  1. I wouldn't be too quick to give credit to the guides/sportsmen for getting rid of the commercial fishing. The credit or discredit goes to Dow chemical for the decades of mercury contamination that was discovered in the 60's. In the early 70's fishing was banned on both sides of the border because of the high levels of mercury. Michigan and Ontario initiated law suits. Dow reached an out of court settlement with Ontario and the commercial licences were bought out.
  2. I signed the petitiion, thanks for posting this!
  3. If you want the best of both worlds, you can get a Michigan fishing lisence and fish the Detroit River for fantastic walleye fishing in April. Just make sure you know the custom rules.
  4. I've been a Habs fan all my life and it's great to see they're doing good. I have a lot of friends who are Maple Leaf fans so I'm happy for them as well.
  5. I like Mark Krupa as well- great show. I don't mind Charlie Wray because if I'm on new water I like to troll until I get familiar with the lake. My very best favourite show is Dave Mercer's because he shows the good and the bad. I also agree that Pete Bowman is a good old boy. He's the kind of guy that you would love to have a beer or beers with.
  6. A balding white haired man walked into a jewelry store this past Friday evening with a beautiful much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweller he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweller looked through his stock and brought out a $5000 ring. The man said "No no, I'd like to see something more special." At that statement, the jeweller went over to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000" the jeweller said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her body trembled with excitement. The old man said "We'll take it." The jeweller asked how payment would be made and the man stated, "By check. I know you need to make sure that the check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank on Monday to verify the funds, and I'll pick up the ring on Monday afternoon." On Monday morning the jeweller angrily phoned the old man and said, "there's no money in that account". "I know", said the old man, "but let me tell you about MY GREAT WEEKEND!"
  7. I'm going to the Sportsmen Show for the first time in 7 or 8 years. I stopped going because a lot of the fishing related displays were out numbered by the non fishing vendors. I also like to go to the London Boat and fishing show. Unfortunately a lot of these shows have been taken over by too many non fishing or non-hunting related vendours. I got a $3.00 discount by buying on line. With my senior discount it was only $13.00, so it's a cheap way to spend the day.
  8. Congratulations! I haven't hunted in years and I miss it. Good for you!
