CHEERS DUDE !!!

Second offence in the same year should bring a much harsher penalty. Should have been $5000 and 2 weeks in jail. They're lucky I wasn't the judge.

On Frozen Pond - A tale of heartbreak and triumph

Very nice story Cliff. Glad you finally have the monkey off your back. -
Sweet pics guys. I would think having a big ole antler hanging on on one side of your head would eventually give you a bit of a headache / neckache.

Yes, MNR dogs are trained to sniff out specific species of fish and game. They can tell the difference between the smell of a whitefish or a laker easily. Saw a very impressive display of what an MNR canine can do a couple of years ago. Each dog is trained to search for several scents, but if the officer suspects foul play for something his/her dog isn't trained to search for, they will call in another canine unit who is. No escape. Nice to hear they're getting out there. Wish we had more of them.

I've been around here a long time, although, I not online nearly as often as I used to be. Work and family keep me pretty busy these days. Been an OFC member for approx. 10 years if the memory is working right. Pretty sure I joined in 2002. Met a whole bunch of members when we used to have regular get togethers for wings and beer. Also fished with a bunch of members over the years and I can honestly say I've always had great time with all of them. I have an OFC sticker on the back of the boat. Had people drive beside me on the hwy. and give me a thumbs up or a friendly honk. Even had people on the lake or at the dock recognize me or the sticker and start a conversation. Always great to meet new people who share my passion for the sport. I even bumped into TJ at Casino Rama one evening after a Styx concert. (he was at the show with some buddies) Not the first time meeting the boss, but still a nice surprise. I'll fish for anything and have the gear for most species, hardwater or softwater, but my main quarry these days are salmon, walleye and the occasional panfish outing to keep the kids entertained. Been fishing all my life. Forty something years now. Actually, since before I was born. Mom used to go with dad when she was pregnant with me. Cheers ! Remo

Once in a lifetime thing that you've seen in the outdoors??
Carp replied to danc's topic in General Discussion
I used to bow hunt a property just northeast of Newmarket, ON. One morning, an hour or so after daylight, I was in my tree stand and heard something coming through the bush to the open field. It was a big old whitetail doe running fast, but not full out. I could hear her heavy breathing and could tell she was tired. She followed the edge of the bush in front of me and around a corner to my left. A few minutes later, 3 Wolves (not coyotes) came out to the corner of the field where she has ran out. 1 was about the size of a full grown German Sheppherd and coloured similar to a Husky. The other 2 were about double the size and all black. They stopped and looked around and at each other as if to communicate or formulate a plan. The small one and 1 big wolf followed the deer's trail around the corner. The other big wolf doubled back to cut her off as she tried to get back through the bush where she came from. It was amazing to witness the intelligence of these animals and see them carry out a plan to get that doe, other than just trying to catch up to her from behind. After a few minutes, the 2 that were following the deer came back out to the field's corner, looking around and listening for the doe. I never did see the other wolf again. He was still in the bush behind me somewhere, waiting for the doe to try and get by him. I made a soft doe call and they started coming toward me, but were really spooked, as if they knew something wasn't right. I was in the bush about 20 yards from the edge of the field. They skirted around the tree I was in, like they knew I was there, always keeping about 20 to 25 yards away. Then they walked behind a small bush......and disappeared. I was waiting for them to come out from the other side, but no such luck. There wasn't much around that small bush except a few twigs. The bush was barely large enough to hide them. Where the heck did they go ? I began thinking I had fallen asleep and was dreaming. Now I was the one who was spooked. Well, my hunt was over for the morning, but I waited at least an hour before getting down out of the tree to make sure they had left. Made lots of noise on the way out too. Never saw them again. Probably won't ever witness this again in my lifetime, so it's a memory I cherish, even though it's a reminder of how vicious and cruel nature can be. -
We've made pulled pork in the oven at home and it was good, but I think slow cooked in a smoker or bbq gives the meat much better flavour. Now I'm hungry !

I have some hot sauce made from both habaneros and naga jolokia peppers. Definitely the hottest stuff I've ever tried. It's the hottest of the "Blair's" commercial sauces. Is the Bhut Jolokia hotter that the Naga ? I'd love to grow some of these myself and make my own hot sauce.

Can't see most motor boats even getting up to full speed before they reach the other side of the lake.

Here's my response on a facebook page dedicated to fight this idiotic move. Facebook page I suspect some wealthy Toronto waterfront boat owners are using their friends on Toronto's City Council and Management Staff to impose this ridiculous fishing ban. Why stop with waterfront fishing. How about banning boating, jet skis, surfing, sail boarding, sailing, scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling, sun tanning, jogging, dog walking, sports activities, family gatherings and barbeques, baby strollers, roller blades, skate boards, bicycles, tricycles, walking, breathing, etc. If anything, fishing should be encouraged all across the Toronto waterfront. Anglers support area businesses and spend millions of dollars. Daily boat launch users also pay user fees, which in my opinion is ridiculous as well. Do all the above activities pay fees to use the parks and waterfront ? Why are boat launch users singled out ? Waive the launching fees and I'll bet you'll see even more cash injection into the local economy. Don't keep restricting and banning people from public areas that their tax dollars paid for. Allow ALL people to enjoy the parks, trails and waterways, not just a select few. Along with many friends and family, I await the city council decision on this matter. We will be looking specifically for councillors who support this fishing ban and pass on the information. The internet is a wonderful tool to inform people of issues like this and help them vote accordingly in the next election.

Regardless of what year this happened or geographical location, the response is hillarious.

Nothing a stick of dynamite can't cure........ooops, was I thinking out loud again ? I like the idea of hosing them with a fast jet of water. Won't kill 'em, but you'll certainly deliver the message clearly.....and cleanly. If that doesn't work, you'll find an air rifle is an amazing tool for preventing bird poop.

As Brian has suggested Lew, I would put a brace between the horizontal & vertical surfaces to prevent any bending and to relieve stress. Other than that, it looks great ! HAPPY TROLLING !!!
