go in. I figured one last cast and low and behold I had that one last bite. It turned out to be a 5 lb smallie (weighed on a digital scale), largest bass of the year for me. It was a nice way to finish off a great evening of fishing. I guess there is something to that fall feed bag story. Catch them while you can!
  10. Nice to hear about areas that are rebounding. I'm not familiar with this spot.
  11. I don't think that's a tiger muskie. Looks like a St. Clair with some colour from being in a river.
  12. That is a chunky fish for 39"s. Beautiful to boot.
  13. I still use the white twisters now. I switched back after Yum seemed to change the composition of theirs. Yum seems to be too stiff and the tail doesn't have the same action. I also like the smaller size at times.
  14. Never easy to lose a friend/buddy. Thoughts are with you!
  15. It sounds like many are waiting until they come up with a vehicle that doesn't burn fuel.(electric) I doubt anything will change, because greed is greed and it doesn't matter what the product is. Everyone will use supply and demand to explain costs, so the cost of electricity will go up even more when more electrical vehicles hit the road. We're like cattle being lead to slaughter.
  16. There is a place that operates in Haliburton County called 13 Oaks 705-448-3593. They have a website, but they don't list log lengths. They do mention on their home page that they might be able to link people up with tandem loads if you call them. I used to buy lengths from a company called Merrill Barry in West Guilford, but he isn't listing wood on his webpage anymore. He might know someone though. That's all I've got Sinker
  17. I saw the results of those tournaments. It looks like other than the top teams most struggled to put anything decent in the boat. I had fished the lake on the Saturday and found it tough.
  18. I think they wait for any excuse to put the prices up. I did get gas for $106.9 in Lindsay, but saw one station up to $112.9 about 1/2 hour ago..
  19. The price of watermelons went up $2 over night. :-( I think I will run out and get gas right now. Just saw it at $106.
  20. Let us know if you find a hotspot. I fished out of there a couple of times over the years in the fall and never caught one walleye. Ended up focusing on Perch so we could have a feed while we were there.
  21. What bite???? LOL Frost warning in the Kawarthas also.
  22. I think you have to buy a carb kit and replace the float pin and bowl gasket if you can't find a line leaking. I had that happen last year and the thing caught on fire and was only put out by a fire extinguisher. I had that thing buried in snow and it was still burning. Works great now after the rebuild. I could be a number of other things though.
