  1. Relaxing by the dock and catching beauty fish too. Very nice Cliff.
  2. Friend had an old 20 or 25 hp Johnson stolen from the same area, however, that was at least 15 or 20 years ago. He was an older guy who`s passed away now. Paid to keep the boat docked at the marina. Went up one day to go fishing and no motor on the boat. I`ll be up in cottage country for the next few days and will certainly keep an eye out for your buddy`s motor.
  3. Very nice report and pics of your trip. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Ran Never10 and glad I did. Over 19,000 files and folders belonging to windows 10 and over 6GB of hard drive space freed up. Thanks Smitty
  5. I've seen the wreckage first hand. Camp owner stored bear bait in an empty cottage. Bear ripped right through the siding and wood, creating a hole big enough to climb in. He lived in there for a while until the camp owner went to pick up more bait for his bear stands and saw the mess. Not sure if that was the new rug in camp ?
  6. Last year was the first time in 30 years I didn't get on the big lake at least once. I will get out there one day soon to pursue the mighty kings again. Thanks for the report. Cheers !
  7. Now that's just making me hungry. Looks fantastic bud. Enjoy !

    Lake O

Good looking laker. Always nice to see the kids taking part.
  9. Check out some private rentals on Kijiji. Kawarthas are probably a good bet. I found a private 3 bedroom cottage on Pigeon Lake last year and stayed for a week with my family. Just reccomended it to a guy at work and he's taking it for a week this summer. Shoreline is shallow and rocky/gravel and not the best place for swimming, but there's a great beach just 10 min. away. It has it's own dock and the boat launch is right beside the cottage. Under $1000 for 7 days, no tax. Just use the filter to narrow your choices.
  10. Good shooting Brian. One of these days I'll catch up with everything on my "TO DO" list and get out there. Or......maybe play hooky and go fishing. Wouldn't be the first time.
  11. Good and bad everywhere. I see multiple violations every day. The # of people looking down at their laps (texting) while driving is incredible. Some are holding the phone right to their ear, yapping away with hundreds of other drivers watching them. My son and I were on the 401 eastbound going towards Toronto last week in heavy traffic. One car ahead of us was leaving a large gap and I couldn't understand why at first. We watched the driver look down into her lap at least 10 times in a one minute span. I finally had enough and gave her a quick sound of the horn to let her know we were watching. She promptly gives us the single digit salute. We pull up beside her and she already has the window open, ready to say something. I yell, " GET OFF THE PHONE ! " She calls ME an idiot, rolls up the window and goes about her business. Umm, " I'm the idiot ? "
  12. Always nice when the fish co-operate, especially with the kids on board.
  13. Great post ! Thanks for sharing.
  14. If the battery cables aren't tightly secured to the post/screw, or there's a bit of corrosion, the starter doesn't receive the electrical current it should. Sometimes it will may start the motor, but not getting as much juice as it should. Last summer we rented a cottage for a week in July. Battery was fully charged and started the motor fine on the first day. The second day I could tell could tell the starter seemed a bit weaker. Third day, it barely got the motor going. Thought the battery was toast. Disconnected all the wiring and used some sandpaper on the wire ends (connecting terminals). A quick scrub on the battery terminals with a wire brush and put it all back together. No more issues. That's the first thing I would do. If the battery still doesn't start the motor, try a different battery (car, truck, another boat, etc.) Or, as mentioned, connect the booster cables directly to the solenoid. If the motor starts with a different battery/cables and you've cleaned the connections, you can just about guarantee your battery is the problem. When storing the boat for the winter, I disconnect all the wires connected to the battery. Some black electrical tape wound around the negative wires keeps them separated from the positives. I wrap tape around the positive wires too, but it's easy to distinguish between the two groups of wires. After that, I take the battery inside to my basement and put it on a piece of 2 x 8" plank, as large as the base of the battery or even slightly larger. I read somewhere that putting the battery on a concrete floor can cause damage to the plates over time. Not sure if it's true, but why take the chance. I always have pieces of wood laying around the house from various projects. Hope you figure it out and get on the water soon. Let us know what the problem was.
  15. Gorgeous fish ! Scenery is just as nice. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I have a high school friend living in the Fort McMurry area who was evacuated with her husband, kids and extended family too. Thankfully, through social media, she's informed everyone her family is all together and safe. Not sure what they'll come home to, if anything.
  17. Congrats on the move !
  18. Hope they get everything under control an everyone is OK.
  19. So if I'm understanding correctly, you pay for a spot that is big enough to park both your boat trailer and car / truck while at the cottage. When your family goes up, they launch the boat, put the trailer back on the outfitter's property and park their vehicle on Crown Land. I don't understand why this outfitter has a problem with this ? Same boat & trailer, same parking spot and your family doesn't even park their vehicle on his property. Hope it all works out Let us know.
  20. I read faster than my brain can process the information. Originally thought the title was " Have to widen bikini, anyone sew in the Hamilton area ? "
  21. Glad to hear some fish co-operating. Thanks for the report.
  22. If the boat trailer remains on the property after launching and you park a car beside the boat trailer or elsewhere on the property, there's 2 spots taken up. If a car is the only thing in the spot where the boat goes, not an issue as far as I can tell. Where did you park the cars & trucks and boat trailer before using this outfitter's property ? Might be time to explore other options or work out something out with this guy if you need additional spaces while at the cottage. Good Luck !
  23. I was a little baffled as to how you pull start an electric too. ..........until I read on....... If your boat is out in the sun often, it can make the cord dry and brittle, but not as often as you're claiming. As mentioned, there must be something rubbing/fraying the cord for it to fail that frequently.
